Pawmot can resurrect it's allies. That's awesome.
I play SV OU and I play it well. I click buttons like nobody else, on the Scarlet & Violet Overused ladder., in competitive Gen 9 Pokemon Showdown.
Game Freak just blew all other online game development schools out of the water with this incredible new 2022 release. You're gonna need to get a game design degree online, and FAST, if you want to make a better game than this. Not even the best strategy games android reddit could hold a candle to this breathtaking Next generation competitive Pokemon experience.
Scream Tail is the Jigglypuff of our wildest dreams. It has been buffed with some higher statistics and the incredible ability, Protosynthesis. Gen 9 Competitive Pokemon wouldn't be the same without this powerful pink blob. He kinda looks like someone I met in one of my game design and development courses.
Gen 9 Pokemon Showdown is one of the greatest online gaming sites in history. From Pikachu and Charizard, to Palafin and Roaring Moon, The new Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, have introduced a lot of new faces. Can I succeed in one of the best android games of all time? If so, I'm gonna get myself a Walmart bakery Pokemon cake to celebrate.
Gholdengo is a Pokemon made of pure gold. He must have done some online business management courses to accumulate all that wealth. Or perhaps he might want to learn how to make money playing video games on TH-cam. In any case, he's a powerful metagame force, with absolutely no interest in online game development schools.

It’s so odd to think that the pseudo legendaries we know today are just because they’re “in their prime” so to speak. In the future, Ttar and Hydry are just… averege. Makes me wonder what pokemon USED to be considered pseudos but have fallen to the wayside in modern day (misdreavus losing bst and then getting an evo that STILL doesn’t come close) and what pokemon have the potential to be considered a pseudo legend in the future, like the gardevoir/gallade line

Tyranitar spent a few stints in UU during Gen 8, and the way the the meta is now with Tera Fightings, Annihilape, and no good Sand Rushers (i.e. Excadrill or Dracozolt), it’s looking like a wrap for Ttar this gen.
Edit: I think some things are going to happen to hurt Ttar’s viability further like Chi-Yu getting banned. Then, it will lose it’s niche of walling the dual STAB of that mon. If DLC/Pokemon Home brings Toxic back into Ttar’s moveset as well as decent Sand Rush Pokemon like Excadrill, Ttar’s viability might be saved. I have a feeling that the DLC is not going to come through for your boy, though.
Edit 2: I’m almost surprised that Ttar dropped before any Chi-Yu suspect test, but the writing was definitely on the wall. I don’t see Ttar coming back to OU unless Home/DLC brings Dracozolt or Excadrill back to the game.

The only physical electric moves Iron Thorns has are Wild Charge, Thunder Punch and Thunder Fang (unless you want to Terra into a pure Electric type and use Terrablast). Wild Charge has 90 base power and 1/4th recoil, and the other 2 are under 80 base power. This also massively hurts Iron Thorns imo. Good physical Electric type moves are often limited to be signature moves for a certain evolution line. Double Shock for Pawmot, Plasma Fist for Zeroara, Fusion bolt for Zekrom, Kyurem-Black and Victini. Even Zing Zap with 80 base power and 30% chance to flinch is only learned by Pinchurchin and Togedemaru. It`s a shame the devs or who ever didn't give Iron Thorns something to match that in it's own signature move. The extra bit of speed it has over TTar might be interesting when Tapu Koko comes back and dominates the meta potentially depending on what happens with bans Smogon OU is going to implemend by then.

Iron Thorns, despite being not great compared to Tyranitar, is still not to be underestimated!
It has a few unique traits that can give it an edge. In a game where typing is it’s greatest weakness, and the main mechanic involves changing type, it’s a great candidate as a main Tera option as a late game Dragon Dance cleaner, hitting the same speed benchmarks that a Jolly Tyranitar would be able to hit at +1… WHILE RUNNING ADAMANT.
My favorite Dragon Dance Iron Thorns set uses Loaded Dice for Rock Blast, turning it into a 90% move with the same base power as Stone Edge or *greater*, and Tera Bug to resist Ground moves with Pin Missile for an additional STAB! I’ve also been experimenting putting the extra speed to use with a Scarf set that uses Volt Switch to pivot around!

I’m not sure I think Iron Thorns is explicitly worse than Tyranitar, I think they occupy different roles. Defensively, Iron Thorns isn’t nearly as good as T-Tar, but what it DOES have, is great offensive potential. With Electric typing instead of Dark, you gain the ability to hit Water types for potent super effective damage from moves like stab Wild Charge. While Water types still threaten Iron Thorns outright, very few want to switch into its STAB moves, which could threaten a large amount of damage, if not a KO. It also gets access to Volt Switch, a pivoting move that Tyranitar doesn’t get either. While retaining a fantastic movepool that includes moves like Dragon Dance, Swords Dance, Taunt, Snarl and a bunch of other nifty moves, I think it sets itself apart from Tyranitar pretty well. It’s not a Pokémon you’d haphazard slap on a team like you could do with Tyranitar, but with some support, it definitely has its place in the meta. I think it’ll just take time for people to realize it.

Also it crucially has a much better speed tier than TTar specifically for dragon dancing. Though just like with Mega TTar, that is probably not enough to justify using it. TTar DDance sets are very gimmicky at this point because of all the relevant pokes that outspeed it and Thorns even after a boost.

I know it was just a little thing you said at the start but I think Chomp and Dnite contest Ttar for that spot as the GOAT of OU. Dnite getting multiscale pretty much permanently secured it a spot in OU as it’s combination of attack, bulk and recovery as well as Espeed access just makes it dangerous no matter what metagame it’s in. Chomp has just shown us he is immune to power creep and can’t get phased out no matter what, he started as a fast offensive SD sweeper with the yache and LO sets, had scarf and band as options early on, then as the offensive creep started to get to him game freak blessed him with Scale Shot and allowed him to continue as a sweeper while also giving rise to tankchomp. Currently, after taking Scale Shot away and giving him spikes in its place, tankchomp took over as one of the best leads on offense teams and still sees amazing usage as a rock setter and phaser with his max hp max speed double hazards set. While Ttar and Dragonite have remained good for a long time, Chomp has adapted to each and every metagame it’s been in and managed to be a consistent threat every single time with probably the most overall usage out of any OU mon bar Lando-T and maybe Heatran. I’d give the spot to Chomp but those two are def up there as well.

  • @WellToastedBagel

Ttar is for sure UU this Gen. I tried using CB recently, and it just had no opportunity to switch in on almost anything. Chi-yu is close to 2 hit ko'ing a Ttar with rocks up, depending on investment. Which is one of the few mons that you'd like to think it could check do to the sand spdef boost. Literally any other type do to its ability nerfs its spdef, so you have to be really specific on what it is you want to check with your new type. Terra bug seems ok, as well as Terra fairy or steel weirdly enough. These options really are only meant to flip the script on a potential ttar check, eating up one of its many weaknesses and KO'ing a mon in return.
Is Tar worth it considering it's options? Clearly the usage implied it has a tiny niche over Garganacl. Being a 1-2 time check to some really big hitters like Chi-yu, Dragapult, Volc, Iron Moth, and other mons I'm sure you can do some calculations on is nice. While also carrying the coverage necessary to take advantage of its free turns to have your opponent think twice about where they should go next. But it's attachment to such a weakness ridden type is finally catching up to it, and I do believe it's fall is near.

I feel like its merits dont make up for it going to usually fall flat on mons it would need to get past like ting-lu or gholdengo without eq and or setup. I dont think its useless but too many pokemon can kill it with eq or a ground of fighting move, both very common, before it has time to respond well. The speed support options are too gimmicky to be consistent and theres better slots for setup sweeper slot. But thats just my take on it

    • @Kiyokoghurt
      @Kiyokoghurt ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@champeyan6371 actually if terad it can smash ting lu, it learns both fire and ice punch so your options arent too limited, so far when using theres 2 options I have tried with thorns, either booster psuedo choice attacker, or dragon dance setup. and it can answer some, not everything but it has its niche and using it in OU it has killed like 2-3 mons when set up properly. also it outspeeds and kills skeledirge which is neat. a very funny thing I have done repeatedly is lead it vs great tusk, tera flying and get 2 dragon dances off and kill like 3-4 mons before it dies.

The only use I’ve found for Iron Thorns is in an alt format, AAA. Dragonite with Aerialate Extreme Speed and Noivern with Aerialate Boomburst are two of the most powerful wallbreakers in the tier. Earth Eater Iron Thorns walls both easily and has the moves to take them out or Volt Switch to pivot out. It’s pretty fun to hard wall them both with such a niche option.
