@@2im36 bulky mons are typically worse in VGC, yes. However, Great Tusk has had a huge surge in popularity. It forms a great offensive core with Talonflame and Flutter Mane, and it has an advantage over Garchomp since it gets both earthquake and headlong rush, so it isn't forced to run stomping tantrum if you don't want to hit your team members.
I've actually been loving Roaring moon recently, using the set you mentioned of dance, acro, crunch and quake. I initially started using it instead of Dragonite and i've been loving it. The acro with booster energy makes it so strong, especially after one or two dances it becomes a great sweeper. Great vid Jim!
I really hope the DLC adds Hidden Abilities for these guys. Electric Surge for Iron Thorns would be cool. Fun Fact, Iron Valiant gets Skill Swap but literally cannot use it because of how Quark Drive works.
Small honor mention to Iron hand for being the most use Pokemon in Tera raid. I have no stats to prove it but my own experience but I would be surprised if it was wrong. The belly drum drain punch set as carried many raids, except when it’s been bringing against a mon that deals supper effective damage.
Future paradox are funny. The 2 of them base on sudo having trouble finding their role but the one based on the Christmas bird! Oh boy that boy is cooking!
For doubles, I like to run proto-speed Sandy Shocks with gravity and max speed Scream Tail with a wide lens and Sing. I just put everything to sleep or paralyze things with Zap Cannon
Man, I just won a 16 week draft league with Iron Jugulis as my ace on my draft bulky offense rain team. We started the league before Pokémon Home additions, and Jugs was an incredible choice scarf user and tera captain. It was so hard for my opponents to kill given how respectable its bulk is. And the general rule of thumb with Jugulis is that there are basically NO switch ins to Iron Jugulis Hurricanes, especially with Tera Flying. If it wasn’t on a rain team it’d have definitely been pretty meh, but on rain it truly shines and is a seriously underrated mon imo.
@@zerovking7629 it has 60 spdef 💀 technically in snow and AV that goes up to 135, which is respectable but not great. Life orb choice specs or booster are all much more valuable in the long term since it’s not very bulky to begin with
paradox pokemon should either act as a sidegrade of an already good mon (iron moth to volcarona, iron treads to great tusk) or an upgrade to a worse pokemon (iron hands, iron val, great tusk, roaring moon) and if you cannot do that, you're a bad paradox mon
Iron Jugulis is fine IMO since improving on a Pseudolegendary as good as Hydregion is hard without making it broken... Roaring moon gets it just because it's the "Strong" Paradox for it's game at 590 BST, not 570.... IJ also fills a role we don't have yet for Dark/Flying types in the lower tiers as a strong special attacker since Yveltal is banned/not in SV Brute Bonnet is passively nerfed in Smogon play due to the sleep clause, and for VGC it forms a more offensively oriented version of Amoongus while still keeping it's important tools of low speed, spore, and rage powder

I'm sure iron threads will see a lot more usage once the good fairy and electric types come out like Tapu Koko and Zapdos, right now all we have is iron valiant who doesn't lose to threads and rotom wash who isn't an attacker
I agree, to me Iron Treads can switch in more then Great Tusk due to having less weaknesses and one more immunity. Iron Treads being faster allows it to not only rapid spin but he a set up along with a wall breaker and sweeper. It can even be a mixed attacker if done right.

The future paradox forms (except Iron Moth) All have Charizard Syndrome: Lazy design+Half baked typing. I'm particularly upset that they didn't use the opportunity to make truly ambitious type combinations like Ice/Poison Drapion or a Dual Type Eevee.

I'm sorry but that's an abismal take. For starters, banning moves is a slippery slope. Ban RV on Eleki? Let's ban moonblast and shadow ball on Flutter Mane. Ban Collision Course on Koraidon and Electro Drift on Miraidon. Ban Hydro Pump on Bundle. The move itself has to be broken, not the mon. Forcing "creativity" won't accomplish anything. It makes the game way more complicated. Imagine a newcomer making a team and running across what seem arbitrary restrictions they might not even understand. Also, why limit the most used pokemon? Just because a mon is used a lot it doesn't mean brokenness or overcentralization. That's what bans are for. Not to mention that that sort of restriction based on usage statistics would itself influence those stats, making everything even more complicated.
Honestly they set Iron Jugulis for failure when they made him able to spawn in the same cave as Iron Valiant, like the only thing its got going over Hydriegon is the fact that if you're matched up against a Dragapult it wont straight 1 shot you with Dragon Darts but other than that it really doesnt got anything, its slower than Iron Valiant, Iron Moth, and Roaring Moon. It really is disappointing that none of these mons got a unique ability, though I can imagine some of them having the stats they do + an actually helpful ability might push them over the edge. It feels like the same design philosophy as the ruin quartet, where the abilities are all just "make my stats better", it's a bit boring.
Yeah I wonder why is Iron jugulis feel so Weak. With its special attack stat it should be good but I don't feel like it's doing enough damage. I used all the paradox pokemon on 2 different teams in OU and Iron Jugulis just feels weak. I still love using Hydreigon though
It’s interesting how sometimes a subtle change either is a huge improvement or just completely awful. Like Fluttermane I think is one of the best paradox based just on design. Comparatively Scream Tail is by far the worst design.
It is kinda lame that none of the paradox Pokemon have unique abilities. Protosynthesis and Quark drive is fine on their own as abilities, but I would've loved to see Iron Jugulis as a Dragon/Steel type with levitate, among a few other examples
Nah, scream tail isn't an amazing support mon but it's still a very good one, and wish support is a pretty unique niche in the current meta. Meanwhile Iron Jugulis just... Doesn't have much going for it

The best way that all Paradox Forms can be viable in some way is for GameFreak to give all of them a unique (Revelant!) Hidden Ability.
Most of them are already viable, protosynthesis is cracked

Fair is fair. But some Pokémon are very clearly not designed to work at full capacity in singles. Jugulis happens to be one of them alongside Brute Bonnet. They're totally different monsters in doubles

better example is Iron Hands, that pokemon is Tearing Up VGC frankly
It really is disappointing that none of these mons got a unique ability, though I can imagine some of them having the stats they do + an actually helpful ability might push them over the edge. It feels like the same design philosophy as the ruin quartet, where the abilities are all just "make my stats better", it's a bit boring.
They're basically the Ultra Beasts for this game....

Yeah I wonder why is Iron jugulis feel so Weak. With its special attack stat it should be good but I don't feel like it's doing enough damage. I used all the paradox pokemon on 2 different teams in OU and Iron Jugulis just feels weak. I still love using Hydreigon though

It’s interesting how sometimes a subtle change either is a huge improvement or just completely awful. Like Fluttermane I think is one of the best paradox based just on design. Comparatively Scream Tail is by far the worst design.

It is kinda lame that none of the paradox Pokemon have unique abilities. Protosynthesis and Quark drive is fine on their own as abilities, but I would've loved to see Iron Jugulis as a Dragon/Steel type with levitate, among a few other examples
