After last week’s challenging drums, Ola gave us a break with some really simple, laid back grooves. No complaints here! I went with my favorite mode for metal in this one: Phrygian Dominant. Neural DSP released the upgrade to Archetype Plini - the Plini X, so I decided to use all Plini amps for this one. My very first amp sim was the Plini, so it holds a special place in my heart. I think it sounds great without losing what I loved about the original. I mixed some of the original Plini sounds in here with the new ones, and I must say I’m very well pleased!

Still experimenting with lighting and new gear. Kind of went backwards this week in one way, so kind of devolved, but also progressed a little, so evolved. Re-de-evolution, if you will, or Redevolution. This title has layers.

1973 (?) Gibson Ripper Bass (not sure of exact year; Gibson’s serial number system in the 70s were God awful)

Tones (all Neural DSP):
Archetype Plini X amps 3 (left) and 2 (right) for Rhythm tones, and amp 3 for the lead at the end. Original Archetype Plini (amp 3) for the harmony rhythm tones.
Parallax for Bass.

I use a custom blend of Ola Englund’s “The One” Impulse Responses on the above.

I use various Neural DSP amp sims, but my core sound is Archetype Gojira (amp 2) blended with Archetype Plini (amp 3) with a touch of Archetypes Rabea, Petrucci, and Nolly as well as the Nameless in the mix from time to time. Bass sounds also from NDSP's Parralax. Any orchestral things you hear is from Spitfire Audio's BBC Symphony or Heavyocity's Damage 2.
