i found a video of tosin playing this etude thing years ago at a clinic in australia. he used his thumb for it tho. his thumb technique was always something i wasn't able to wrap my head around, so i figured i'll just try it with selective/hybrid picking. also i had to change the actual notes quite a bit because he's using at least the low 7th string as far as i can tell, so i kinda rewrote it for 6 string guitar. here's the link to that original video:
