    Hey guys, I really love you content, seriously. The video is informative enough to make a decision based on the threat model. And it's alot easier to share this videos with my friends. There's another popular security and privacy youtuber (who I will not name) that will that will go batshit insane if you ever suggested MacOS as a viable option for privacy. He be like: "DONT YOU DARE FUCKEN USE MACOS OR POPULAR LINUX DISTRO! JUST FUCKEN USE TAILSOS OR WHONIX!!!"
    Not saying it's completely stupid, but most of the normal users are not willing to give up ease of use over complete privacy. But his suggestions are always binary, either ease of use or privacy even though there are alot of options to have some layers of privacy and not completely abandon ease of use. Honestly your channel should be more famous than that his

      Everything to do with privacy & security is a balance and a sliding scale; every advancement is simply a layer on top of a previous one. There is no definitive answer on what every individual should use-that’s up to them.

      @@techlore Exactly! For example, not everyone is willing to switch to Signal, let alone completely ditch Facebook messenger. But how to communicate with them if that's the only way to do it? Your channel has given me ideas on how to do it and minimize the risk of privacy invasion. I can't think of anyone else doing it the way you guys are doing it. So thank you for your content, keep up the good work!

    I think it's worth noting that there's no such thing as Berkeley Software Distribution since 1994. The various "baby BSD" projects use the 4.4BSD-Lite code (BSD-encumbered used AT&T UNIX as the OS) code that was released as the final job for UC Berkeley's Computer System Research Group, that also disbanded at that time. If you grew up on UNIX with BSD, and are set in your ways, one of the baby BSD distros may be to your liking, but the GNU utilities that come with Linux are more up to date, and the Linux kernel gets much more developer support. About 20 years ago OpenBSD was a great turnkey distro that could brag about zero exploits. That has changed, but other things from OpenBSD like OpenSSH have been good for the community as a whole. Just don't get suckered into meaningless hype. The baby BSDs contain _no_ UNIX, so those who claim that they're "real" while Linux is "fake" are factually incorrect. The reality is that Linux is the most worthy inheritor of the UNIX torch, although the various groups that purchased what remained of UNIX from AT&T are still marketing the faded glory of the UNIX brand.
    There's a saying that you're not a true gearhead until you've owned at least one Alfa Romeo. For the OS tinkerer it's much the same thing--you haven't done it all until you've set up a working BSD machine. But like owning an Alfa, you may not want FreeBSD etc. as your daily driver.

    Did you really recommend Ubuntu? MINT okay, Fedora i guess okay, Debian yes for sure its good, i love it, but where are Arch based distros like Manjaro that is as easy to install with KDE or GNOME or XFCE as any other distro and tou can use the Architecht edition foo and Arch itself is missing
    For Arch dont get scared of the arch wiki,on Chris Titus channel you can find a archifi script that you can use to more easily install Arch with a desktop environment of choice, and well you choose everything like in a normal arch install

      Like you know Ubuntu has drawn more people to Linux desktop than every distro combined right? The telemetry can be disabled and since it comes with apparmor pre install , i would say its pretty secure and usable for a new user. He was talking about new users after all and not advanced .
      You can make a case about manjaro been friendly to new users...witch i truly love but then again there are things you need to know that a new user dosn't.
      Also Ubuntu community is one of the friendliest out there.
      Ps . No i don't want to read the f manual.

    • @nightmarenova6748
      @nightmarenova6748 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheExsi never read a single manual for anything either xD , i have to agree with you that Ubuntu is kinda "friendly" in regards of simplicity but i see Ubuntu just as a estetically more pleasing Debian distro... and the GNOME or the default Ubuntu can get kinda sluggish but ppl with older hardware shouldn't be using GNOME either way IF they want the MOST performance and the lowest usages from the system, as for the Ubuntu friendly community , cant really agree personally but i know some of my friends had great luck in the Ubuntu community! :D Thanks a lot for the reply tho

    How about this - you can use windows on linux. Don't be a normie - use linux, it has much better privacy and security. There's a reason why they call Windows the swiss cheese OS and with the upcoming release of Big Sur, MacOS is now considered the Fischer-Price OS. I hope you make the right choice.
