one of my favorite songs on worlds by far. you basically said everything there is to know about the song lol. that first part of the song with that powerful ramp up that just feels almost like an ascension, the culmination of life and it's experiences like a celebration of the past followed with a more downtempo middle section to reflect on life and the experiences brought to one's mind by the first act, then finally a release of this tension in the final part as a farewell. porter was so ahead of his time in terms of the electronic music scene and his songwriting abilities, at least for me, no one has rivaled. goodbye to a world is such a phenomenal track and adds substantially to porter's message of nostalgia and escape on Worlds. This album has so much depth and covers so much ground regarding the human experience and celebrating nostalgia and cherishing the things and experiences that make up ourselves. Another track on this record that creates that feeling for me is Fresh Static Snow. I assume you've listened to it but incase you or whoever's reading this hasn't: It's a song about loneliness and does an amazing job at capturing those mixed feelings when it comes to finding love and that "perfect person" (i wont spoil too much of it but just know it doesnt have a hopeless conclusion). Porter is so good at encapsulating that "happy-sad" feeling and it heavily contributes to what makes this album so nostalgic and he further exemplifies that feeling with this song. also the live edit goes fucking crazy
i first heard it (in full, heard it before in some song mashup) on a flipnote hatena animation (my sister let me use her ds so i had fond memories before it shut down), i was curious about the song so i listened to it in full for the first time and cried instantly lmao
Fun Fact both Sad Machine and Goodbye to a World are probably among the most popular English VOCALOID songs to ever be written. Both songs features VOCALOID 3 AVANNA giving both songs its unique robotic charm. Robinson himself is such a VOCALOID fan that he developed his own VOCALOID called Po-Uta.
i liked this song early 2018ish, i wasnt old enough to understand the nostalgia from it and just liked how it sounded. Listening back now, with added context makes this so much sadder, since this brand of music is a world i said goodbye to so slowly over the years i never even knew i said goodbye. I moved on and forgot.
I build nuclear submarines for a living. Every time I hear this song, I always reminded the concludedity and absoluteness the consequences of the things that I spend so much time building. I know I didn't come up with the idea of nuclear nor even the first idea of a nuclear ICBM, I still have a huge concept of blame and guilt
When you are a child, it seems like the days wouldn't end, that you will be a child forever. It only hits you when you don the body of an adult
fax bro
