Royal Canal Float to the Fleadh Part 2

- The boats move from Abbeyshrule to Mullingar in this episode. In doing so they cross over a lovely aqueduct over the Inny river and they manage to squeeze under several bridges. Once we are safely moored up in the Royal canal harbour in Mullingar town we go and see what the Fleadh has to offer. Later we take a canoe trip up the feeder and into lough Owel.

Thanks Diane, It's true what you say, the waterways just wash away our troubles, (even if only for a short while). And it's often the little break that we need 😉
Another fabulous video of our waterways and hidden Ireland. Very enjoyable.
Thanks James 👍
Love it. And so happy to see you both back travelling and posting again!
Thanks Kenneth, great to be back 👍
So glad to have received a notification of a new blog. I have been worried as to your welfare. It has been a long time. But you both look so well, of which I am glad, looking forward to watching more of your travels. I still hope to convince my better half to visit your part of the world. It's not very far away.
Oh we're still on the right side of the lawn, and expect to keep it that way for a while 😂. Hope you'll be successful convincing your better half 👍
Lovely video. 🥰👍

A great video, guys, even by your high standards. So much adventure, variety and a nice chat at the end. Thanks for everything and hope to see ye again, either here or even in real life, cruising along some waterway. God bless ye. 😎
Thank you very much David, we thoroughly enjoyed making it. Hope to see you on the water soon.

Absolutely great upload. I think you made a good decision, about uploading, The dedication from you both and driftwood over the years have really shown the world what our rivers, lakes and canals have to offer. And that, is what it's all about, trying to share the experience of boating in Ireland.
Another great adventure, the Royal Canal is really beautiful but very narrow and shallow. You two put a great blog together which are always very entertaining. We were on The Shannon
again, this year and had NO RAIN for three weeks I looked an idiot in my wellies and my shorts. Hope to see you next year (Put kettle on) Glad to see you again doing a blog.
Thanks very much for that John, that was great to get three weeks without rain 🌧️ You won't get that again 😂
NB yep, I'll have that kettle on 😉👍
Cool to see mari back on the water , will becmoving our biat from albert back to lough key in january, but gonna get a few trips to silver eel before hand
Ah brilliant guys well done great video.i love the canals there really something special. I think the world stops on the canal.but the barge with the weed hatch and keel cooled system works best.weeds are a big problem not enough traffic to keep the weeds trimmed down.i used to go down the barrow and even though I have a weed hatch I'd still leave in may or early June from lowtown to get a clear run while heading on the barrow.i truly loved the barrow. Thanks for all the videos guys.
Thanks very much Derrick. Yes I agree about the weed. When we'd a boat in Lowtown we used to head to the Shannon at Easter and not make the return journey till October. It was the only way to avoid the weed. 👍
@@DriftwoodBoatBlog exactly which is sad that you can't really enjoy the canals.I remember spending 1 summer just on the grand canal ,shannon harbour ,Belmont, tullamore, Edenderry just too and frow enjoying weekends in those places.but the weed was a real pain. Its such a shame because sometimes I find you can really switch off on a canal because its still where as a river keeps you on your toes.
Great video. Thank you. My brother and I cycled along the toepath years ago. At the time there were gates that we had to life our bikes over. I'd guess that this is no longer the case.
Thanks Alastair, ye there's a proper surfaced path all the way now, and no gates.
Loved these two videos folks! Planning a trip along the royal canal in my paddle board and camping along the way
Thanks Mark, if you get the weather you'll have a great trip. Waterways Ireland have charts that will tell you where you can get food, shops etc. Enjoy.

Hi both, delighted to find your most recent vlogs. Sorry to learn that you won't be posting as often as before .Keep well, we will keep an eye out for Driftwood on the Shannon!
Thanks Ger, and we'll have the kettle on for you 👍

you may do another trip out to france
Maybe even further afield 😉
Love your videos. Great stuff.could you recommend a boat hire company on the shannon 👍
Thanks Sam, there's only 3 big hire companies on the Shannon, Le Boat, Carrick Craft and Silver Line. Sadly lots of the smaller companies have been taken over by the bigger players. Hope that's helpful.
@@DriftwoodBoatBlog thanks that's us booked in for 7 days on the shannon with le boat .two weeks time the 16 September cant wait. It was your videos that made us want to do this.mabe see you about.keep up the great videos 👍
Great video guys. What is your air draft?
Thanks Adrian, our air draft is just 3Mtr 🙌
Hey guys i hope all is well with you!!
Hi GregS, yes we're doing fine and thank you for asking. NB we're filming on the Grand Canal at the moment and we'll have a new video out shortly 👍

Hi guys,
Thank you for your content. I am tempted to book a shannon cruiser but I have 2 young kids so having the boat heated at night is a priority. It is my understanding that having the boat connected to shore power while moored should accomplish that. I wonder if there is anywhere I can get a map of the moorings and whether or not they have shore power available? Thanks in advance.
Hi and thanks for that. Almost all boats will have a diesel hot air heater that is completely independent of the engine and runs off the 12v batteries. So you won't need a 240v plug in at night. Just mention it to the hire company if/when you book. Hopefully you will go ahead and have a great time👍

Just wondering what the air draft and beam of Driftwood is?
It's about 3 MTR aircraft (with the canopy down) and a 3.3Mtr beam 👍
oh well done guys pure simple magic on the water never say good buy yer videos are honest and true to being on water 🚣♂️🚣♂️👍
Thanks very much for that Conor 👍
