      Kinda annoys me when I see people say that kind of crap. But the NSA that people talk about happened after I left. And I was military when I was there. Military personnel had this grilled into us over and over as something called USSID 18. It was a serious no no to record a US citizen unless there were some legal requirements met - like warrants.

    • @bluesdealer
      @bluesdealer ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dustinolvey8877 it really wasn’t, though. It resonated because so many people identified with similar towns IRL and were becoming nostalgic as that America began to fade into urbanization and moral relativism.
      Btw, my ecumenical “not about conservative vs. liberal” sentiment from over a decade ago was cringey and naïve. The force driving the soul out of humanity has definitely been the progressives. It goes back to the progressive eugenicists of the late 19th century, Marx, Nietzsche, and even Marquis de Sade, but there’s definitely a correlative thread of materialistic fallacy driving human misery.

I almost told him, but when I got the chance I didn't. I'd like to think that the collective wisdom of the ages is greater than my own, and we have such a confidentiality for a reason. IDK what happeed with the relative, but had I told my friend, I still wouldn't know either way.

    I like how everyone thinks that this is a presidential issue. It is not, it is a governmental issue. Regardless of who the next president is there will still be wire tapping problems. It is the duty of the people of these united states to press the issue and take back our right to freedom of privacy. The difficult part is convincing millions of Americans that they are responsible for their own security, from terrorist and government.

    I grew up watching The Andy Griffith show. It was my dad's favorite show as a kid, and I grew up on the reruns.
    I can't say I've seen every single color episode, but I've seen every black and white one at least three times. See most of the color ones too.
    It's funny to me how conservative America thinks that the show was so in tune with Republican values. It could be at times. Plenty of examples as to why they feel that way. Yet if you watch the show and you pay attention to it in detail, there's plenty that would coincide with how liberals and Democrats see the world too.
    In fact what the show really was and continues to be is not a case for conservatism or a case for liberalism, but a case for what is right.
    A case for putting aside political affiliation and political allegiance, in order to do what is truly right. The Andy Griffith show wasn't about being conservative or liberal or anything politically.
    It was about doing the right thing. Being just.
    I think that's why it resonates with so many people regardless of their backgrounds

    All of a sudden, I recall a similar thing occurring some time later in the "Bored She Hanged Herself" episode from *Hawaii Five-O*, which was redacted from the series after a youngster copied the action(s)he saw in said epi and ended up dying because of it.
    Some time ago, that full episode was here in TH-cam, and the psychologist(dad of the young lady who died in the story) shared a tape recording he made of the boyfriend's conversation with him(he never cared for him, BTW) with Five-O head Steve McGarrett; after they listened, McGarrett said something to this effect, "No, this isn't admissible. We need proof that can actually go to court for review; a judge, after hearing this, would turn us away."

    My dad would take away the tape-recorder, take the tape out, and brake it.
