Though if you get in a fight with a Jumbo then a couple PZGR40 rounds can be useful but if you use tip one you will not need to use PZGR40. 3. Only carry 20-25 rounds max. The more rounds you carry the more likely you are to be ammo racked! Believe me you will almost never use all of your 20-25 rounds. 4. you were right.. I was frustrated when I got this tank @ first especially how it died easily when not angled.. when I learned to angle, this thing is a beast.. great video tank.. love the comprehensive series..
Every german newbie should watch this excellent video! Something I wanted to add: Gosh man you said people should angle that thing yet in your gameplay I see nothing but aggressive underangling. It is usually a reliable strategy to "overangle" to the point that your side 80mm and frontal 102mm plates are mostly immune to the common ally guns. That may expose the 62mm plate behind the tracks but for some reason most players I face dont shoot there. It is important to give your opponents minmimal time to react to you, both when you brawl and snipe so they can't exploit your weak spots (including the overangled 62mm plate). As you mentioned, shooting without hitting the breaks is very important, because it gives the enemy tankers a lot less time to aim, I think.
My first experience with the tiger h1. I took and held c point on a tropical map for almost the whole match. When I headed back to it just before the match was over. I saw two tiger tanks on my own team hiding behind a hill behind c. I was so pissed at them. The only good thing about it is I got 25 kills out of it. Had my reload speed been slightly faster, I would have got the tank that killed me.
For the love of God tankenstien, only bring max 30 shells in a match. Your not going to face 80 tanks, so that makes you a ticking time bomb to get ammo racked. Sorry for yelling at you
IN sniper matches, it pays to have a full ammo loadout. Less need to get out of position to get reloads. Tigers in WT aren't sluggers or brawlers, they're too fat and turret traverse is slow. Panthers are a bit better for mid range combat.
I as a Tiger player. Experience warhunder when they had it balanced against late war allied tanks. I was hard to pen. But I was invincible. I could deal out the kills. But I had to play smart. But they changed all that. I'm literally facing off against cold war tanks that can out speed, load gun me.
Pro tips: - Pzgr. is now better than PzGr 39. Difference being that Pzgr. always kills in in one shot due to the new overpressure system. Difference in pen is negligible and only matters when facing IS-2's at long range. - Angling your hull is not very reliable at close ranges as soviet 85mm's can pen your 62mm lower side at

A thing to add: Don't front line brawl in the Tiger H1, as it can lead you to hyperfocusing on one target and leading to a quick death because the tank you're focusing on has support. You can brawl a little bit, if you know their weaknesses and if you're in the E, but the H1 is a no go, due to the S-mine launchers.
I find HEAT shells effective for enemies hiding behind small cover or hills. The lower velocity allows for a more angled shot. Literally the only time I use, so I only load up a few.
Thank you very much for the helpful video, I’m a new player and I’ve been grinding a couple trees trying to get my play style figure outed and I just ground out my tiger 1. Found everything in this video helpful and relative a year later after posting.

Great guide! I hope this guide can help people who just got tiger 1, and maybe increase tiger 1 win rate a little bit(though 53% win rate is pretty good, i thought it was gonna be lower, idk how is 2 got 40ish% win rate)and make german player don't cry about tiger 1 br. Btw as I've noticed why did you bring so many round? 23 round seems enough for me and reduced ammo rack explosion significantly. Btw keep up the good work you're truly underrated WT youtuber
If you angle you live. Proof my first game of the tiger h1. Someone destroyed my cannon, so all I had was a machine gun. I hadn't finished researching Parts, because it was my first game. After taking out my cannon I kept angling and shooting my machine gun, and got 8 assets with no deaths.
Imma put down this stuff (my opinion on tiger 13,000 xp away) Treat it like the Panzer 4, it has a good gun but weak armor, so either angle or if you know the enemy has a really good gun hide yourself or the hull From what I have figured out and heard that 102mm plate wont come in handy if you don't angle, considering the Panzer4 literally has a 164mm pen shell, yeah angle Get the panther after because it's faster and will help in CQB maps ALWAYS look around corners in enemy territory, you are never tol paranoid Shoot the font of M4s near the turret because that spot is weak and most of the time instantly kills the enemy If your gun gets deded (or any part of it for that matter) smoke and run, kamikaze wont save you.
my own tip for playing the Tiger, consider the tank as a medium tank instead of an heavy tank, it has a decent reverse speed, a good turret traverse speed, angle in diamond shape ALL the time, the main canon can kill anything, the jumbo's weakspot is the machinegun port, your biggest weakspot is the space on the front, center of the glacis where the driver port is (one shot there and you're dead), the second important weak spot is the cupola, any shot to the sides will kill you, if you meet an IS-2 you will most likely die, you DON'T need to use the other researchable APHE shells, your basic APHE is already powerful enough to one shot everything, the other researchable shell loses penetration for more TNT. just use the tank as a support tank, sniper or a flanker, it is NOT meant to be used as a heavy tank in Warthunder. if you want an heavy tank at that BR, take a Panther and DON'T angle your panther, the front is strong enough for most tanks, if you angle a Panther you're dead (unlike the Tiger).
btw, i noticed Tankenstein is going to battle with a full ammo load, DON'T, check the wiki page for your vehicule, go to the ammo racks sections, bring the minimum "comfortable" amount of shells possible (which is 21 shells for the Tiger H1 in my opinion), that way if a shells hits an empty ammo rack, your tank will not detonate; it's good especially against solid shells. 21 shells on a Tiger H1 means the right side of the tanks doesn't have any shells in it and you will drastically increase your chances of survival.
Blowing this tank is simply a stress reliever for me. T-44, IS-2, Jumbo 76, and T29 (if the player purposefully uptiers it to 6.3 or 6.7) totally destroys tigers even in a 1v3 scenario (ive had a couple of games where i just drive around in my T-44 clicking on tigers while bouncing off their unaimed shots) Sadly this might not be the case anymore :( Also, i personally dont think angling the tiger will help much against 122mm D-25T used by various soviet heavies or even the 85mm D-5T. Especially if you have your left (right from enemy's perspective) corner of the hull exposed. It is barely 105mm thick, and a penetration to that area will 100% detonate the ammorack. The only way to even have a chance of surviving a fight against something like an IS-2 is to angle while completely hiding said weakspot using obstacles. Of course this is not always possible to do in every situation (e.g. on flat maps with minimum cover available), and you might just have to accept the 5k sl repair cost.
I see you saying that getting ammo racked is an issue with this tank, but if you carry 10-15 rounds, that might be less of an issue over your crew getting knocked out
I’ve always thought that gaijin should add a “historical” mode, where you can use the German heavies to great effect, and experience which country’s tanks were actually better in their time period. honestly I don’t think it would be super unfair, if you look around TH-cam you will find hundreds of videos with M22s and BT-7s killing panthers easily. I think it would be a good challenge for experienced players in allied tanks, and a good beginner friendly environment for newer German players.
RB is already a “good beginner friendly environment for newer German players.” Germany is so much better than everyone else at this BR that it’s like you’re playing Doom lmao. And since the BT-7 and M22 *can* kill a Panther, let’s just move those up to 5.7 because they’re clearly too op
I have tiger h1 but im not going to use it until i have the panther i already noticed on BR 3.3 with the Panzer IV that im not good enough to play at an even higher tier so i will stay at 3.0 and grind to the panther
"This is not real life, this is War Thunder" this needs to be said more lol. When silly mechanics kill you and someone says "yeah but in real life if that happened you'd be dead too"
guys just remember that if you use the pzgr. if you manage to pen you are gonna kill by overpressure the enemy i use it a lot and cant find the penetrating power difference betwen the pzgr39 and pzgr.
I guess Germans were confident about the vulnerable sides of this tank even though all the ammo is over there because they planned attacking as packs of tanks and all the other friendly combat elements around them. Do you think that's the case here?
Fun fact: on the official field manual for tiger one crew, in the section for tank commander it states to always angle the hull towards the enemy. Even dividing the four corner of the hull into into meal times; you have 10.30 the front left corner as breakfast, 1.30 as lunch, 4.30as coffee, and 7.30 as dinner. When encountering a enemy angle the nearest meal towards the enemy, if there are more than one angle towards one and shoot the other first.
Im 3,000 research away from getting my first Tiger, (the Tiger-H1) and this video helped me tremendously, however I have one question: What is the average kills per game for this tank? Plz reply with your average kills in the tiger H1 so i can get an idea thank-you!
Fun fact. Most tanks avoided the tigers. T34s could not pen front. This was common tank warfare lesser tanks avoided bigger tanks and called in artillery. And yeah the 2 advantages the tiger had was armor and range. In tank battles the experienced crews would have multiple kills before other tanks even got in range. They often decimated t34s and Sherman's had no chance until the brits got tired of it and added their own 75mm guns aka the firefly. The greatest tank victories for US and Russia was how many they could produce.
You've read my mind! I was thinking about doing the Panther, Sherman, and T-34 first. It might take two weeks between videos due to the amount of gameplay I need to actually make a guide video, haha.
I did! I'll be making a Panther guide in the coming weeks, so I'll be working on getting that gameplay footage. If you're in the Discord, you can join!
Shouldnt you research brakes before dampening? I heard online that the dampening does basically little to nothing at stopping the wobblyness when going so braking faster to get still would help more no? Just a thought. Im pretty new to this game anyways with only about 130 hours under my belt. I unlocked the tiger and took it into arcade just to get blasted in the first 30 seconds, your vids are really helpful thanks!
16:22 fun fact the Germans were the only country to develop magnetic anti tank explosives called "Panzerknacker"😂and applying Zimmermant was a pain in the ass and wasn’t all that safe so they just decided to cancel it. (Edit) this video saved my ass as a German main thank you ❤️❤️❤️
this is mostly great advice. that being said, do not shoot planes? that is not good advice. If you have a secondary MG turret, use it. kill those planes before they wreck you or your team. if you cant shoot down planes then take his advice, but i highly recommend everyone practices shooting down planes either in test drive or arcade survivals so they are not helpless when they run into good Close air support players. CAS dominates especially in the higher tiers but you have better chances if you at least try to shoot them down
For jumbos, the first thing to do is break their barrels. This would make them a lot less dangerous. Then, maybe a teammate will see what you're doing and finish them off, perhaps from their sides. Otherwise, while they're repairing, you can aim for their machine gun port. In my experience this works quite a bit. Otherwise they run away and that's okay. Also hitting them from the side, even at a angle, is a good idea to try before aiming for the mg port, since the latter is sometimes difficult. Or you can flank the broken barreled Jumbo. That works too.
how to deal with sherman jumbo : step 1 : load APCR step 2 : one shot the entire crew step 3 : profit if no APCR is acceseble please follow the following instructions step 1 : load APHE step 2 : shoot at the HULL 1919 MG step 3 : pray to the snail that volumetric armor won't fuck you over step 4 : profit
@@oliwer23pl95 I was referring to second half your comment I know weak my port but I play nations with good APHE ie Russia but never get lucky with crew kill. So other ways to counter jumbos be nice
Not too bad of a guide but one thing which made me cringe a bit was with the Tiger Befehlswagen on Sands of Sinai when you mention it and said it has more armour when angled and even angled it towards you enemy in the video. While yes this does buff the already extremely thick 200mm front plate to even more armour in effective thickness, you failed to mention the angled armour on the front corners of the tank which are much, much thinner, 82mm to be exact. For those unsure of what I mean look at this tank from above and note that unlike the E and H1 variants the corners are not at right angles, they are angled. The problem this causes is that if you angle too much the weaker plates in these positions become perpendicular to the enemy shooting you and thus they can penetrate easily. This tank is played with essentially no angling as it isn't required in most cases, doing so will result in a penetration of that weakpoint like I said as pretty much any gun shooting at you can penetrate that but likely won't penetrate the front plate if you are unangled. No hate or anything, just sharing my experiences.
Don't complain about getting ammo racked if you play with full load of ammunition, carrying 90 shells in a match(arcade, realistic, simulator, its all the same) is completely useless, take only about 30 shells, which you'll see will be put in the central storage of the tank, near the transmission, instead of the sides, you can also see it in the x-ray mode. Apart from this, good overall video

Its amazing that i just watched a few vids like that just to play the tiger properly xD,man you gotta love or hate war thunder to do it :D.
my own tip for playing the Tiger, consider the tank as a medium tank instead of an heavy tank, it has a decent reverse speed, a good turret traverse speed, angle in diamond shape ALL the time, the main canon can kill anything, the jumbo's weakspot is the machinegun port, your biggest weakspot is the space on the front, center of the glacis where the driver port is (one shot there and you're dead), the second important weak spot is the cupola, any shot to the sides will kill you, if you meet an IS-2 you will most likely die, you DON'T need to use the other researchable APHE shells, your basic APHE is already powerful enough to one shot everything, the other researchable shell loses penetration for more TNT.
just use the tank as a support tank, sniper or a flanker, it is NOT meant to be used as a heavy tank in Warthunder.
if you want an heavy tank at that BR, take a Panther and DON'T angle your panther, the front is strong enough for most tanks, if you angle a Panther you're dead (unlike the Tiger).
also i forgot, expect to be uptiered 90% of the time.
and also the best line up is the 5.7 lineup by far.
btw, i noticed Tankenstein is going to battle with a full ammo load, DON'T, check the wiki page for your vehicule, go to the ammo racks sections, bring the minimum "comfortable" amount of shells possible (which is 21 shells for the Tiger H1 in my opinion), that way if a shells hits an empty ammo rack, your tank will not detonate; it's good especially against solid shells.
21 shells on a Tiger H1 means the right side of the tanks doesn't have any shells in it and you will drastically increase your chances of survival.
The tradeoff is that while it faces stronger opponents, it's transmission doesn't ever randomly break. 😂
I would get tracks before crew replenishment, for mobility
tracks are better, better neutral traverse meaning faster angling meaning more chance to survive
Blowing this tank is simply a stress reliever for me. T-44, IS-2, Jumbo 76, and T29 (if the player purposefully uptiers it to 6.3 or 6.7) totally destroys tigers even in a 1v3 scenario (ive had a couple of games where i just drive around in my T-44 clicking on tigers while bouncing off their unaimed shots) Sadly this might not be the case anymore :(
Also, i personally dont think angling the tiger will help much against 122mm D-25T used by various soviet heavies or even the 85mm D-5T.
Just play ussr for stalinium. What a pro
Also a tip: carry minimal amount of ammo, I find 20 plenty
Also if you have no other option use ur engine as armour
now i'm waiting for tiger 2 guide
Play like the panther in the tiger 2 P play like the tiger 1 in the tiger 2 H
firing on the move is great and all but, unless you are fighting a jumbo, "back it up, back it up, nah, nah, nah, back it up"
I see you saying that getting ammo racked is an issue with this tank, but if you carry 10-15 rounds, that might be less of an issue over your crew getting knocked out
Tiger 1 vs Crusader?
Oof
That wouldn't even be enjoyable.
here you go mate you deseve it happy holidays dude
And since the BT-7 and M22 *can* kill a Panther, let’s just move those up to 5.7 because they’re clearly too op
sturmpanzer can kill modern tanks to bro
@@sabriskaguvensski8590 you mean brummbar
I have tiger h1 but im not going to use it until i have the panther i already noticed on BR 3.3 with the Panzer IV that im not good enough to play at an even higher tier so i will stay at 3.0 and grind to the panther
a very good tip for everyone playing wt is to bring 10-15 ammo so you dont get ammo racked
I literally never play germans and i want to try em thanks!!!
Great informational vid appreciate it‼️
Thanks for all that job, it will help !
"This is not real life, this is War Thunder" this needs to be said more lol.
When silly mechanics kill you and someone says "yeah but in real life if that happened you'd be dead too"
_Camp Thunder: Who Stares Wins_
guys just remember that if you use the pzgr. if you manage to pen you are gonna kill by overpressure the enemy i use it a lot and cant find the penetrating power difference betwen the pzgr39 and pzgr.
I guess Germans were confident about the vulnerable sides of this tank even though all the ammo is over there because they planned attacking as packs of tanks and all the other friendly combat elements around them. Do you think that's the case here?
well thought out guide.
Amen, finger
I watched your videos everynight till i fall asleep. I hope you make a flanking video guide. I don't know how to flank properly. Thank you
Fun fact: on the official field manual for tiger one crew, in the section for tank commander it states to always angle the hull towards the enemy.
I really need a Guide on how to use the tiger h1 i really appreciate it
Tiger is great in it tier. U got the deadly gun, use it. Alway angle your armor. Never go alone.
can you do panther next
You've read my mind! I was thinking about doing the Panther, Sherman, and T-34 first. It might take two weeks between videos due to the amount of gameplay I need to actually make a guide video, haha.
It's litterally a block of butter in WT
you saved my life thanks
You can also use less shells so they put it in a safer place
Hey, can you make tips/guides for leopard 1?
That would be grateful
Yayyyy you got it done!
I did! I'll be making a Panther guide in the coming weeks, so I'll be working on getting that gameplay footage. If you're in the Discord, you can join!
@@Tankenstein if you need Panther footage let me know. Got a bunch of 10+-0 matches. I also main the Panther A so I'm pretty good with it.
Shouldnt you research brakes before dampening? I heard online that the dampening does basically little to nothing at stopping the wobblyness when going so braking faster to get still would help more no? Just a thought. Im pretty new to this game anyways with only about 130 hours under my belt. I unlocked the tiger and took it into arcade just to get blasted in the first 30 seconds, your vids are really helpful thanks!
thanks
16:22 fun fact the Germans were the only country to develop magnetic anti tank explosives called "Panzerknacker"😂and applying Zimmermant was a pain in the ass and wasn’t all that safe so they just decided to cancel it.
(Edit) this video saved my ass as a German main thank you ❤️❤️❤️
I am not a good angler to say the least, I have gotten better, but to practice i usually run with 15-20 shells and make it count
Who needs a guide to play the most OP tanks?
Thank you for this.
What kind of ammo loadout do you recommend? And how do you angle if you don't know you're being sniped?
this is mostly great advice. that being said, do not shoot planes? that is not good advice. If you have a secondary MG turret, use it. kill those planes before they wreck you or your team. if you cant shoot down planes then take his advice, but i highly recommend everyone practices shooting down planes either in test drive or arcade survivals so they are not helpless when they run into good Close air support players. CAS dominates especially in the higher tiers but you have better chances if you at least try to shoot them down
Fun fact: noone used magnetic mines widely, it was most likely used by germans
You will still be sniped from a mile away by a Tier one scout car .
So it seems to me that the Tiger is more or less a tank destroyer with a turret that has some armor on the front
The A variant of the 85mm would like to know your angled armour's location
I only hold about 15 to 20 rounds in my tanks usually, I don't have my ammo explode alot more now
5:50 is where you need to go for the modifications
Even with this the tiger problem is still going
I played the tiger after 3 matches I never touched it again because all it fights is 6.0 and up just a cardboard box with a nerf gun
"Tiger is a heavy sniper"
Me german main: ok time to play Soviet
Hope you cover some other tanks 5.3 5.7 br like jumbos are nightmares to deal with.
That works too.
how to deal with sherman jumbo :
step 1 : load APCR
step 2 : one shot the entire crew
step 3 : profit
if no APCR is acceseble please follow the following instructions
step 1 : load APHE
step 2 : shoot at the HULL 1919 MG
step 3 : pray to the snail that volumetric armor won't fuck you over
step 4 : profit
