- Playing War Thunder has been increasingly annoying to do. One of the main reasons, for me, is the fact that Gaijin balances vehicles based on player statistics rather than vehicle performance. One of the most glaring examples of this is the German Tiger H1.

Sorry, I know this is a bit jokey and odd, but I needed a break. I'm also not saying that everyone that plays Germany is bad, just that Tiger players seem to be extraordinarily unskilled.
That's probably due more to the idiots that think the tank is invincible, rather than those that actually know how to play them

Yeah also there needs to be more of a buffer from the panzer 3m to the tiger. Also I think people need to learn to play the panzer 3s first before playing higher tiers cause you need to aim with the panzer 3

@@vonathenbrod8498 go for the cannon barrel if you can, if you can't, go for the lower left turret ring. If you use the 17 pounder mk8 shot, it'll go straight through, killing the gunner, commander, and most likely knocking out his cannon breech.

@@Rena_Skuxy Volumetric means that your shells now have size, so if you're aiming for example at the base of the turret of some tanks that have a concave, the shell is actually too large to fit in that gap and will result in a premature detonation because it hit some outside piece.
The bad thing is that your shell can hit like the tiniest overhang of some outside pixel and detonate the shell when reality is the shell would have just knocked that piece off with minimal penetrative impact.
Before volumetric was introduced, shells didn't actually have a size, the shell would be calculated to be a pixel wide so massive shells could slip into tiny space.

I think they could fix it by adding central priority for fusing the shells so that stuff hitting the sides wouldn't count as a hit to the shell's tip (essentially more volumetrics but yeah)
My problem as a tiger player is not that i dont know how to kill jumbos, its just that a lot of the time, I, as someone who is barely playing for a year, come up against people who play since 2013. They always catch me off guard, spot me from 5 kilometres away, or react faster than a formula 1 driver on cocain.
This is always what happens to me and ive been playing for about half a year or a little more but another problem is that it's like whenever you see a jumbo your gun is always gone immediately or before you can even try to angle, your 1 shot and killed

I started in 2015. Retired out a year later and only recently came back. A lot of skills I picked up back then still stayed (somehow) I just miss having AI on the battlefield when certain objectives pertaining to the map happened as events. Destroy x or protect y. Hate that they removed it. I also remember solid shot being better 7 years ago and not relying on aphe type ammo as a crutch. Yes I do mean Ground RB

4: Don't rage quit after the first tank you face hit one of your turrets weak spots and kill your entire crew.
@@DarkTheFailure shot for the turret. There are a lot of weak spots there. Do a fast research on youtube or play a while in the Hangar and you will learn them. Just don't shot for the strip, it has the double of ammor there. Also depending on your tank and how the Tiger is angled towards you, you can still pen the driver visor, wich will let to a instant kill.

German teammates when you're on your team always suck for some reason. When you're playing against them, they spot you from halfway across the map, click yon you and you die.

@@b3lka_ meh , history was really more like 1 single german tank that have to deal with a lot of others vehicles , including planes, infantry, artillery's fire, and a lot of support vehicles such as mechanized infantry and motorized infantry.
The Tiger I was really good as a mobile bunker , in fact a pretty big number of Tigers were able to survive after being attacked by allied forces.
Of course the M4 Sherman was a wonderfull tank , HE WAS A GOOD SON, MAYBE EVEN THE BEST!

But at the same time it was produced as a main battle tank to be deployed in a lot of fronts (indeed it fought everywhere). The Tiger was not supposed to be the main tank of the german army. It was a response to the soviet's tanks

@@b3lka_ the big biggest enemy of the tanks was the infantry, engagements between tanks in the western front unlikely happened during the war unless you were on the eastern front.
M4 Shermans were more than the total amount of the total german's tanks in 1943. Just for a comparison, there were built 49.000 M4 Shermans , against 1500 Tiger I and 6000 Panzer 5, none of them were designed to stop the Sherman, indeed both were deployed in 1943 , where at the time no Shermans were on the European soil.
The infantry was a big deal, if you Say something different you should Read more history Books, also the Luftwaffe was out of fuel (as Well as the Wermacht) and it was used to stop the bombing of the allies bombers all over Germany.
I can personally attest to this as a Britain player. Whenever i bring out my Churchill MK vii and clearly angle my armor while approaching a tiger, the tiger players will shoot my angled armor, fail to penetrate and continue shooting the same spot. None of the tiger players i have come up against have realized that A, i can't hurt them from the front and B, if they shot my turret they would pen.

I've come into this problem as a Tiger player. Most of the time it's just a matter of me not being able to hit the turret reliably as opposed to not knowing I'm supposed to, whether due to distance or visibility.

I literally can't remember a single occasion I ever had that happen to me or visa-versa. Mostly I just remember constantly having my gunner killed or cannon broke by Brit tanks (Usually Centurions) with APDS rounds that make a mockery of your armor from any range, or getting nuked by IS-2, ripped apart by a T29. Or an M18 GMC hidden behind seemingly every single rock, hill, bush, wall or any other nook and cranny rush up and ammo rack you in one shot because the game forces you to keep shells in your side hull even on minimum ammo load.
@@cnlbenmc as a British player, yea we have 2 choices, kill your gunner and you will just reverse into cover or we can kill your driver and then you will kill us.
That's part of the reason why in most of my games I get like 1 kill but 8-9 assists by constantly destroying gun breaches
+@@afox5319+ Centurions are (or used to be) virtually indestructible from the front in a Tiger I except maybe APCR to the Mantlet with a E model or a lucky lower Glasis hit that almost never seems to be visible. And don't even get me started on the Mk.10 that has a 105mm L7 gun and the same BR as a Tiger II H, a weapon that is still in use today mind you!

@@TH-hs8xv APHEBC are magical shells tho, they can pen the front armor of the jumbo with 135mm of pen at 400-500m distance. APCBC are weirdly modelled shells with 150-190mm of pen, which cant pen the front expect close range the panther can (thats what the germans/americans are using)

@@peepeepoopoo2535 track, ok, but the jumbo will shoot a Panther or tiger twice before it can get another shot out. The German guns have a huge muzzle break which is very easy to hit. Jumbo doesn’t so the round will easily bounce off the barrel giving it two shots into you. Also because of the huge muzzle break usually a jumbos first shot breaks your gun, since they have stabilizers etc. German tanks do not so you have to wait a good 4 seconds before you can even accurately shoot at them.

The Jumbo and the Tiger H1 are a pretty good match for each other they both have only one weakspot on each other and the difference is that the Tiger has more Pen with APHE a much better ballistic arc while the Jumbo has a higher rate of fire APCR and a stabilzer. Yet the tiger should be slightly higher than the jumbo because of its overall potential mainly its firepower . I would say 5.0 for the Jumbo and 5.3 for the H1 the E and 76mm are a different story

Honestly, more videos like this is something i'd totally be on board with. A deconstruction of war thunder's nuances as a game thrown in to add a bit more spice aside from the whole tank series you're doing. Would personally love to see more of this type of content

As far as the jumbo's mg port being a weak point, I honestly thought it was bugged. Because I have put dozens of shells into it just to have more that 80% bounce due to desync or shitty slope detection. I assume they must have fixed this at some point in the last few years, but honestly I just moved to air because ground is so damned broken and the grind was easier.

No, it's 1.45 coming from about 1.5 km to the tiger, supposing that the tiger did spot them, a sherman would get out of the confrontation, because the tiger is easily destroyed by 2 shermans. It's like 1942 Russia, t34s can pen the tiger, but at close range, so heavy losses at long to mid ranges, but good enemy destruction at close range.

But there were usually more than one Tiger too. Tigers operated in zugs of 4. There was usually at least 2 or 3 Tigers together.
Very rarely would it be 5 Shermans against 1 Tiger. So no it doesn't come from that as that figure didn't really exist.

How I feel about KV-1 players.
honestly the only way to properly use the KV-1's armor is to A N G L E. In fact basically every Soviet tank hinges on angling your armor to survive any enemy shells. Flanking is the best strategy for any T-34, and the KV-1 is good at dueling other tanks, but using cover makes it even more powerful. I've been playing almost exclusively Soviet, and I think the only way to even be good at them is to know how to use your tank's strong points in every way possible. They don't benefit from pointing and clicking (most of them, anyway) to kill things unless it's from the side, and it's actually quite easy to penetrate their armor, especially the turret, and especially if they don't angle. So flanking, angling, and essentially being the first to shoot is how you survive most encounters. (I don't have premium and after reaching 5.7 I stuck to playing 4.3 because that was the most fun for me. I haven't played top tier or much Cold War era so I don't know anything about that.)

However, as a german you basically just have to activate your brain for the slightest moment to aim and most enemy vehicles can't stand a chance. Even angling helps only so much.
@@Kaiser282 yeah the angling is a bit of a hit or miss. Either shells keep bouncing off you as the enemy stares in disbelief, or someone decides to actually aim up a bit and kill everyone in the turret. It's quite funny when the first scenario happens, and I can remember more than a few times I was dueling 3 different tanks as their shells kept bouncing off, even in a thinly armored T-34

@@Kaiser282 the worst thing I can think of for German tanks is that to me Panzers are free candy, so long as I shoot before them. Also screw your tank destroyers and their frontal armor.

I play the tiger, i just use it to snipe and honestly i consider it just a large Panzer IV, its easily penetrated if you are not careful.
German Situational Awareness is a problem the whole tree suffers from. From Reserve to 10.3 they never see more than what the gun sight shows

So i got a tiger finally and the advice in here was helpful. I did notice some of the same problems. One issue i have though is the issue of identifying a jumbo, their move speed in relation to the tiger, and the resistance to penitration both angled and un-angled; when it comes to saying the tiger is better than the jumbo. The commanders hatch is a hole different issue when it comes to tanks and the shell simulation, and we can't undo those who put bushes on the front of every tank or just the jumbo to hid the weakness. Another issue is that if you can't identify a jumbo from a regular Sherman it doesn't matter if you get the first shot off. I'd be interested to see a video from you where you covered how you would rework battle ratings (I've enjoyed the few occasions it has come up) and maybe a guide on how to identify specific tanks or tank types when it is hard to tell them apart. Love your videos.

I find the jumbo part a bit ironic because Jumbo players turn off their brains and rush towards the enemy and when they die, they’ll be in a plane for rest of the match trying to revenge bomb
I just realized...in the later war the Germans had a lot of under-trained crews in their remaining armoured vehicles...Gaijin has created the perfect late War German crew in the noobs who rush the Tiger!
yes but i rushed the tiger already having tank experience myself so i was already well experienced with it. there are some good tiger players but definitely some dumb wehraboos.
But late war Pz. IV crews post Kursk where still an armored force the E8s, Cromwells, and -85s got mauled by and respected the threat of.
@@Mangos1021 The strength of the H1 and E is the ambush and sniping power of the Kwk36. With Pzr 39 and good knowledge of your target at range, you can do very good. Going into a fight trying to use the supposed superiority of the 100mm/82mm armor mix is just gonna get you slapped.
I've given up trying to use the H1 in its original envisioned assault role, and have gained slightly more success in using it in the historical lore fantasy role of ambush sniper. I've gained 5+ kills versus 1-2 in the assualt.
More Tiger players should've realized this by the time Fury came out, but I think our species is mentally regressing...
but I am not exactly sure Tigers were given to novices as Tigers were produced in limited numbers and considered as elite heavy armor / tank killer. It sounds like it is more applying to medium, more standard vehicles like Panzer IV. However Germans lost many crewmen it is possible that they even could not replace elite crews for Tigers and gave those to halfly / under trained crews as the great war continued.

Well yeah the M4A3E2s and M4A3E8s were rather well known for their deadly guns, and in the E2's case armor, among German tankers and infantry. The preferential targeting and mis-identification of these tanks bordered on the level of Allied "Tiger phobia".

i was similar. i didnt like auto cannons. i hated that play style. i switched to russia and liked the early armor that is had, and stuck with it. i am a heavy tank player at heart. i love finding underrated vehicles with worthwhile armor and dominating with them. russia has a few, so do germany and the US. i like to play off of opponents lack of knowledge of obscure tanks weakspots.
@@tristanwentink5735 Two days ago I found a Jagdtiger in my T-50. I asked him in chat if he "wanted to be frens". After ignoring me for like 3 minutes and trying to get away, I shot his barrel dead and chased him off until a friendly Pershing drove by and killed him.
I have more of a problem with the turret traverse, reacting to sudden threats on the Panzer 4 is so much worse than on the T34s, hell the KV as a heavy has the same traverse as the 4.
I only played Murica. Until I got to 6.3 and got the slow M26 that's the same be as the T-44. Now my highest stat tank is the T-44-85 its bloody awesome
Whenever i see jumbo angling his armor, i just shoot underneath the track, mg port isnt always a solution.
His bathtub is more reliable way to kill it than shooting it's side armour.
You know what I dislike, no tanker would know any of this. You'd just be happy if the other tank didn't kill you and your crew. Fucking used to think War Thunder was an accurate tank simulation lol.
Tbh I never knew this. I always thought that with the Tiger I it was a MG shot or pray to the Jumbo angle a little too much so you can overmatch his side armor. I'm opening the game rigth now because I want to understand what you've said.

I have to admit I was once the hover-shoot tiger guy, but now I learnd to play with my brain. Of course im not close to this guys skill but im working on it. The only problem with jumbos i face is that they tend to cover the entire front with an extra ton of bushes, and then I have to take 1-3 shots to adjust my fire to the mg port.
Change PzGr. 39 to normal PzGr. 10mm doesn't matter that all when playing tiger at it's br, but hitting for instance t-34 breech and breaking it with 39 ain't worth hitting said breech with normal PzGr. and overpressuirng crew, same goes with IS tanks that use engine as cover, shot engine, crew overpressured and same with jumbo, just hit transmission since you can pen here and overpressure crew

The tiger was easier to grind to than most trees, and well aside from the hype, I love tigers but I am half brain dead in rb. I usually go fast in American tree, still getting used go slow with germans.

British 17 pounders are synonymous with German players dieing inside. Basically just sending the main gun straight through their front plate. The centurion and comet are more unholy with sabot and abusing Panther players

A player with 2.2k hours here, already completed the German tree and boy is it a massive difference at 5.7 to 6.7. Tiger H1 Players are really dumb that's a standard fact now. KING tiger players on the other hand seem to generally know what there doing (Maybe they don't angle because they don't need too).
From my experience German players after 6.7 mostly really good (most of them being sweats).
A year later and this is still very much present.
Honestly the only problem I have with the jumbo is trying to differentiate between it and a normal sherman.
German tech tree players: JUMBO CANT BLOCK MY 88MM

Russian 85mm: Don't make come down there punk.

Recently started playing and have been having so much fun, but now I’ve watched so many videos about how bad the company kinda is, and now it’s slightly making me not wanna play as much, out of fear of the tanks that I use unfairly be moved up or even down on its point system. I really think the game is great, but it does have a lot more problems then I originally thought it did.

I always thought the change from 5.7 to 5.3 for the H1 was crazy. Mid BRs (4-7.7ish) is such a hellscape of poorly BR rated tanks that are either useless when up tiered to utterly dominant when down tiered. Use to be 4.7-5.7 was hella fun

The hetzer and the jagdpanzer IV can really brawl and dominate at a downtier, and can also be quite effective at an uptier

One thing i noticed is how almost all the tigers were too close to the action and not using the 88's main advantage of being a sniper cannon.

I played 5.3 tank RB a while ago and the Jumbo was the bane of my existence. I almost had a heart attack when my Zis-30, with its 145 millimetres of pen, failed to defeat the jumbo’s side turret armour. Yes, I used the zis-30 at 5.3. It was quite a good Tiger-killer
Reminds me of the early days of "P-51 Won the war, and then watching my entire team go heads on with Fw's and 190's or try to turn fight zeros and spitfires and get slaughtered.
I liked those days...I could count on such P51 for kills...

another typically pretty good spot at a bit of an angle is the lower hull sides, which are not as well armoured as the upper sides (if you can get past the tracks)

When I see a Jumbo, it usually cowered in bushes, hides MG behind a rock, or is so far that I can't aim precisely, so I try to shoot in a gun to at least make it unable to shoot me.

That's one thing this video doesn't take into consideration. The mg port at a distance is barely possible to hit ( with bushes). Even after finishing the tech tree coming back to 5.7 it's all bushes and aggressive play style.

This reminds me of the time I as a panther A had to save 2 tiger players fighting ONE jumbo. I told them to shoot the MG port, and they said their barrels and tracks were obliterated.... I hardly believe them.

Tiger players are complete idiots, one time i was playing on Tunisia and a stupid Tiger player was raging in the chat that his 88mm can't pen a jumbo while the 75mm could pen his UNNANGLED Tiger at CQB range... I go with my Tiger E angled, i bounce 3 or 4 shots and i one shot the jumbo by firing at his tracks...

Most of the time i play with the Tiger i get 5 or 7 kills, i really don't fear Shermans. T-34-85s are more dangerous in my opinion but if they miss their shot they are dead.

lol. kinda funny how they say that alot but theres one thing that they also got wrong about tigers. tigers were only good at medium to long range engagements with shermans. there were tests done with both 76 and 75mm guns that showed that a sherman closer than 300 yards away could penetrate the front plate of a tiger and ive rarely seen that happen in warthunder

I find the tiger h1 easy to use but when using the tiger e you tend to be uptiered to fight against centurions and t26 super Pershings which are very hard to pen with the tiger. For example only being able to pen the super Pershing in the gap between the hull and turret. But without the tiger e and the 5.7 panther it’s hard to get a good line up.

This is historically accurate, they are using child soldiers now, its 1945 now
Also, I've noticed that many german players will fully stock their tanks ammo, resulting in disproportionate amounts of ammo cookoffs/detonations.
I personally just fully stock ammo at anything below 8.0 because I fucking hate being shot and then just sitting there and being able to do nothing while waiting for the enemy to die. Prefer to just go out in a boom. And well it also doesn't do that much at any tiers below that since the ammo isn't in that bad places.
most matches i only load 20 and sometimes even 15 shells on my russian heavies, but really i'm starting to think that does not matter because i can get pen at any angles by the germans i face, resulting in one shots from the wierdest of places. really at that point i may as well take full ammo and stop pretending like i have armor.

@@theredwesternraptor4209 Until higher tiers, that isn't true. really T-34 is the only tank at my tiers i would consider has good enough slope to only win marginal bonuses when angling. KV-1/2, while having some angle, present still a very flat surface combined with having very low thickness, you kinda have to angle. PLUS, may it be from KV-1 or T-34, you stand a better shot at surviving a side shot at an angle, or a turret shot than you do a shot through the front plate. plus you can bait the stupid german drivers by angling slightly more your sides, baiting them to shoot the side armor, and flicking right as their gun lights up to close the angle, ususaly resulting in a bounce. This is life or death situation since Russian heavys have both worse penetration and worse reload than what they face, so you have to bait the shot if you want to even have a chance at taking the bastard down

I had this one time where the game glitched and a Tiger I with APHE penned the heaviest armored part of the Jumbo's turret going through pretty much 200mm of armor. It was either a glitch or a few pixels where there was no armor lol. I reported that to gaijin and they fixed it, at least that is what they said.

I think I know why the Jumbo was removed from the Techtree in World of Tanks Blitz,it didnt fit the stereotype of the Sherman and was a bit good,so instead of balancing it they removed access to it.....just like my Favorite Tier 3 TD,the T-82,too good so they made it impossible to get and even then it was still good so they simply made everyone that had it be stuck with its mediocre Howitzer(Mediocre compared to its best Howitzer.....RIP T-82)
as a germany player I have to admit, the jumbo really made me angry when I first encountered it... but it didn't really take much to find out the MG Port is their weakpoint, my only problem is to identify the tank from far away in RB as a Jumbo and not a normal M4 since Shermans look all the same to me and there are like infinte versions of the M4A3 so which one is the Jumbo.... all these things are what really safes those Jumbo Players from gettin oneshot by me. If I get a second shot, that's it for the Jumbo, and by angling the armor and keeping distance the Tiger really overpowers the Jumbo(IF YOU TURN ON YOUR BRAIN XD)

This is one factor, the other is that any encounter from more than 200 meters you can't reliable aim for the mg. I lost count of how many times I overshoted a little and my shell hit the stronger plate instead of that sweet mg. Well, sometimes they are brain dead themselves and try to aim at your hull, so you get a second chance. But most of them realize sooner or later(usually sooner) that they need to shot at your turret.

Yes i used to be one of those players that rush straight for tiger which messed me up a lot, now i no longer have an issue but i still get one shotted if i don't angle, i know how to play the tiger now but still get the max of 1 kill per game before dying
