Wayne here. Artist since I was young. I'm 75 yrs now. Painting is breathing. Love watching you paint even though I am more precise ,careful, argh! I can't find the word. A word to the fellow in England, you have the Cotswolds, Cornwall, wales, Yorkshire Dales and the place where artists want to go when they die,the Lake District. Don't complain.
Hey Turner, I find myself laughing at how you slap and dab and push your paint until it submits and out of a gosh awful mess this amazing scene emerges!!! Thanks for sharing. Oh...Christian, riding instructor, Grandmother, Hobby Artest, love mountain wilderness. God bless. Keep up the good work!!
I've been watching your videos since you came to Montana! I love your direct approach, your explosive brush strokes, and the freedom of your style! Watching you inspires me to loosen up and paint fearlessly!!!
I enjoy watching people who are very good at their craft. A carpenter people that work in concrete, pouring patios, driveways etc. You are very interesting because of the terrain you go to to paint. You are very interesting. Keep up the good work.
I have a Bachelor's in art from a four year college. I learned the same amount in watching TH-cam 2-3 as I did in college. It helped solidify what I knew from that experience. I like to watch TH-cam to relax.
Retired teacher turned amateur painter from Canada. Learned a lot from you. Thank you for believing in the power of open teaching and passing your knowledge forward!
Hello Turner I am an amateur artist and an admirer of you and many artist ! Van Gough is a favorite of mine ! I’ve painted starry night and sunflowers a lot ! I enjoy watching you ,it inspires me to lighten up and enjoy the moment ! Thanks for inspiring me !
I would have given up at the first three fallen trees. I'd be saying "I need a chain saw here!!" I am an artist--returning to art after holding down jobs, and writing novels in my spare time. I decided to go back to art in my retirement years. I have tried to get out into our forest preserve, which we live on (management), and have been able to get an 11x14 painting done on an 85 degree day, this year. Not bad, I think for my age. I finished it up in my studio but hey, I did it and was happy with the result. Just love watching you, Turner, with your art and adventures. I work in acrylics myself, and really have found it relaxing to paint.
I am a female artist 65 years old. Years ago I painted mainly en plain air. However, now that I'm older I hardly ever go out of the studio. I just found your utube channel yesterday and I LOVE IT. I will be a regular viewer. Thanks for sharing. It brings back great memories for me.
I reserve the word "artist" for someone better than me - even though that might subjective. Nevertheless, I enjoy painting, and most appreciative of art, and those who participate in it. Especially, those of you who take us on these outdoor expeditions and teach us how. So, thank you for what you do.
outdoor oil painter for the last 20 + years.. love watching your oil demos..You are brave to paint so large outdoors and with very very generous amounts of paint!!!!
I started with oil paints capturing landscapes on canvas that was in my head. Then I started dabbling with plein air to expand my talents and then started pet portraits. As long as it involves painting, I’m for it and watching your loose impressionistic style really helps me open my mind to new techniques. Thank you for what you do. I live in Minnesota and love capturing the changing seasons in oil.
I’m a landscape painter in Alaska, for 11 years now, and I am drooling over the explosion of colors on those hillsides! It’s absolutely spectacular! Been watching you since you started on here.
I started painting in oil in 2018 after retiring in 2013. An amateur who has sold some paintings at plein air event auctions and to individuals, friends, and neighbors. I enjoy your painting adventures. Thanks for posting.
A dabbler is what best describes me. I enjoy creating with several media. Mostly, I paint with watercolor. In the spring I started your on line basics class but then summer busyness came. Restarting again soon as the weather changes. I always enjoy your videos and am inspired by your vision.
I’m a hobby painter,a lot of landschaps, portret etc.I like realy Watch ur painting, full of colors …amazing!! We all Enjoy painting, verry peacefull hobby!!Thanks for the good work my friend! Be safe.
Artist working in oil and gouache still life and landscape mostly for my own enjoyment for 35 years. I do take commisions ocassionaly. I'm a big fan of your work and so is my Jack Russell Terrier Jazz She is watching you paint right now.
I’m an outdoor oil painter living in the foothills of the Cascade mountains about 30 minutes east of Seattle. Watching your videos when you post them is a highlight of the day! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Turner; I am a landscape painter living in Ohio, and enjoy your videos; some of the scenes in your trip to the creek were so colorful and worthy of painting in themselves. Montana scenery is very fresh and new to this Ohioan. Thanks for your adventures.
Great painting! You asked viewers to leave a bit about who they are...I'm in my mid 60's and only started painting 3 years ago after we retired and I needed a hobby. I'm self taught, with the help of TH-cam, and have been painting with Acrylics, but starting to dabble with oils. I watch for inspiration and tips.
To add to the comments and partly satisfy your curiosity, I’m a avid spectator to artistry. I really enjoy the creative process. And In truth I have an ambition to be far more active in art, I am a fringe dweller of the art scene and I wish I was more. I enjoyed your painting, I have been enjoying your painting for about a year or so. I find your extravagance bewildering but also intrigued with the honesty of your style. These little bits of watching over your shoulder as you create really do inspire me. As an aside at the start of this video, the area looked burnt out, was this so as it looked that way from my experience in Aust.
Fellow landscape artist here brother. Painting for two years and becoming more comfortable laying down that thicc and juicy paint. Love your style man 😊
I paint. Artist or not I guess is up to those who like(or don't) my paintings. Your videos are my escape and interest of your loose style. I enjoy your outdoor paintings and the scenery of the places you go to paint. I'm 58 with heart & leg problems(due to an injury), so I'm limited where I an go. I used to go way-off trail in my younger days. Guess I envy your youth a bit. 🥲I mostly paint from memories with photos to help, or live set-up studies. Thank you for sharing with us!
Hi. I’m in Australia. Only’s been painting for about 4 yrs…. In acrylic. Have never tried oil. I love seascapes… maybe because I was born and raised 200 metres from the ocean. have to love the surrounding land also… only so Much blue and green I can look at without feeling seasick. rocks fascinate me….. the wear and tear and torture of the elements, followed by the peace. This is an outlet for me, and you sure can paint rock! I’m always afeared of painting trees. I try to get them toooooo accurate , but learning from you to be loose. Your loose style suits me… allows me to be un afeared …. Less precise but allowing more detail , if that makes sense. Your style is relaxed and casual, which I need. We all need. Love your shapes, the curves that soften, and the quick strokes that add the drama. I’d like to think I’m “experiencing “ more colour, not concerned about colours clashing, nature doesn’t worry about that… those colours just learn to live with each other in harmony. Thank you for that. Think your attitude impresses me the most. Calm, but enthusiastic. You are a pleasure to watch . There you are trudging through swamps and rocky crevices without concern, and I’m glued to the screen on snake watch for you. ….. lol, true story. Yeah, you can paint what’s real like no other, it’s your home and pride , and blood and pulse and mountain air and affinity are in every stroke. You are the best, and I thank you for sharing. Bless.
I’m an artist who works as a cook for a living, which I enjoy as I can paint whatever I want without the need to sell the work. I have learnt lots from you and recently had health issues including Covid, so as soon as I get better I will complete the course that I bought from you 😊
I’ve just started painting a little over a year on a more regular basis . Just a hobby for now . I really like watching you move a lot of paint on the canvas and you seem to know where your going .
I am Puerto Rican and Italian Artist who lives in Philadelphia...I consider myself to be a multidisciplinary artist. I LOVE NATURE and wish I had more time to venture in plien air painting... since my time is limited I can alway count and look forward to join you in your journey with nature and your impressionistic style...I admire your dedication...keep up the great job in sharing your audience the importance of creativity!!!!! 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
I'm 85 yr old retired pastor come painter, these last few years. My subjects are mostly Serengeti, Africa, my birth continent. I like your eccentric style and personality, whereas I am predictably a little more photographic.
Hiker and amateur painter here in Palm Springs. I watch your videos because I am fascinated by how much paint you use, and i am trying my best to paint in a more impressionistic style and with MUCH more paint. Impressed by your dedication to getting to the scene.
Thanks so much, Pauline! When I was studying I found it not at all intuitive to paint loose and impressionistic. You might find some helpful info in my free workshop, or online course, there's a link to both in the description. Thanks for the kind words!
Hi Turner, I am a amateur painter on my journey to become a full time professional artist in the near future. Currently I am working in a 5 day ( full time) job. I have become a much better artist by watching great artist like you, Andrew Tischler, Cesar Santos, Sean Cheetham, and Bryan Mark Taylor to name a few on TH-cam. Even though you all have different ways and style of expressing your techniques of visual work, I have learned a lot over last two years. Hope all is well with you and your family. Hello from Green Cove Springs Florida. Thanks for sharing your work. Joe Kirkpatrick
Great ! good to see you again making the great American landscape. I'm also a painter many years now but no landscaping, i live in Israel. You go and confront wild nature, i like it very much, cheers
I am an oil painter, painting mostly seascapes, I do a few commissions , but mostly paint what I like to paint. I'm in New Zealand, and I find your style unique and interesting.
Hi there, am just watching you latest. You wanted to know who was watching, so I am 67 and retired but have ben dabbling in any sort of art for a long time. Mostly painting. I like to have a go at anything. I have only just started Plein air
I am a latent abstract expressionist by education (mid 1970s). Still working as a technical illustrator to pay the bills. Thoroughly enjoy and am inspired by your freedom with paint. Also, my grandfather was a sheep rancher in the Bitterroot Valley. Fond memories of visiting as a child in the 1960s. His ranch was somewhere on Dry Gulch Rd.
I am calligrapher and part time plein air artist, watching your videos regularly, your way of painting is very impressive. Love from Pakistan.💖 & all the best.
Love your videos. Retired chemistry teacher from Calif, now living in Ohio. Semi-pro watercolorist (I've sold just a few). I miss the West; your videos help me recapture that feeling of grandeur. I especially love your sense of color.
I love watching your videos I learned a lot from you! Thank you so much! I only picked up painting 7 months ago I started with watercolor and sketching. I am now doing acrylic and have gotten pastels. I am doing this for myself and it is one of the best things, it brings me so much joy! So once again thank you!
Picked up painting over COVID lockdowns and went straight to oils. I’m pretty stoked with my progress so far but I still paint fairly tight and thin, so love the freedom and thickness of your style. Gives me inspiration to loosen up.
This inspires me to loosen up too! Switching to oils has started that process for me…but still have leaps and bounds to go. Good luck with your art journey! Let me know your Instagram handle.
On team learning to paint. Have watching your videos since mid 2020 and appreciate your work. Thanks for continuing to create on video so we can watch!
After 15 years as a professional photographer I recently discovered painting and it is developing in a passion! My game is oils, impasto on canvas and wooden boards. You work is inspiring me to carry on, thanks!
I love impasto, but do you have issues with your paintings drying. I mean I want to share them or sell them this year, not wait months for them to dry. I've perfected the use of oil sticks, not oil pastels, which I use as well, but actual oils sticks like shiva etc. I did an impasto painting last night and really enjoyed it. But worried about drying.
I am an artist I prefer, I prefer to paint landscapes, you are very lucky to live where you live so close to mountains and rivers etc etc . I live in England. we have to drive to get to a forest. and ours are mostly full of green trees bushes etc. yous contain many colours. I enjoy your videos and the loose painting best wishes Ken
I am a mostly self taught student of painting. I love your passion for painting and sharing with others. You love your family and it shows in your work. Keep up the good work. Thanks
Oh my God ... Its fantastic... Using different shades of vibrant hues in an interesting way ...and turning out in a great beautiful painting ...great job . You have a beautiful Autmn around you Subhan Allah Thankyou so much
Admire your tenacity to get to that location. As a plein air painter I have gone into some difficult places but nothing like that. Started watching you in the beginning of the pandemic. Keep inspiring
Hi Turner, I recently started watching your videos because I am trying to improve my painting. I really appreciate you sharing your skills with me and others because it works and it is very kind of you. It helps that I love your paintings and really want mine to look more like yours. I don't want to copy you exactly but I am learning plenty from you. Thank you!
I've been painting murals for 35 years with a few paintings here and there. Watercolor, acrylics and oils. Murals were mostly children and realistic. I want to learn how to 'loosen up'.. I love your style! Thanks for sharing 🙏
Thank you so much, Fred! If you're just starting out, you might find some useful info in my online workshop, it's free. (there's a link in the description of this video if you're interested!) thanks for the kind words!
Hi Turner ~ As a painter you're amazing to watch. I'm always in awe from beginning to end. I am an amateur painter mostly teaching myself. I am going to enter my 1st plein air event in Driggs ID this summer.
I’m an amateur - been drawing and painting since I was a kid. Started watching your videos in early Covid times and have really enjoyed them. Definitely inspired me to paint more. Thanks for that.
I am retired and started painting about 12 years. I paint with acrylic paint. My son moved to Montana a little over a year ago and now lives in Stephensville. I am going to try and get to your studio when I go to visit him. Enjoy your videos
I read your comment and do you mind if I ask you a question? I just retired and have a passion for painting, started with acrilics, assuming it will y easy. But all my paintings become dark as soon as I finish. With your experience could you give any advice how to avoid it? Thank you.
I’m a hobby artist. I’ve been watching your work for some time. I like your style I like your videos and art. You really got me into landscape and seascape painting. And plain aire Mike B
A little late to the party. I've been an artist for a long time mostly making jewelry and now mostly belt buckles and I'm trying to transition to mostly painting. My ultimate goal is to be loose but accurate. I feel like you've accomplished that. I like your videos your process is incredible. But also the day-to-day life, the painting in the garden, the hiking through the rough of montana. All good. Someday I hope to be able to afford one of your small pieces.
Greetings from OZ Turner. I'm a practicing Artist and admire your freedom and direct approach to portraying Landscapes in general. Keep on swinging dude!
I live in southern Alberta. I started (or re-started) painting after 40 years and mostly paint Aspen forests (because I own one and love the trees). I have a style but love checking out other styles and it is a pleasure to watch you slap on those gobs of paint. Love the results.
Its always amazing how these paintings come together. It feels so middle painting stuck (from an artist view on how I paint) and then at the end it comes together like magic. It seems so hard to paint this way, but at the same time very protected from the ways of AI painting coming out.
hi turner...i lived in montana many years ago and love your landscapes....i am a portrait painter...have done a few landscapes and it was such a freeing experience...want to do more...thanks for the inspiration*
Appreciate your energy and execution. I'm retired and I'm venturing to do plein air. I have one trip under my belt into my backyard with my dump garden cart loaded with watercolors and inktense stuff. I'm going to try oil and gouache next. Sorry you're having a rough time getting to your painting locations. I wouldn't stand a chance with going where you go. My next venture is getting out further than my backyard. If it's any concession you're painting reflects the wild uncertainty of nature. I know I'm overloaded and overwhelmed by all the different mediums. Good luck 👍 Jerry
I have really enjoyed your videos and they have piqued my interest in plain air painting. I am a Mountain Line Bus Driver in Missoula. I have a n MFA in German Lol! I sketch and paint. I do geometric ballpoint pen sketches, which are often studies for my paintings. I currently am painting with acrylics on canvas, but used to paint with watercolors and gouache on paper. I collect Native American Art, particularly Hopi Kachina Carvings as I am originally from Tucson. I am also teaching myself art history. I watch tons of art history documentaries and subscribe to several art magazines. I thoroughly enjoy watching you and have learned from your videos. Although, it is not plain air, I did a realistic landscape painting of the DNRC here in Missoula from a cellphone pic. I took. I used the basic techniques of watching you and others and my painting turned out nicely.
I'm a hobby painter but want to paint full time. I love painting landscapes and use oil paints with both brushes and palatte knives. I love your painting style....lots of loose and thick painting! 😍
Amateur artist here...acrylic & watercolor. I want to give oils a try. I love watching you create your paintings. Love seeing the choices you make with color and composition. Thanks for sharing!
You need a strap, so you can strap your canvas on your back, as well as a shoulder-strap for your easel, so you can carry it hands free on your shoulder. Then you will have two arms free to catch yourself if you fall (and to serve as balancing counterweights). I am at 3:22 in the video and am afraid you are going to fall. (You could also then pick up a long stick and have a pole to help you navigate when you are crossing over on a fallen tree, etc.). Also, long pants (or zippered pants that can become shorts) to protect your legs from sharp branches, etc. Also, per your question; I am recently retired and getting back into painting, so I will call myself an artist. I also appreciate art (as, I suppose most artists do). Every time I watch you set up that easel, I want to tighten up the legs so they don't wobble. [final note, I hope your bear spray is (loosely) attached to your belt for easy access]. Did you end up painting over the central black/grey cloud?
I'm an artist in Taiwan, I don't like to go out to sketch, your videos give me the motivation to go out to paint, and I really like the colors you use and the fluidity and thickness of your paintings. Thank you! 🤟
THANK YOU for sharing your beautiful artwork. I’m an artist watercolorist and oil painter as well. Your artwork is awesome with vivid colors, it sings. WOW!!! Carmela, from California.
Am learning oils. Started in watercolor. My degree back in ‘1975 was in Botany. I did 3 months backcountry research in high sierras of Sequoia National Park. At 70 I love walking but am done with backpacking. I love your youth, aggressive attitude towards your painting. You have so much integrity.
I wish to become a messy painter , so many strokes with different brushes , blobs paints making sense, and so beautiful. It’s pleasure to watch you . Loving your children. Thank you Sir
You can do it! You might want to check out my online course!

Yes, I'm an artist like you, been painting since 1976
I am an oil painter, painting mostly seascapes, I do a few commissions , but mostly paint what I like to paint.
I'm an artist, not a professional by any means but trying. Love your videos...
I’m a watercolor artist. I’ve watched all your videos. Very inspirational. Thank you
I am calligrapher and part time plein air artist, watching your videos regularly, your way of painting is very impressive.
I am an artist watching your vids and I love them!
I love watching your videos I learned a lot from you! Thank you so much! I only picked up painting 7 months ago I started with watercolor and sketching. I am now doing acrylic and have gotten pastels. I am doing this for myself and it is one of the best things, it brings me so much joy! So once again thank you!
Wonderful, thanks so much!
Whistling while you paint- you happy painter you!
Well...it also lets any wandering animals know I'm in the area!
I paint! Live in the Netherlands. Kind of dreaming to go pro but for now just an amateur. Love learning from your loose approach!
Amateur from 1st lockdown, you inspire me everyday, thanks
Amateur artist , here in Australia. !
Love your work… talent and attitude ✔️✔️✔️
I am a mostly self taught student of painting. I love your passion for painting and sharing with others. You love your family and it shows in your work. Keep up the good work. Thanks
That's very kind, thanks so much 🙏
Oh my God ...
Its fantastic...
Using different shades of vibrant hues in an interesting way ...and turning out in a great beautiful painting ...great job .
You have a beautiful Autmn around you
Subhan Allah
Thankyou so much
Thanks so much
Amateur stuck in suburban sprawl. Love watching you out in raw nature.
thanks so much, hopefully you can find some bits of nature every once in a while!
Admire your tenacity to get to that location. As a plein air painter I have gone into some difficult places but nothing like that. Started watching you in the beginning of the pandemic. Keep inspiring
thanks for the kind words, Louise!
I am someone who would like to paint and learn to paint well. I enjoy your videos and I love your work and style. Thank you!
And plain aire

Hola Mr Vinson, musician and mostly watercolor paintor from argentina, love your paints and videos, thank you
Cool!
Mi piace molto il tua maniera di dipingere...sei la mia fonte di ispirazione!!!!! Sei Van gogh dei tempi miei....complimenti non smettere mai!!!
Greetings from OZ Turner. I'm a practicing Artist and admire your freedom and direct approach to portraying Landscapes in general. Keep on swinging dude!
amateur painter here! been following since the start of the pandemic
I’m an artist. I’ve learned so much from you! Love your work!!
Thank you! 🤟
Hey ❤️ watching your paint adventures…
Thank you so much 😀
THANK YOU for sharing your beautiful artwork.
Oh wow, that sounds like an amazing experience! thanks for your kind words
