I just got a Brother Dynamic Walking Foot set -- and want to thank you so much for your clear demos. The instructions that come with the set are hard to understand.
Thank you very much for the info on the dynamic walking foot. I ordered it today because my regular walking foot does not do decorative stitches. Yes, dynamic walking ft is pricey but as long as it works and do what it’s supposed to do, I’ll be happy. Thanks again to you.
Thanks for the explanation, just realized why the decorative stich i tried with the walking foot jammed up my machine.. cannot move backwards.. make sense now
This demo was very helpful to me as I learn to use my new Brother Sewing Machine and sew with the walking foot. I’m sure I will refer to the video often.
Glad you enjoyed it. We also have our own sewing network with videos, patterns and a wonderful community of quilters. And, you also might enjoy the whole series of QAYG on our sewing network and many others. Our Fearless Quilting (QAYG) Challenge has started. All segments will be posted in our Studio Y network. Hello, first time at your channel and a new subscriber. I believe I'm at the right place. Very clearly explained. I've just very recently learnt how to use a sewing machine. However, I've always been a hand sewing person fixing my clothes or doing crafts by hand. I will need your help. I want to sew some quilted placemats, meaning I will use 2 layers of cotton fabric and the batting. Having said that, my sewing machine (a Silver Crest brand) doesn't include the walking foot and it seems I can't find it. Can I use the regular presser foot or will this cause a problem to the machine or the finish look of the sewing? Thank you for your time and help. Happy Holidays to you. 🎄
A low shank foot would fit. However, on a machine as small as the 5500 there are very few stitches that would benefit from the dynamic walking foot. A regular walking foot would be a good choice for you. And it will fit your machine.
Does it make sense that the straight stitch looks a lot straighter with the walking foot vs regular presser foot? I’m tempted to just use walking dog for everything since the stitches look much better
@@TheSewingBasket I see. Maybe the tension on my machine is off too. I feel like the bobbin thread on my straight stitch often looks more defined and straight and neat vs the top thread. The Top thread stitches appear slanted and slightly curvy vs the bottom seems to be more “straight “
Do you know if there is a big difference between the basic Brother walking foot and the cheapo amazon/china versions? Im sure the metal one brother makes is probably superior to all of rhem
I just got my SA brother foot but it didn’t come with a quilting guide attachment. I didn’t read anywhere in the directions about not going backwards either. What makes the stitches go smaller and larger as you’re just going along? Having it set up for 2.5.
@@francineeubanks9327 usually uneven stitching is caused by “drag”. If for example you are quilting the layers together on a table runner, the runner hangs over the edge on to your lap. You need to hold the runner up so the walking foot can pull the runner evenly through the machine. It isn’t strong enough to pull the runner up, so hold the runner up and even with the machine bed. Hope that makes sense. Also when quilting set your machine stitch length to 3.0 or 3.5.
@@TheSewingBasket thank you for responding. I have a huge table so I don’t have to worry about anything dragging but my machine is not set on 3 or 3.5. I watched a video and they said do 2.5 so that’s what I was doing.
@@francineeubanks9327 2.5 is an average stitch length for sewing most things. But for both quilting and top stitching you get a better look with a longer stitch-3.5 or 3.0. We have lots of other video on our channel and our website www.sewingbasket.biz. Good luck with your project.
@@TheSewingBasket Thank you I’m starting all over again. I have ripped it all out and after I check out some more videos I’m gonna start again. If my machine acts up it’s going to the shop cause it’s new.
So does this claimed walking foot tear up the inside of the machine? The claw is my concern and what it does internally after a year or two. I tore up my metal Singer in the inside after two years of it jarring parts that were not designed for that drag in of material instead of a true walk. I have a true walking machine on my leather machine and the mechanics are not the same. I use a lot of fleece in my sewing.
We've been a machine dealer for over 9 years and have never had a machine problem caused by a walking foot. Most of our customers are quilters and sew 2 layers of cotton and batting.

The walking foot helps reduce puckering. Try stitching your layers together and see how it goes. There are generic walking feet available also.
Hi, the for sharing the information, will this foot work with a Brother XL 5500 special edition sewing machine.

Is there a walking foot to do 1/4” for quilting and piecing?
The walking foot on the large Brother machines has a 1/4” guide. The smaller feet do not.
Will the set with the additional quarter inch and stich in ditch feet work with this deluxe walking foot.?
Sorry for the delay. No, this foot base is attached and not changeable like the Mu-vit foot is.
How much,I would like to order

Does the dynamic walking foot suitable for NS50 brother model machine
Yes. Sorry for the delayed response.
Will this work with the HF27
I’m not familiar with that model. Most machines have a compatible walking foot if some type.

What I don't get is how you cant do backward stitching with it. Isn't that how you're supposed to start and end the sewing you just did?
Use the lock stitch. It does 3-4 stitches in place. Or manually do 3-4 in one place.
