EXCELLENT!!! I have fast fingers, but it came from training my BRAIN. The brain needs to know the FEEL of passage played correctly. This is when I practice very slowly; and once my brain gets it, I begin speeding things up little by little. My fingers respond without my thinking "oh, here come those thirds" or whatever else. It just does it automatically. It's no different than walking.
We all know...if you can play it slowly, you can play it quickly 😂 (sorry, I just have to comment it, I actually really enjoy your videos though I’m a pianist. Interesting to see how other instruments deal with their specific problems)
Hello! I am playing a fast piece right now for a Symphony called "consolation" and I was struggling with it. This has helped me so much with understanding how to practice in the future and I love your channel.
I’ve been playing the flute for 1 year now and I can play the B flat scale really fast thank you ( I love playing broke music on my flute super fun to learn) I also have been playing the piano for 4 years now I love playing easy Star Wars thanks for the tips:)
Small question, out of pure interest, as a flute teacher and player I need to know, why do you play on an "inline"? Regarding quick playing, i see difference between students with offset g and inline. As you are an amazing teacher i am interested in your opinion. Thanks!
hi amelie, i’ve noticed that some of my high notes (everything G6 and above) tend to crack a lot and i can’t play them very softly. what long tone exercises would you recommend? in the exercise i’ve been doing, i set my metronome to 80 bpm for the quarter note and holding out each note of the chromatic scale for 8 beats going all the way up and then all the way down. what are your ideas? thanks! i love this video btw, definitely helpful.
Yes! This is perfect. 😁 i have a lot of questions and practices to do for an upcoming christmas event. 😊 thank you for all these tips & help! Looking forward to more flute videos & "Just Practicing" (my favorite portion). 😁
I'm currently a beginner with the Flute in my grade 8 class. I only get to practice during music class which we get twice a week, however I have privilege lol. I'm the only person who's very quickly progressed with the Flute and I'm planning on auditioning for my dram highschool with the Flute, along with auditioning for acting. Performing arts program yk? So this is very helpful information for me to absorb. Thank you.
I’m struggling, I’m going into 9th grade (freshmen) and I’m doing band camp and yalll it’s tufffff!!!! I’m struggling the most with memorizing it and getting it to the right speed woodwinds are doing 4/4 triplets at 168bpm for about 8 measures and it’s hard for me bc I’ve never played that fast before! Thank you for this video it helps a lot 😊😊!!!! Thank you so so much!
Fantastic video, everytime I play faster my grip always gets tighter as well my shoulders, it's like I get so tense when I have to play faster. Is that normal for students to do?
Sometimes it is. With practice of foundations (scales, etc) and sight-reading something new everyday (even a easy etude) will ease your body and build confidence. All of this will in turn let you focus a bit on your posture and hand position so that you feel even more relaxed. I hope that helps.
You are very good at explaining things. I have a problem with balancing the flute. I want to get to the point where I can get around the flute non-chromatically and the flute not move. I tttry to catch what you are saying about the ergonomics of playing the flute and the alignment of the body, but you use a lot of visuals and I am blind. Can you be a little more verbally descriptive when you are doing something visual? I love your channel! Thanks for all the tips!
I think flute has just become a stereotypical girls instrument, which is kind of sad. Its probably because it's more of a pretty instrument than a powerful instrument. In my 15 person flute section at my high school there are only 2 guys, they don't get criticized for it or anything by the people at my school.
Emmanuel Pahud. James Galway. Jeanne-Pierre Rampal. Just those three easily negate such unwitting naysayers! (P.S., of the middle school students I tutor, over half are male. Go figure, that.)
That song is so much fun! Slow work with a metronome can do wonders! After a day or two you'll get it! Happy practicing and say hello to your flute section!
Aww thanks. We've been trying to get there attention. But to no avail. Collab one can hope one day. Leave comments on there videos and on the subreddit.
Ling Ling doesn't want you to know these secrets. Be sure to watch it again if you missed anything. Don't know how long this will be online. ;)

YES!!!! First one I think to guess!
@@flutechannel nice! Hear it all the time, twoset just proved that kangaroos don' t enjoy it, as well!
Saw that, Kangaroos and classical music dont seem to mix contrary to what Saint-Saëns has been telling us.

Don’t feel bad bro. Look into James Galway. He is a master flutist with an amazing sound. A flute is an instrument and anyone can play it. 💯❤️🔥
Emmanuel Pahud. James Galway. Jeanne-Pierre Rampal. Just those three easily negate such unwitting naysayers! (P.S., of the middle school students I tutor, over half are male. Go figure, that.)

How do I pick up music fast within a few hours...?
Hi it is Emily❤
Tbh if u wanna play fast piece that is meant to be fast, practice slowly first than slowly but surely play it faster till the original speed.
i can play faster but i cant play for a long time because i'm not able to control my breath...
I can play fast but uneven, what can i do?
A metronome will help.
I laughed at LING LING lol
2:02 Czardas
The band that I play in, we're playing 'Russian Christmas music' by Alfred Reed. Really struggling with the sixteenths and the sixteenth triplets :(
That song is so much fun! Slow work with a metronome can do wonders! After a day or two you'll get it! Happy practicing and say hello to your flute section!
i have a band midterm in two days and my piece is NOT up to speed im gonna cry
practice slowly with a metronome and just have fun! I'm sure you'll do well!
