The movie Companion brought me to this gem!
Same!! ❤
Me too!!
Me too
Same ..
Just saw it and love the song
I love it when movies introduce you to good music. Thank you, "Companion."
I heard it for the first time In the movie and loved it
The best movie to start the new year off with..."companion" brought me here 🔥 for 2025😎
Hands down best movie of the year and likely all year
@macaulayculkin5022 totally agree with you on that 👍🏽💯
This song came out in 1986, the year i graduated high school! Memories! Thanks, Companion, for bringing it back.
Me too, Class of 1986 here, now almost 40 years later, Companion brought it back big time for the new Gen to enjoy great 80’s music
The movie Companion brought me here. Great song
I don't miss the 80's ,because i never left ...
Same.
Ditto.
Let you know when I get my time machine built. Screw 2021
🤣
I feel the same way. Even though it's 2022, I still feel like an 80's person.
Yep😎
So many hooks. So funny the lyrics. All innuendo
This was one of those small bands that only kids who listened to new wave/alternative knew about. Their music was so distinct and so representative of the genre and will forever be part of my music memories. I haven't heard this in well over 20yrs but I knew every note and lyric. Will never forget them, much love to BOL.
ditto! saw them open for Depeche in'87 @ Astroworld in Houston.
@@krackermanbolverk that must've been awesome. I saw DM twice in Long Island and once in Madison Sq Garden. All great shows. Violator is one of best albums ever produced. Time goes by so fkng fast. Enjoy the memories, brother.
@@philc1884 it wasn't all that great seeing them an AstroWorld because as soon as I got up to start dancing and security came and told me to stay seated
@@krackermanbolverk oh jeeze, at a concert? Sounds like Footloose. 😅
I always thought they were from the UK. Everything good to me seemed like it was from England.
Like Kate Bush, etc.
This used to jam at the gay bars in Detroit mi in the mid 80s and I was on the dance floor front and center! 🎉❤❤❤
Times Square lol
We'd carpool to New Orleans and dance all night on Bourbon and St. Ann. So many fun times.
Heard this on Ted Lasso. Damn, I loved this song in 1986 and still do.
In the early 90's I stopped in a deli in Connecticut and saw a photo of the this group near the cash register. I asked the lady if she likes the band also, she said "of course... my son is in the band" I thought that was so cool!
@@CharlieMoney777 If I was going to lie, I would probably choose a much bigger and well known band. I bet if you were to do some digging, you would find out one of the band member's parent's owned a neighborhood deli in Connecticut in the Summer of1989. True story
@@CharlieMoney777 Susan and Ted weren't related, but they did share a last name and they were from Connecticut, unless @justglenn1037 just edited Wikipedia. So, yeah, his story holds up.
@@CharlieMoney777 no shit they were from Philly. Nobody disputed that. Prior to Book of Love, Susan was in a punk band called head cheese. Also a Philly band.
KGSDBNMW ❤
Thanks Companion for the blast from the past!
I love the bells
Quite a lovely tone too
Saw the movie Companion last night and loveeee when the song came out during movie … great movie ❤
Under the radar good song.
Thumbs up if Companion brought you here!
Yup😂
I couldn't remember the name of the song. I looked up the soundtrack and it wasn't listed . Thank God for reddit. Lol
Right 😂
Great song....GREAT movie
I had such a good time with that movie. I hope to see more of Sophie Thatcher.
Thumbs up if Companion is the first time you ever heard this song
This is such an underrated gem. I love this song and so many people have never heard it. This should be at 30 million views!
31 millions
62 million
This is a great song, but a rather unfortunate video.
One billion
80s New Wave rock rules. It just does.
this song and video are timeless. now i will disappear into the comments of time. if you find this, may you know how special you really are.
Oh man! I'll take a 1 way ticket to 1984 anytime!!
Just like the movie “HotTub Time Machine “ , I’m not coming back🤣🤣🤣🤣!!!! Leave me in 1984!!!!!!
GOD HOW I MISS THE ERA OF MUSIC!! 💜💯
Look up the Peter Rauhofer mix... a club staple at the time
I miss the era. The telephone on the wall. The exctasy
I still enjoy Book of Love as much today as I did when I first heard "Boy" and "I Touch Roses" played in a club back in 1985. LEGENDARY!
Darren...in Canoga Park?
What clubs did you go to back then? Heard they were legendary good times back then? Do you still go to clubs now?
@@v4v819 two clubs in Austin used to play Book of Love a lot and they performed there a few times as well. I used to go to Halls and the Boathouse, which were downtown and across the street from one another. My clubbing days are long gone, but I still jam out at home or in the car to this stuff!
Heard it at a goth event at a club in Seattle last time I went. I was like woah
Thanks the the movie Companion for reminding me what a banger this song is!! ❤❤
One of the most underrated groups of the 80s
One of the most underrated bands of the 80s. "I Touch Roses," spoke to me on a completely visceral level.
I absolutely adore this song
Same...was a metal head back then but tunes like this..cant forget them. Kickin beat!
This song got a ton of airplay on my local college station '85-'86 but I had no idea there was a video until a year ago (2023).
Whoever decided to put the church bells in the mix deserves a Grammy!
This band never got the national recognition they deserved....AWESOME sultry fun sound!
LUV the BOOK OF LOVE!!!
Everything is beautiful with book of love
BOOK OF LOVE One of the best groups of the 80’s
Heard this in college in the early 90's. Its 2021, I'm in my 50's and it still sounds great.
Wow brings back great memories too. I’m in my early 60,s. Such a gay bar song! Remember my lesbian friends loving it. Love the chimes! Just listened to it again today. I think I could still work the dance floor with my lipstick lesbian BFF from HS lol
Industry just brought me here!
Weird me too.
same here haha !
Me four!
Me too 😂
This song is so good the bells hit so hard
So glad to hear this song again
The chimes!! Why aren't those used more often. So unique
@Chris Dukes Check out Oldfield's Far Beyond the Clouds from Tubular Bells III (starting at a minute and nineteen in) if you want more great use of them.
(And a use that makes it slightly more obvious that they were invented to sound like church bells but be portable.)
Thank you companion for introducing me to this banger
I Love that "Church Bell" Melody.🔔
Tubular Bells.
Yes to the New York Nu Wave !! This was my favorite song in high school. Love, love Book of Love.
How did I miss this song during the 80s? I think I have a faint memory of hearing it, maybe, one time. THIS IS LIKE A GREAT LOST 80s HIT TO ME.
For just a moment, it's like I was back in the 80s listening to a new song...in the decade with the BEST MUSIC EVER.
The chimes take it to the next level. Great songs stand the test of time!
That sexy red dress takes it down at least one level, oh well it was the 80s, no worse than my mullet
Yeah...the chimes are the "game changer". The repetitive beat also helps!
It does.
@@RMPereira777 Chimes are cool AGREED!
That's what you call a hook!
When your talent was the music , not something else.
I first heard this song back in 1989. A friend of mine had a small 2 seater sport car and behind the seats was a huge speaker. He played this song and it would give you a back massage. The bass was mind blowing❗️That was my introduction to Book of Love❗️❤️❤️ I have ❤️❤️ them ever since❗️❤️🌸💜❤️💜💜🌸🌸
That was me and the car was a vw rabbit with the back seat taken out to accommodate speakers
1986/87 Norman Ok, University of Oklahoma. Freshman year. This song was playing at all the Norman clubs. What a time. If I could just go back for one day to this time...... At least I got to experience it.
Being 16 in 1983 ... it was the best of times!
Those bells!!!! I love it!
Industry brought me here i remember this song from back in the day stamps on the hand at the club
wow i have been looking for this song for a very long time
what an absolute banger of a song, never would have heard this if I didn't see the movie Companion
its a great time to be a teenager in the 80s..i enjoyed all it brought to my teenlife..music..movies and of course girls..
I remember dancing to this song under the dome at The Saint NYC with 400 others on the dance floor in the 80’s. Good memories…. And the light show was out of this world.
Best music era! Last time i saw them was at a small venue in Cleveland around 1990. They were sooooo great live. Unforgettable show and so up close dancing feet from the stage. Take me back!
Thank you companion for this song!
Simply superb! I grew up on this music nothing has ever sounded like this! God Bless the Eighties!
way ahead of their times...grew up on book of love...their talent is mind boggling
I remember their songs being played at all the clubs in the Houston - Clear Lake area back during 1987 to 1992, The clubs were always packed and the dance floor was rocking!! Those were some of the best times of my life!!!
Yep we saw them live at a club in Beaumont of all places. But we mostly would drive to Houston to the gay dance clubs because Boremont was, we'll, boring. You mentioned Pearland so I'm sure you know The Judy's. A friend of mines mother knew David Bean and we got invited to a party at his house one time. I talked to him for awhile throughout the night. He was such a nice guy. Also saw The Judy's on campus at Lamar University in Boremont
West U. I wanna go back…….
That keyboardist backup singer can really dance! She’s got moves and the looks. She is heavenly gorgeous! The lead singer is sooooooo pretty! The whole band is beautiful. I LOVE this song. Please let’s bring back the music sound of the 80s 🙏♥️🙏♥️
That's my sister!
@@droselli1 are you serious???? She’s BEAUTIFUL!! I’m an 80s kid and as a little girl I looked up to them. I still do. How is she doing now? Probably with kids and a beautiful family 🙏
@@droselli1 Really, what would be your name?
I could not wait back then to get ready to go out just to dance to this song. Those where the days.
The way I love this song! So simple, just pure charisma and fun, with that special touch of youthful drama.
Me vi la película de "Compañera Perfecta" y esto me trajo a esta joyita
The soothing sounds of a 80's synth 🍺
80s music rules always
Lauren Roselli dance moves are pure 80’s ❤️
second keyboard in the matador outfit??👍👍
Fer sure!
Has the 80s look going for her still dig it today!
90percent of all 80s music were hits whether they were on the charts or not. 80s music was epic. it was. full of creativity. they actually played.instruments. it was the pinnacle of music
100% agree! This is an epic example. So original sound just like so many 80s bands.
I second that
Agree - never get why ppl gotta diss on the 80's so much. The 70's/80's were a golden age for music, film and TV.
LOL SAID NO BODY EVER !!!
They are just pressing buttons on a keyboard. The drums are preprogrammed.
They made/produced some great dance floor music for the 80's. Thank you BOL!!! I LOVED THEM!!!
Saw them at the Ritz in Manhattan 1986. Great concert and venue. Lauren Roselli blew my friends and I kisses when we shouted "We love you Lauren!" In unison. Nice memory from my youth.
I got goosebumps when they started dancing to "BOY" in companion!!! This song was a personal favorite from my High School Days!!!
Heard this on the radio in St Petersburg FL on senior trip in 1985!
This song came to mind the other day. So thankful we can search out songs we loved. Use to dance to this song at the teen club.
this was on "ted lasso" a few days ago. i fucking love this song but never knew what it was. i found it. thank you.
I recognized it, too. I was watching it and told my wife, the song in the background is by Book of Love, "Boy." She was crazy amazed I heard it and recognized it.
One of my favorites synth songs ever!!! Beautifully executed by these “girls” and “boy” (without those toys!) excellent teen angst lyrics by the group! I miss them ..
God I miss the 80's!!!!!!
Maybeline Salazar you aint the only one, im allways daydreaming back to then
It still is the 80's!
You and me both. It was an awesome decade
@@rell6028 if you're still in the 80s, why are you watching youtube?
I miss us..
One of those obscure 80's bands that never made it across the pond.
Only just discovered them this morning in 2024. .Like their simplified vibe music like this is pretty timeless really!!! 🧐
Yasmin from Industry brought me here. What a beautiful brunette she is. 🖤
It's just the nose
@@brettpilkington9539Lauren Roselli, she's the beautiful brunette 🔥 😮💨
New Wave Forever ❤
80s all the way. Great memories
I just can't stop watching Lauren whispering "Boy" over and over again. And the way she dances... I definitely fell in love with her.
@ENJOY THE SILENCE Exactly. It flows naturally from her.
She's my little sister!
@@droselli1 if that's true, give my regards to her!
Crushing on Lauren😍
Heard for the first time in a movie I just saw, it’s called companion
keep the 80s alive
Thanks. My Girlfriend turned Me on to this band back in 1986. I am very Grateful for this "rare" post. Thanks again.
We NEED this in the crazy times of 20-21 !!
Been in love with Lauren Rosselli the keyboardist since the 80s .
I just thought she was so cute with her curly dark hair , now I’m in my 50s
And reminisce about an age of the best music in my lifetime .
She's great, Isn't she?
You ain't the only one.
This song encompasses everything 80s. Period. Love the dance moves. Reminds me of my ex wife dancing when we were dating. Dance clubs and dollar movies!
LOVE this band...met them after one of their shows in downtown San Jose, CA, in 1992...they are so awesome!!!! 💗💗💗
Cool. In '91 I met Kim Deal and the other Pixies in the lobby of their gig in bustling downtown....Ventura, CA, the night after they played the Universal Amphitheater in LA. She was everything..and more. The rest were cool, I think..maybe, don't recall🤣
My hometown! Mt.Pleasant Class of '87! Where'd they play, The Laundry Works?
aye San Jose 408 🙌🏽
I remember hearing this song on KROQ way back in 86. Never could find it anywhere. Heard it today on satellite radio. Sent me right back to 86 instantly.
Same here. Friend made a cruising tape with this tune on it, long version
Fri night, california coolers, cloves and cruising for 80s babes. Good times!
Absolutely love this album!!
A great club song, the bass runs over you like a wave....
deep nostalgia from the 80's love it
Latest episode of Ted Lasso (Season 3, Episode 6) has this song playing in the background in a bar scene, about halfway through the episode. I haven't heard it since the 80s!
Completely forgot about this song, but now just unearthed it from a cassette mixer tape I made in '85.
(Yes, we did that back in those days.)
Anyway, I thought "it will never be on TH-cam".
Dah!
This song struck me as genius in 1985.
And now 35 years later I still think its genius!
Just a great 80's song.
Thanks Book of Love!
Wow, I didn't know there was a video to this song. This was one of the defining songs for me back in 1985 and the club Medusas
Time for them to make a smashing comeback!
Saw them twice, opening for DM.
My girlfriend, at that time loved the band.
Ran into her resently after 20+ years.
Looked for them on Utube, that same night.
This genre of music, brings me back to a time where only the type of person you were mattered.
Not your race, political beliefs, religious or not, just how you interacted with others.
Miss those days.
Exactly ❤❤❤
Me too. This world is so messed up now days. It was so carefree back then.
I blame the year 2007. The year the damn iphone came out. They(and social media) have ruined everything that used to be normal.
I listened to this song over and over back in high school because my buddy was a DJ. Never got old. Never. Fun times back then.
Well said,le couteau.I miss those days and times also,👍🍻
❤️❤️❤️
I love it all! And I love the dancing at the keyboard ❤. Dan in tampa, still doing it.
The. Best. Club. Song. Ever.
What an odd but cool song. I grew up in the 80s and I don't remember ever hearing it. Was in Houston, TX a couple of weeks ago and heard it on KPHT-HD2. That channel plays a lot of esoteric 80s music...lots of stuff that wasn't 80s pop back in the day.
I heard this song back in 1989 or 1990 and never heard it again til now..it's been bothering me since I was the age of 5 or 6 on who played this song,i just used Google to help me find this song, and now over 30 years I finally found it and I love it and yes..I had the chime instrument from this song in my head ever since. Love the 80's
Seeing them live in Seattle tonight at the Crocodile!
Such sweet memories! I was 15 when this goat was killin it in the clubs and on the radio. I am tingling all over right now (and not cuz i am here recovering from covid 19). See Ted dancing in the video? That's how we used to dance to this. Oh how i wish I could be back there for just one more night...
Brings back great memories of dance clubs in West Hollywood back in the 80's
Love the 80s!
