the MANU button is only for the 2nd gear. It doesn't work with others. 1 - obviously this button is not needed here. If you set this gear, your transmission will never upshift regardless of the transmission mode. 2 - this gear is where you need this button. If you need your transmission not to downshift to 1, you can lock this gear, it will always stay in 2. D - as I tested, you can't lock the 3 or 4 gear, the ECU won't let you do that. It also doesn't keep your car at a lower rpm as many say. Or maybe my ECT is broken.
My 1999 Rav4 has a small red toggle right above the driver's right knee. It is marked with "on-off' marks like "0 ----" for off-on. Doesn't seem to do anything. Ideas ? thx
dear friend i have the same rav4 as yours year 1995.does yours have in the Dashboard Instrument Cluster the gears selector inticador P R N 2 1?also does yours have the O/D intigador in the Dashboard Instrument Cluster?in my cars Dashboard Instrument Cluster there is no gears and no O/D indicadors.
hi! mmm.. is your a manual transmission? i assume it is an automatic transmission if you are asking about the gear selectors in the dashboard. The only reason I can think of for not having those indicators in the dashboard is because it is a manual transmission...
@@theOGRAV4 i have removed the speedo and replaced the o/d bulb.my 1995 model does not have selector intigador in speedo. ther is only on the geear shifter...thanks!!!
or the ect button cuz idk what ect does. when i pressed the ect on it jumped soo fast on a green light. never thought my stock rav4 would go that fast💀
if your car is an automatic transmission, and you know for a fact it has 4WD, the car will turn on the system by itself when it detects it needs it. It is not an AWD system, where all wheel produce traction all the time. In these ones, only when needed.
the ECT button switches the transmission shifting points. Meaning that it will let the engine go to higher RPMs before shifting upwards so that you can build up more momentum and speed. it's sort of like an older version of sport mode.
Hi I know this has nothing to do with this video but I'm just asking. I have a 1998 Rav 4 (I'm in jamaica so it's right hand drive) my speedometer and Odometer stopped working, do you by chance know where I can get a one used or replacement etc?
@meurangaweerasingha4248 wow. I never knew they came in a manual also. This is really weird, given that the MANU button gives you the ability to hold the gear for as long as you want in an automatic, and will hold it until your manually shift gears. The POWR button is the same as ECT button, but again, these are meant for automatic transmissions. Any chance you have a picture??
@@meurangaweerasingha you can send it to theograv4@gmail.com. I'm really curious because a manual transmission by itself already gives you the same features that those two buttons give you in an automatic.
If you manually down and up shift you are over riding the manu switch. Better test is to leave the car in drive with overdrive on then on the stop toggle between no switch pwr and Manu you'll notice that Manu keep the car in a lower rpm and pwr at a high rpm at least for Japanese models
No. The manual differential lock was only available in the manual transmission models. That said, the automatics have the same capability through a viscous coupling, meaning that the car does it for you.
@@theOGRAV4 I'd used this (1st) Gen (admittedly with manual gearbox) to move all my stuff, including furniture and a motorcycle, on a 2000 miles' trip TWICE, and the car still purs like a kitten (some 10 000k down the line. It’s so cool to see all the different things they would do to the same car. My family friend FINALLY let hers go. Most fun driving a car.
Sad to see it go, I'm sure. Thus cars are really fun.

hello what is the paint reference of your beast ? did you paint it yourself ? I like because it's uneven. thanks
This is Raptor Liner, not auto paint. It is the protecting Coat that they put on the beds of trucks to protect them 🤘

You could go tona junkyard. There is also a website called toyotaparts.com, I just don't know if they ship internationally.

I think it might be useful when you're pulling a trailor so you don't abuse the engine and/or gearbox on the lower revs
These cars aren't meant for towing. If you do use them for that, it better be a really light load
