I don't think you need to pull the clutch pack out to replace the kickstart. After removing the cover gently as not to ruin the shaft seal and decompression shaft seal, the kickstart shaft, spring, idler gear, assembly should be ready to remove. It makes it easier to check your work to make sure that the gear engages and returns to idle position.

Cool video Chris. I have a 2013 model that I'd like to add a kickstarter too as well. Not sure why Yamaha stopped adding it to the bike but left the rubber plug in the side of the case, lol.

They left the hole in the case and the gear on the back of the clutch basket as well. I have that Honda XR150L and those two parts would have saved me about $200 on that kickstart install.

    I'm questioning "why "?
If the battery is dead, you can just put it in 2nd gear, push it, and pop the clutch.

Pulling the clutch assembly is not necessary. The only tricky part is getting the funky spring in place. I did it so any moron can do it!😁

This was kind of a learning journey for me. If I get a chance to do it again, I will try doing it without pulling the clutch.

I thought you have to remove the clutch assembly for a new install on the kickstart. There’s a spacer on the shaft where the kick idle gear will go that needs to be removed.

Where did you get this set of parts for the TW?
I’ve been looking for the starter but no luck…
    Thanks for the help.

@mountsrun I ordered the kit from a guy that was recommended on one of the TW200 forums. I think you can order most of the parts off places like Partzilla. Look up the 1995 version of the TW that still has the kickstart and order the assembly off of there. The parts list is in the description.

@@ChrissScooterSupportGroupI'm on mobile so maybe I can't see it, but I don't see the parts list in the description.

@@TheGamersRace You are right, I did put it there originally when I posted the video, but it has been stripped now. Let me dig it up and post in this comment.

I would like a kickstart on my 2023, but why do they have you in a cage?

www.tw-parts.com/ This is the website where I purchased my kick starter kit. You could order the parts off of partzilla and it might be a little cheaper. When I purchased my kit the actual kick start pedals were hard to come by.

It’s actually more expensive on Partzilla by the time you purchase all the individual parts it comes out to $416.80 not including tax, but shipping is free. I think it cost about $376.00 euros at that website you gave.
