That was great - I used to ride cafe' racers with a group of pals in LA who then all got into purchasing beater roadsters, fixing them up, and cruising the canyons - Been hoping to run into one myself when flush but that's not too often :)

yea unfortunately, but deservedly, these were not as cheap as I thought. I found a couple deals on craiglist sub 10 grand for good running examples. I think the higher price point has kept more of them in good shape over the years tho, I see far fewer ratty tr6's on the classifieds then mg's, x1/9's or even miata's, so seems like most people took care of them which is nice. Saw one triumph spitfire that had a TR6 motor and running gear slapped in it, that thing was awesome. A chevy or ford V8 in an old MGB is probably your best bet for cheap speed I would have to imagine.

Thank you to the 2 Mario's, are you for real?

Haha, do you mean the Italian plumber brothers? We are the British/Welsh equivilant, running around with wrenches in our Triumph, actually kind of makes sense as I do work with toilets. Janky do thanky

I love you guys ! Как вы думаете, эта машина доберется до России? Или слишком холодно? Когда вы, ребята, приедете в Сибирь? Удачи с этим TR6!

@@hanoiboy9839 hehe, I think with a few modifications you could make this a Siberia car. Maybe a hardtop, aftermarket heater, and some studded snow tires. Why not?! I would love to do some reviews over there. Believe it or not there is a actually a small but fervant Ford Aerostar community in Russia, which is my favorite model of car, if you can make the connections we'll try to make it work. Janky do Thanky - Ваше здоровье

Xin chào, I am actually living close to the Chinese border in Northern Viet Nam although I am not Vietnamese. Some time I haven't been in Russia. I have never seen a TR6 in Viet Nam. I had a red TR6 in 1972 in San Francisco and till these days I am still hooked to TR6 cars ! 👌👌 Đi tốt nhé các bạn.

@@hanoiboy9839 wow I've actually spent a little time in Vietnam, mostly in DaNang but we did make it up to Hanoi and it was one of my favorite places in the country, just feels different and older than some other spots. Always have a spot in my heart for the people of Vietnam. Still hoping for a summer time drive in another TR6 next year. janky do thanky

We have a '72 TR6 also. Next time, take it out when it's not raining and find a nice curvy road. They love being on roads like that. You will be surprised how they handle. I couldn't see what knobs you had pulled, not sure if you had in defrost mode. We replaced the vent hoses, ours works great.

Janky do Thanky! yea there was one turn early in that drive that was definately tighter than I thought and didnt really have time to slow down and was really impressed with how it hooked right around it, so that gave me a little taste, but I would love to drive it again in better weather, and with the top down. Yes having not familiarized with myself with the climate controls whatsover (which I should have) I would believe it has one, but perversely I think I enjoyed the full experience. Janky do thanky and i will mention the vent hoses to the owner

Not exactly a “cheap” car for the day. In today’s dollar it would run around $50K. They were so much fun to drive, especially with overdrive.

Very interesting, I didn't know this, and should have looked that up during my research. I always just grouped it in with those other small roadster offerings, but this makes a lot more sense. Its interior quality was certainly on par with its cheaper peers of the era, but a more powerful and advanced drive train would have certainly justified the cost. Janky do Thanky for the comment and insight. Hoping I can have another go with it in nicer weather this summer.

I always thought this was one of the most "masculine" looking cars ever made.

haha yes "hairy chested" you might say. I'm hopefully reviewing an MGB soon, interested to compare the two, but I'll tell ya that throaty V6 growl is addicting, this was everything I was hoping for and more. janky do thanky

I'm sorry straight 6 growl, just used to saying V when referring to 6 cylinders
