You just earned a new Subscriber. Your son is adorable, btw... mine is almost 23, hasn't been 'adorable' for many years, LOL (Nor myself! Cherish these years dad to dad.). You're a good teacher, you have to "sell" as a teacher, meet the individual or group where they are. You taught the lesson in a clear, memorable way... stopping to receive feedback (proof of understanding, engaging the 'audience'... your son in this lesson). You didn't move forward until confirming that he understood by him explaining, not nodding his head. I used to be a Middle School Teacher, Trainer (in several restaurant brands), and of course in my own past businesses. This is a GREAT video! Also, teaching him using words that you would use to train an adult, more parents need to learn to do that. "Baby talk" sets a bar of standard low for children in their development & expectations as they develop. You could use the same exact script/transcript in teaching an adult one on one just with a different tone of voice... 'Know Your Audience'. Perfectly executed and a video I NEEDED to view at this time, honestly. We each have forgotten more than we currently "remember". :D
I was waiting for the additional lesson on being adaptive. There were no more wars and your target customers were gone, the very reason you started the business. But instead of giving up, you adapted to the situation and found another market to sell your product. You came up with a unique selling proposition (USP) and a one-sentence copy that made a fortune.
I love M&Ms because they do not melt in my hands! Well, what other candy do you eat that does melt in your hands? Ummm, well, uhhhh, well, it could happen! It was a non issue. A solution without a problem. We love M&Ms because they are fun to eat, just like other candies we like.

Really got me thinking about the slogans for my peak performance coaching. I should probably throw them all out there and see which one gets the clicks.
I think you overvalue the slogan and this is all corporate hype. The fact is, people like M&Ms because they are colorful, tasty, and have nice crunch and a chocolate center. The slogan helps you remember the name, as to do the cartoon characters, but like all great candies, the one thing they have in common is that they just plain appeal to the senses. I doubt hardly anyone cared about whether their favorite candy melts in their hands or not, because it is mostly a non issue.
@@DanHenry I am just saying I feel the problem was a bit of an illusion. For people in the civilian world, chocolate is made to melt at higher temperatures and is wrapped in a nice wrapper to keep your hands clean. I think the slogan was brilliant but perhaps the problem was like the ones you see on "as seen on TV videos", like where you are trying to make a sandwich and it sets the house on fire and so you need this handy sandwich cutter, which will end up in a drawer after a couple of uses. I am saying the marketing slogan is absolutely good, but the reason people eat M&Ms, and keep eating them all their lives, is because they are colorful, have a neat, dual texture of crunchy and soft, dual flavor of candy shell and chocolate, and they are fun to hold, for sure, as you eat a few at a time. (and ironically, sometimes get candy coating dye on your hands.) I liked your video. I love good marketing.
