*FAQ* Source: github.com/Pugmatt/BedrockConnect#faq *How does it work?* In Minecraft Bedrock Edition, players on any version can join the available 'Featured Servers'. By using a DNS server, we can make the domains that are used to join these servers, and make them direct to the BedrockConnect serverlist server, rather than their actual servers. The BedrockConnect serverlist server, is a specially made Minecraft server that serves the purpose of joining Minecraft servers. Yes, you join Minecraft servers, from a Minecraft server. The server can transfer you to the server you want, and you can store servers as well, just like a regular serverlist. *What is a DNS server?* A DNS server is what devices uses to know what domain names go with what IP address. Your device sends the DNS server a domain name and asks what IP is associated with it, and the DNS server sends an IP back for the device to connect to. Commonly used ones include Google or Cloudflare DNS. Anyone can technically create a DNS server, and have it associate whatever IP they want to a domain. In this case, we make the 'Featured Server' domains direct to our own server. *I don't trust your DNS server...* The public BedrockConnect DNS server only redirects the domains of the "Featured Servers" in Minecraft to the BedrockConnect serverlist. (Full list of records under the "Using your own DNS server" section) It's understandable though why some might not want to use a random DNS server. If you fear a MITM attack, you can also verify any domains you fear the DNS server are overriding by pinging them in command line or another tool. If you still don't feel comfortable using the BedrockConnect DNS server, you can also make your own. Look under 'Using your own DNS server' further down this page for more on that. *Some featured server aren't redirecting to the serverlist* If some featured servers are redirecting to the BedrockConnect serverlist, and some aren't, this can be an issue with the DNS cache on the device/game console not updating. Nothing can really be done except wait when on the game console for the cache to clear, as there isn't a manual way to do it on these devices. Another possible issue is that some of the featured servers such the Hive, use DNSSEC, which is used to protect itself from being overidden by DNS servers such as BedrockConnect. This is still being tested, and seems to work on some people's consoles and not on others.

Something to try is do all steps then join hive close if it says downloading packs quit Minecraft rejoin go to hive immediately and it should work if it says downloading packs just close immediately and repeat until it works idk worked for me
This is exactly the video i was looking for! I knew bedrock had *servers* but it didn’t occur to me that non promoted servers outside of the 5 on the server tab were even accessible until recently. This tutorial worked great, and i hope to find a server that performs well with bedrock. I tried one but they were java/bedrock and the frames i was getting was unplayable.
I don't know why this won't work for me. I am Xbox One n tried a few from the link as well and all it does is make me join the server I click on and not bring up that list you show. It..actually worked. I was pretty bummed when I made a server last night just to find out the ONLY TWO people I play with can't join because they're on Xbox. Now I just need to figure out how to take my Realm and transfer the save into the server.

Any server I joined always had the server list again with add server, but since I got the series X Xbox, the option is gone and any servers I choose goes straight to it. I don’t want to lose my world with friends
Off topic but when you buy a realm, how do you separate mods from just people playing? Like I want my mods to be in creative mode and the members be in survival. Including the members not destroying/griefing the builds. Can I make any changes on mobile?
You can run the command "/op [username" to give them operator which gives them commands, or change that via the realm member screen or pause screen. Most of the worked, but whenever I try and join a server, it doesn’t work. I don’t know if I’m just spelling it wrong or something’s wrong with my Xbox.
Hey, could you help me out? I followed steps exactly and it worked for the first day or two and now when I go in to server list and try connecting to the foxcraft server it says unable to connect to world. My WiFi connection is excellent so idk why it won’t work now… any help please?
Also, I tried it on all the different preset servers list not just mineville, I’ve tried re-adding it to my server list and everything. Made sure the dns was on manual with the correct numbers. I used 8 on secondary dns like you did. Can’t figure it out would love some help
Double check that the settings are definitely right and try restarting your Xbox or redoing the settings. Sometimes you need to wait a bit of time for the DNS cache to updated as well. But other than that I'm not sure sorry

Yea none of it is working for me either spent the last hour following step by step everything you do, changing all the different dns waiting as you said and it’s just not working? Anytime I try to join server to see if it’ll pop up with the list it just loads me into the server instead 🤷🏼♀️

i got to the connect server thing and put in the ip and once i tried to connect to said i wasn’t whitelisted at all. after going back i can’t even get back tot the connect to server screen
Trying to play with a friend on Xbox as I am on PC, we entered everything on the xbox and when I double checked the DNS settings it's still what I entered from this video, everything seems ready but I am simply not getting the UI after trying to load into the featured servers. Just loads me straight into the world.

Hi, it worked perfectly for me, but one of my other friends has done everything properly, entered the exact dns, restarted the console, reset Minecraft, every step exactly, and it just won’t work. He’s tried all the dns you have in the description. Anyone know what’s up?

I followed this and when i joined Mine Ville no Ui list showed up. I tried typing the DNC again and restarting Minecraft and my Xbox but it's still not showing up. What else do i try?
okay so this didn’t work. now minecraft doesn’t load at all it’s just a black screen and i tried switching back to normal and it is still black screen on minecraft.
I don't think its outdated, sometimes when they release a new update you do have to wait for it to be updated though. Make sure to restart your Xbox and give it some time to refresh the old DNS cache.
I got the Xbox game pass changed the DNS to all the different options listed restarted the Xbox and did all the things it said to do on the troubleshooting page but it would just load int the featured server without the menu
@@TheAlienDoctor I used another method where I downloaded an app called bedrock together on my iPhone and connected it to my Xbox and it worked I don't even need Xbox game pass you should make a video on it.
If I do this will I still be able to access the normal servers at all like the hive? I play with my friends on those quite often and don’t want to lose it
Double check that you put the right numbers in. Try connecting to a different featured server (as mentioned in the vid, Mineville generally works well for me) and if all that doesn't work check the alternative DNS IP's in the description. I know someone else in my Discord had this issue, so it might be that something Xbox related is down too, although I think its just a generic error message tbh
Question after i type in the first dnd theres a 2nd part but when i fill out the 2nd part theres a third one called "gateway" what id this and what should i do

For me I click on a random sever like the hive and it says “connecting to external server” then says “unable to connect to server” idk what to do
Try restarting your Xbox, or a different featured server, or finally an alternative DNS IP which is linked in the description.
What I did is add the gamertag "McBEFC" as friend and does the same thing without using DNS. Its on the alternate methods page.

Make sure you restart your Xbox, or give it time for the DNS cache to reset. Also the country doesn't matter for which DNS IP you use.

Reset the settings back to automatic and restart the xbox
i got to the connect server thing and put in the ip and once i tried to connect to said i wasn’t whitelisted at all. after going back i can’t even get back tot the connect to server screen

Trying to play with a friend on Xbox as I am on PC, we entered everything on the xbox and when I double checked the DNS settings it's still what I entered from this video, everything seems ready but I am simply not getting the UI after trying to load into the featured servers. Just loads me straight into the world.
If anyone knows how to fix this let me know please.

it worked for me for two days, then i left my friends server then went to rejoin and it says i was unable to connect to the world. do i need to change the dns again?
Normally that error message means its an issue to do with the server itself

My Wi-fi is Ip v4 and Ip v6, to do this metod my Wi-fi needs only ip v4? Because that dont worked.

Hi, it worked perfectly for me, but one of my other friends has done everything properly, entered the exact dns, restarted the console, reset Minecraft, every step exactly, and it just won’t work. He’s tried all the dns you have in the description. Anyone know what’s up?
Other than waiting a few hours (sometimes it needs time to clear the DNS cache) I'm not sure, sorry

I followed this and when i joined Mine Ville no Ui list showed up. I tried typing the DNC again and restarting Minecraft and my Xbox but it's still not showing up. What else do i try?

okay so this didn’t work. now minecraft doesn’t load at all it’s just a black screen and i tried switching back to normal and it is still black screen on minecraft.

I don't think its outdated, sometimes when they release a new update you do have to wait for it to be updated though.
Make sure to restart your Xbox and give it some time to refresh the old DNS cache.
If i use the one you use and then put in a different one wont it reset my stuff in a server?? And if so then how do I get the first one working again
It won't reset anything in the server
It doesn't give me the live chat option I have tried restarting my Xbox, restarting it, and reentering the dns it still isn't working

All the DNS IPs work no matter which country you are in (I'm in the UK and as you can see it works fine for me)
It says your name contains illegal characters??? I changed it and it didnt even work then tried on a different account and still the same problem
At what stage does this happen?
I got the Xbox game pass changed the DNS to all the different options listed restarted the Xbox and did all the things it said to do on the troubleshooting page but it would just load int the featured server without the menu

@@TheAlienDoctor I used another method where I downloaded an app called bedrock together on my iPhone and connected it to my Xbox and it worked I don't even need Xbox game pass you should make a video on it.

Didn't work on xbox 1S . Tried all the DNS addresses, as well as force quit minecraft and restarted xbox.

It just keeeps saying “your network is good, but there are some Xbox service issues”
Double check that you put the right numbers in. Try connecting to a different featured server (as mentioned in the vid, Mineville generally works well for me) and if all that doesn't work check the alternative DNS IP's in the description.
I know someone else in my Discord had this issue, so it might be that something Xbox related is down too, although I think its just a generic error message tbh
