The way I see it, Slade is meant to be a perversion of Batman . A lot of people theorize that in this version of the Titans Batman was the one that accidentally killed Slades son not the titans , so in order to get revenge on Batman he decide to try to force Robin into becoming his apprentices and when that didn't work he tried to groom other kids
I'd say all the villains of the show are shallow with the purpose of deepening the main five, so I'm not at all bothered by Slade never having a true objective other than being a menace. In fact, if you think about it, all main villains represent all the dangers a kid/teen might face during this hard period of time. - Slade is the predator, the evil adult who will explore you into doing their desires, no matter what they need to do to force you (yes, he is a creep); - Brother Blood is the fetishist, the person who will see only the most superficial aspects of you, romanticize it and dare to point at what you should be based only on what they see of you (which isn't much); - Trigon is both the abusive parent and the trauma resultant of growing up in an abusive household; that colossal and frightening figure you just can't go against, making you feel as hopeless as a natural disaster would at their mercy, and that fear following you for a lifetime; - The Brotherhood of Evil are those frustrated old people who wish to "put the kids in their place", constantly taking the youth as uneducated fools and pushing regressive agendas just to feel better about themselves. About Deathstroke's design, I agree about the mechanical suit not fitting him, maybe it would've fit Red X better, considering his newest appearance in the comics. Speaking of the devil, I have the headcannon he's Slade's eldest son, Grant, who couldn't take his militaristic parenting and ran away, which could explain how X is as skilled as Robin and the obsession of Slade wanting a successor by all means necessary.
Great take , personally I saw brother blood more of narcissistic, manipulative abusive school teacher , who can't understand why someone like Cyborg can resist him, thinking that's it's his machine implants and not his willpower .
@@danielasarmiento3101 I'd say he has more in common with Mister Sinister from the X-Men and the Armitage family from Get Out. He thought it was so brilliant that Cyborg had those cibernetic implants, that he wanted them for himself. He sought to show Cy that he was wasting his potential, and that he could make a better use of his "gifts" than the hero, willingly taking the surgery to become more Cyborg-like, thinking that was the only thing that made Cy special
The parallels between Slade and Robin are some of my favourite parts of the series, I love when you're able to see the similarities between heroes and villains, and how the hero could become just like that villain had they gone down a different path.
This sells Slade pretty short actually. Slade is quite capable of caring for others and even if the show never really explores it here he does care about Robin. This is ironically done well in CW'S Arrow and the relationship of Oliver Queen and Malcolm Merlyn. Yes, Slade is there and awesome but they don't have that father son dynamic going.
A really cool detail in "My Adventures with Superman" is that slade in the beginning as the exact same fighting style as Nightwing (future robin) wich keeps the theme of them being so similar
In arkham origins he’s actually pretty cool. From what we know he didn’t touch little girls, he’s trained and smart. Also, I think the reason DS in Teen Titans wanted to challenge the teen titans, is because in most media Robin and his team were fighting Slade and during the mix up his son died and Slade was too deep in his feels to realize it was his fault and blamed robin. In literally most media, he isnt after robin for money, he tests him until eventually he wins. Its a personal vendetta against Robin.
Well, interestingly there is ONE OTHER VERSION of Slade Wilson Deathstroke that isn't a creep BESIDES his 2003 Teen Titans appearance... It's his Teen Titans GO appearance 😁😁😁😁 This is not a joke. I'm sorry to say, but that is the ONE other place where he's not giving out cupcakes.
Also the live action titans show I'm pretty sure he didn't but the titans did pretend to be friends with he's son to find slade so they kinda did it in reverse there
Also wouldn't the dceu one also count since he hade properly less than a minute of screen time and I haven't watched arrow but I doubt he'd be doing kids to get close to a fully grown man

That came maybe around the same time or earlier If you enjoy that, go into the story. It's very fun.

And he wants to cause them as much pain as possible..i think, As I can't answer that one wholeheartedly I know which one I can- 5:53 Slade's obsession, his goal throughout season 1-2, is to find a successor, someone to carry on his legacy or death and sadness, of destruction and chaos. And he saw his children in Robin and in Terra. He saw himself. But like you said he could never truly love them as a father, if he could, he wouldn't be a villain.. Slade practically just doesn't want to be alone, but he's evil, and he'll get that by any means necessary, but that's the difference between him and Robin, and why Robin will ALWAYS come out on top of Slade..as Robin mentioned in the ending of Apprentice - Part II, Slade doesn't have any friends..
Im sorry to say this, but Slade was a creep, even in the show. He always gave me extreme predator vibes, and that honestly just goes on line with his character. The comics just make it more apparent then the shows.
1:00 HIGHLY recommend watching Deathstroke Knights and Dragons🔥🔥🔥. Does a good job at adding layers and depth to Salde's character. He isn't just this SUPERvillian, he's also this scarred lonely family man I believe it was supposed to be a series but then was repurposed last minute into a movie. The artstyle is frankly AMAZING tbvh
As good as that movie is I am curious why you would recommend that. If you wanted something with a similar vibe, sorta wouldn't "Under the Red Hood" be a better call? And there is of course the Son of Batman, Batman vs Robin, Bad Blood and I tbelieve 'Death in the Family' but I haven't seen that one yet.

So I decided to dig more into him, I've red and saw a loooot of comics, movies and series but I never thought I'd be so disappointed in Slade. Like the version of him in the I think Judas contract? With Terra? WTH😭 Altho yes in the comics he can sometimes still be the cool dude like in the show, it's never the same Slade. Well at least its not TTG that just mocks and ruins the original show ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Awesome vid!! Def subscribing! :))
That was an awesome analysis! Very thorough, well researched, and well said throughout. It always felt like you knew exactly what you needed to say and that made the video very enjoyable 💯⭐️
I don't even know if i watched this show enough to have a proper opinion, but i think Slade's motives might be the same ones you see behind school bullies. Those whose only way of coping comes from tormenting one's life until they can't take the bulls**t anymore. It's not because he wants to bomb the city, it's not because he wants to be a walking skill test for a group of five kids. It's because he takes satisfaction in reliving and creating traumas and suffering for those who already had enough of it at such a young age. Basically what all of this means is that he's a complex character that just so happens to be like the old villains in other stories. He likes to be evil, because. Did this all make sense?
He was a creep in this version too, tf? Super gross how people still make sexualized "artwork" of him and Raven. They dropped the problematic plot from the comics with him and Tera, but he's still manipulating her - borderline grooming.
Not to mention, he literally said to Beast Boy something about Slade giving Terra what Garfield couldn't which is basically just a one big innuendo about Slade being an experienced lover. Though, I doubt 2003 Slade had any time to rizz Terra up that fast.
If people dislike Batman vs Superman Dawn of Justice because it fails to adapt to the comics, why is this show liked so much if it barely adapts to the comics too?
The difference between the two is Batman V Superman was a rushed mess that barely understood its two main character , while shoving several important comic plot lines into one movie

It's really a matter of quality. To put it as simply as I can, if you're going to make a change from the original, then if it's one for the better then people won't care that it's different. But if it's worse, then people will wonder why you bothered making that change, point to the original and ask why you couldn't have just done that.
I was si,ply miffed when you said Slade Wilson was a creep. Then you put Terra on screen and then it was all like... Oh... oh, right. I wouldn't write him off because of it. As far as I know with him specifically, that's the only story that took it there and even then a villain will do with villaians do. If you hate him for it then , on that level, the writer has done his hob. Dude had an incredibly good start for a back story, although Adeline Kane got the worst of it overall. Him with Terra can be seen akin to Hank Pym's slap. Carol Danvers pregnancy. etc. It's that one thing that just ruined that character to an unprecedented degree on various levels. I think Carol Danvers got it the worst of all for any character though, mostly thanks to her live action followed by the woke-atude of " modern " agendas in the comics. She was never awful, but yeah, they certainly buried this character completely.
