    This is really great content. I tell my players that front side should feel like you are pulling on a rope to try and accelerate you forward. That visual helps it click in their head. His explanation about the front arm rotation is GOLD!!!

    I would think there is at least some activation of the glove side shoulder/scapulas in the pulling around of the arm. What I would call a connected feeling between the scap and center of your back. I really wish coaches would explain in more detail what's truly going on. Seeing it done is thing but the muscles involved is another.

    Hey John, luv the content. I coach at a public school as well as little league and I have posted several of your videos for them to watch and learn when we have been stuck at home due to Covid or the weather (right now). Got a question for u and Chris, cause like Chris I’ve done everything workout imaginable lol, but I have a 14 year old son and was wondering what y’all think is key for him to progress physically, keep pushing deadlifts or work isometrics?

    • @YouGoPro
      @YouGoPro  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think a combination of both with some Plyometrics in the mix. But you can reach out to Craig too on Instagram or Twitter @craigstem to see what he has to say. Thanks for always sharing! 👊😉

    • @craigstem849
      @craigstem849 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nothing wrong with deadlifting and squatting heavy to get strong. I would just incorporate some isometrics and Plyo metrics in along with it. Don’t be one dimensional. A good IG follow for some great exercises: @dr.joelseedman_ahp

    @8:26 why wouldn't you go straight back with your arm towards 2nd base and come full rotation? Why show a kid that its ok to do that short arm motion without a better explanation?

    • @craigstem849
      @craigstem849 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      “Power T” is what we call that. It creates a ton of valgus stress (elbow problems) and is insanely difficult to time up. It leads to short-term velo increases but is not sustainable

    • @lawrencethomass816
      @lawrencethomass816 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Late arm action is as dangerous as the power T! I have seem to many teens with Elbow injuries do to these mechanical hacks used to increase velocity . Safe velocity is achieve through ground forces and proper timing and sequencing not late arm action!

    • @DrewVerdin
      @DrewVerdin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And I say all the way back towards 2nd base but what I really try to show them is getting their hand and glove separated down low and put point the ball more towards short stop then come up even with the shoulder. Not really like a windmill throw 😄 that would be silly but also not like a short arm. There has to be a happy medium in there. Of course not every person is the same so some will have slightly different releases

  • @lawrencethomass816
    @lawrencethomass816 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love the channel but this is not sound advice for mechanics. Late layback is a cause of arm injuries to many mlb pitchers aka mark prior. Watch Seaver, Ryan , Mariano . All had ball up behind them ready for layback . Late layback “MAY” increase velo but at the cost of elbow health !
