  • @andrewmatthews5477
    @andrewmatthews5477 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    A good place to start, if you're interested, is Incapacitants. Despite the egalitarian nature of noise, there is a lot of base shock-value stuff that is best ignored. Incapacitants is pure fun. Love these videos!

    • @ts_vinyl
      @ts_vinyl  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the recommendation, I just added them to my Spotify!

    • @andrewmatthews5477
      @andrewmatthews5477 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There was a record store that sold just noise stuff in Portland, but last time I was there it was gone. There's a lot of variation when it comes to noise because each project is so personal. If you like sustained harsh sound with little variation, but each second you hear things that may or may not be there, Vomir is the best. The word 'no' in sonic form. The Rita is another modern noise artist, but that work is all about obsession and a lot of his recent work is blasted out contact-mik'd recordings of ballerinas as they are performing. 'The Nylons of Laura Antonelli' is a masterwork.

    The Penguins Memories Of El Monte was on Original Sound first in 1963. Confidential was first on Vita and then Dot in 1956. I have the Original Sound promo and Confidential on Dot. Both great songs!

    Hi Sam - The first time I saw JFA they were known as Jodie Fosters Army & opening for Killing Joke. Jodie had some attorneys make them drop that name. I suppose it was inevitable that a band would name itself something like The Mark Chapman Experience - I find it amusing & certainly memorable but of course many wouldn't. I have a dry sense of humor. You stumped me & have a potential winning entry here. Good Luck 👍

    You should make the video an official contest entry since you have done one, plus Vinyl Ritchie will get credit for it, which means that he will get an additional entry into the contest. He really needs to win because we all know he needs more records. I made an entry for it last week sometime, but it was because I saw Chris from Rekkid Talk's entry, and so he gets the credit for it. I'm glad you decided to show off that Zappa single that I envy you for. Of course, I have none of the records you showed. That original UK printing of Bloodrock is so very cool too. Love the story about the Crypt Digger record!

    • @ts_vinyl

    Do you listen to noise? Lots of great releases exist in micro-editions and with some of the coolest packaging and bizarre formats you can imagine. I love rhythm and melody as much as the next person, but I also love a speaker-melting rager. To me, that's actual punk. No cartoonish costumes, no embarrassing lyrics, no faux anger.

    Be careful with the discogs haves and wants, the wants can be grossly overstated as newbies tend to hit the "want" on the master release page, this then flags EVERY release of the "record" as wanted.

    • @ts_vinyl

    Old friend of mine would use his cutter to make me vinyls of tracks never released on vinyl, or utube uploads, etc. One off's of this type- not all that legal? - are not that uncommon. Quality can be sketchy, his machine was around 1-2$k, so not high end, but knowing only you have one does make them feel more special. I collect the DIY 40's50's make your own record in a cutting booth 45's, also sketchy sound quality, they tend to disintegrate, but fascinating time capsules. Used to see them quite a lot in fleas, etc.

    • @ts_vinyl
      @ts_vinyl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's so cool! That's why I love collecting 45's, it's so much easier to find really unique and obscure stuff on those compared to an LP. And I love how Third Man Records have those "Make Your Own Record" booths in their stores.

    • @miketomlin6040

      @@ts_vinyl Ah yes, I vaguely recall hearing about the Third Man stores going back to this. Good idea of theirs. In the USA a lot of Gospel Lp's you see frequently are very limted editions. Many or even most not on Discogs, although people that own these not the typical user of that resource.

    I have the Bloodrock album with "D.O.A." on it, which is one of the great "death rock" songs (ala "Leader Of The Pack", "Teen Angel", "Tell Laura I Love Her", etc). That's not it, though! Congrats on the score! Is it any good? My memory is "D.O.A." is the only tune I liked off of the album I have (which is I think their second or third album).

    • @ts_vinyl
      @ts_vinyl  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      D.O.A. was on their 2nd album, which from what I've heard tends to be everyone's favorite. But I really love this first album and I've heard from others that have really dived into Bloodrock's discography that their first two albums are the ones to have.

    1: as a collector I am very surprised that you seem to be unaware of the golden rule - NEVER touch the playing surface, only touch the edge and the label
    2: you should not judge a record's rarity by how many people on discogs have a copy. It might me owned by far more people who are NOT on discogs. And not all users of discogs say what they have.
