Your remark about the 2 guitar parts meshing is common. Composer Kanami is a pianist. The rhythm guitar is her left hand, and the lead guitar is her right hand on a piano.
This is a perfect description! In the studio Kanami is of course recording her own and Miku's parts (using Miku's guitars for her parts), carefully writing and expanding the complexity for her apprentice as Miku's skills have soared for live performances. Edit: Kanami as a classical musician is composing for a quartet + vocals. It is perhaps easiest to hear in their instrumentals or "white-room" versions. There is such a purpose being built into each instrument while still leaving so much space
As a guitar duo, they are dynamite. Kanami we all know is the more technically gifted of the two, but Miku's playing really helps bring it all together. She's almost like a guitar rhythm/bass player imo.
Classic GNR sound, proggy verses, early 2000’s pop-punk chorus and bridge. And yet it works so well. And when you ask people about just about any Band-Maid song, you will get a dozen different answers to what it reminds them of and none of these people are wrong; I mean how often does the same song remind different people of ACDC, Muse and Paramore and all are valid? And yet all those different people will agree it’s fantastic. They are a genre unto themselves.
I definitely get lots of GnR in some of their riffs (guitar and bas) and especially some of the drum patterns. Which is great to my ears because I love GnR!!!
Melvin, if you smiled at the end of this song, Band-Maid did their job. Their music (even when heavy) makes you smile. They make the world a joyous place. We Maidiacs (that's what Band-Maid fans call ourselves) are a joyful lot. The world is a better place with Band-Maid in it!!!!!
Happiest band in the world. ❤ Take away the outfits. Take away the vocals. Take away an audience to participate, and you’ll still have a brilliant song. You’ve already noticed this and you’re in for some real surprises and downright joy with some of the material ahead of you. “Puzzle,” official live. What I describe as “cinematic rock.” You like guitars playing different and unexpected parts that seamlessly move together? Yeah. This one. Brave enough for a double episode? Follow this with the live acoustic. Saiki and Kanami on two stools. One guitarist. One heart wrenching vocalist. “Daydreaming,” OMV. Curious about their depth or variety? Nostalgic for alt rock ballads? Here you go. “Moratorium,” LIVE. Like the catchy riffs? Kanami gives them away like candy. After this song, you’ll understand why she is called “The Riff Goddess” Enjoy your journey! 🚀
Many if not most of us have had that moment when we finally clicked a link and realized we had wasted a good portion of our lives not knowing Band-Maid.
Love the reaction. The Maids make me smile all the time too! It just can't be helped. Even a song like "Hate?", where it's one of their few songs that doesn't have a "positive" message, they still make me smile and feel good. AMAZING! BTW...Kanami is normally panned to the right channel and Miku is panned to the left channel. Keep rocking with the Maid as they strive for world domination! PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
First time hearing this band. Not a fan of the sound overall, but, as a (bad) bass player myself, this bassist is killing it. Makes me want to practice!
@@nuclear.musicaddict You never know, always good to expand your horizons. There are a lot of great bass players and Musicians from Japan, it is a really good music scene. From now on and Onset are really good instrumentals from them
Welcome 🙏 Band Maid is known for unusual variety and style bending in their music. Name an artist or style you love and I guarantee they have a song that is in the same arena 👍🏽
I'm a guitarist, and the bass player makes me want to practice!!! 🤣 But in all seriousness, whether you dig them or not, you cannot deny the playing is ace. It's cool and fun to listen to. Thrill, for example, is a solid and kick ass rock song. Most bands would be chuffed to write something like that.
They should have a brand new song coming out on 07/05, maybe 07/06 depending on where in the world you are located. It is called "Protect You" it's the EP for the new anime Grendizer U
This was from a live stream show the band played during the covid pandemic. The band wanted to lift all our spirits and boy did it work! We were able to send live chat messages to the members as they played and chatted during intermissions. It's one of the many reasons I love Band-Maid apart from the awesome music.
Don't worry, it took me a while before I finally checked out Band-Maid and I'm glad I did. Yeah they had the image makes you think, "can they even play? I'm sick of kawaii high-pitched vocals". Well I don't know about you, but that's what I was thinking before clicking on the official live video of Real Existence. Loved the singer's voice straight away. By the time I listened to Moratoriam I was completely sold.

@@melvinthinks If you watch the documentary about Saiki,(Sigh-Key), it should clear up the pronunciation issue. Also, having seen them live four times and heard the band saying her name, I'm pretty confident Sigh-Key is correct. Love the reaction, btw!
Band Maid and The Warning played a show together in Japan almost 2 weeks ago. The Warning went over there a week or so earlier. The result was a new song called "Show Them", a collab between the 2 bands, to be included on the upcoming Band Maid album. The 2 bands played it live at that show, all 8 ladies on stage, 3 guitars, 2 basses, 2 drum kits, and vocals from both Saiki and Dany. Ther is a 30 second or so teaser clip on the Band Maid socials that is ok to react to. DO NOT react to the fan cam footage of the entire song, other reactors that did, got a COPYWRITE STRIKE, as the full song has not been officially released yet. Next from Band Maid? Highly recommend the official live for the song "Hate?"
I've had "Hate" on my list amongst many others, so only a matter of time. Actually, the Dice/Hate Live combo performance was highly recommended, but I want to hear the tracks in isolation. That is absolutely MEGA about the the TW colab. I won't be rushing to review it though, because 100,000 other people will and you just get lost in the TH-cam algorithm trend. I'm not big enough a channel to bump over people, so I think I need to be fashionably late to the party as it currently stands 🎉🎊🎈
@@melvinthinks The Dice/Hate combo sounds great, but the camera work is not good. Lollapalooza was in Chicago, so they were unfamiliar with Band Maid, and didn't know how to film them properly, who to watch and when. Hate? @@melvinthinks Listed to it several times myself. "Six Feet Deep" music video dropped earlier today. And on TW's page, 2 videos just dropped, "S!ck" and "Automatic Sun" live from the Jimmy Kimmel TV show last night. S!ck is the only one they showed on TV.
Nah - I wouldn't say that. Band-Maid are more of a hard rock/classic rock band imo, whereas TW are more modern, straight up, Muse-y/RATM riffs with massive anthemic choruses. Kanami as a lead player is technically much better than Dany so Band-Maid have a lot more solos vs TW too.
MISA, Queen of the Rumbling Bass! I adore her.

It's very oldschool sound elements, with a modern twist. Just brilliant!
