with approx 6 corruption arrows and a few hard-point arrows as a finish off you can down 2 thunderjaws that are right next to each other. 6 purple items!. Run just past the quick save run back and then you have another 2 thunderjaws to corrupt. Happy days!
You don't really need to farm shards. Just play the game, sell things that you have too much of, and see the shards role in. As for mods, hunt the biggest machines. Guaranteed several purple mods and always fun to fight. But again, just play the game and you'll stock up on mods fast. Horizon is so well made that you don't really have to grind for anything, except filling up your healing pouch and a bit of animal hunting for upgrading your inventory.
Its more a collectible thing, to have a lot of purple mods, and your weapons at 100% or so, and also, in ultra hard difficulty some people will have problems with their shards.
Grab the processed metal blocks, you can buy crate for one at one of the merchants in the Meridean, each one either gives you a wood bundle (200 ridge wood) a fast travel pack, or 35-45 shards, after about 30 minutes I got about 14 wood bundles (2800) ridge wood, 30 fast travel packs, and around 2000 metal shards. It is very easy to build up hundreds of these as you get around 10 processed metal blocks each run.
This place only good for farming processed metal blocks. Which you can go to meridian and get a treasure box per block. You can get 40+ shards usually every third box.
This is a good spot early on but it does get boring, now if I want to grind some mods I alternate between stormbirds and thunderjaws because its more fun. You can take these guys out really easily and save resources if you just override the scrapper closest to you let him knock the others down then take them out with a critical so you still get the exp.
Am new to this game, heard others saying that tearing off components is a waste cus then you can't farm them from the enemy? Is that true? Do components you tear off disappear after a battle?
@I DafDafWafShaf I not only can you pick up torn off components, but if you use the harvest arrows from the shadow sharpshot bow to tear off components, then it multiplies the resources by 6. So you can get 24 blaze canisters off of one grazer by shooting the 4 canisters with harvest arrows. Also, my favorite tactic for killing everything is freeze with modded freeze bombs and then using rattler to mow them down. frozen machines take x3 damage. With upgraded weapons, I mow down thunderjaws in 10 seconds. I can do behemoths in 5. Stormbirds just need to be brought to the ground either buy fire or freeze arrows. then you can tie them down, freeze them, and then a fully upgraded rattler (not even ng+) can dispatch them in a matter of seconds. And I love the rattler because the ammo is super cheap. Only shards and ridgewood, which you can buy for dirty cheap from traders. The chillwater for the freeze bombs is easily obtained as many machines drop them. This works for fireclaws too. Tie them down, freeze them, and hit their hard points with the rattler. Just try not to hit their fire sacks or else you'll have to freeze them again. Same with tramplers, just don't hit the belly and a trampler can be easier to kill than a watcher. Or, you could just hit its belly and watch it burn to death.
Honestly, the best place to find one everytime is to go to the Sun Furrows Hunting Ground, and do any of the trials. It'll re-spawn the thunderjaw everytime you restart a trial.
Mesa Sean it's a Thunderjaw site near the middle of the desert area next to a campfire. I've been loading up there to battle it, shoot off its disc launchers and going ham on it until it's dead. Been getting 3 very rare mods and other misc resources then quick saving at the campfire then reloading from last save. can i ask whats the highest% in regards to damage or element boost u have gotten so far?? i managed to get 50%handling and 50%freeze coil plus want to know if that is possible for damage and fire too???
Good video and guide, aside from going high on handling. If you're going to spam fire 100% more dmg per arrow is far more effective as +Handling is an overall subpar shot speed upgrade.
Mesa! I prefer just farming the thunderjaws for purples. Getting better at downing them fast. Still give me headaches but that's because I'm an idiot and play on 'Very Hard' lol
If you have low level and normal weapons then this is a good strategy, but if you have high level, youll prefer to farm some Thunderjaws, finding a goosd strategy on internet if needed.

Can someone also put up a video or show me where the dead Behemoth is I heard you could get some really good mods from that machine but I have no idea where it is I guess it's just lying there dead and it's kind of like a scrapper pile I guess
MY TIP: If anyone is still new to this game (I just finished it for the first time August 2020) There is a really easy and cheap way to kill those scrappers: Shoot one hardpoint arrow (the higher damage arrow on the hunter bow) at each of the glowing yellow weak points and thats pretty much it. Seriously. It's quick, easy and cheap. From the ledge he's on you can shoot them all with no stress. If you unlock the perk to slow down time while you aim and jump you can even take them head on cause you jump, aim, slow mo starts, shoot the weak point and done. I went from being terrified of these guys to not even caring about them. Any time I see one I just jump, aim, fire. Two shots and maybe a few jumps and they're down.
Alternatively, you can dodge their attack and then heavy strike to stun them then critical strike kill. You can do this for all the small machines, scrappers, grazers, watchers, striders, chargers. One heavy stun and one critical and done. It's easier to do when facing a bunch at once.
Mesa Sean its close to the centre next to a camp site on the road to meridian there's a thunderjaw symbol next to a glinthawk site it's the thunderjaw your fighting in your shield weaver armour vid, 8/9k XP, 3/4 hundred shards, chill water, blaze echo shells and 3 very rare mods, quick save at camp site and reload your save, make sure to use the sharp shooter bow with the pink arrows to shoot off the cannons then use the cannons to kill it
No, Thunder jaw is best farm. I play on hard, and can still knock the disc thrower off with a triple hit of tearoblast arrows, pick it up, blast it, repeat, and win in less than 3 minutes. You get three purples a run, and huge amounts of rare resources.

Is this after the update cuz you don't get much money from there but I have I believe gotten extremely good mods like damage forty-something handling 34 and something else with it there's always three those are the ones I like live the best ones but for some reason I haven't been getting them as much as socks I like to put them on other weapons so I can make it more strong cuz I only have luckily I was able to get nice ones for my normal Bo and my Sharpshooter bow also I feel like this video is the best one I've seen so far because everyone is saying the best mods are the DLC mods what if you don't have the DLC and also we're talking about one-of-a-kind mods in the DLC farming them is not one of a kind you know you get a bunch of them well not a bunch but you can try so every other video I looked at was more like DLC get all the DLC mods I pretty much gotten those they're good but I would prefer to get some nice strong ones like the ones I found in that place

Run up on a Stormbird, Thunderjaw or Rockbreaker and farm them for the ABSOLUTE best mods

Just farm thunder jaws. Hard in the beginning but once you get the hang of it, its a blast. Plus lots of xp, shards & mods.

The hunter bow has a good drawback speed as is, but I’m sure he has a good handling mod that’s at the 44-50% range

Mehak .S I have heard it is possible but you might waste alot of time finding them.
