    As an alternative that is more generally available, I recommend the Rainier Knives Fastpak. It's a little bigger and does allow a full 4 finger grip, but it also very light and carry-able.

    • @alexp974
      @alexp974 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the recommendation, havent heard of them. Price is very resonable and elmax is great.

    • @whostolemyuserID
      @whostolemyuserID 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The fastpak is an awesome knife... Imagine the knife in the video but in Elmax with a proper 4 finger grip and you have a fastpak. I've been EDCing one of 2-3 yrs and except for when I need to 'fancy up' it's totally kicked folders from my EDC.

    • @BenoJ3000
      @BenoJ3000 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@whostolemyuserID did you find yours think behind the edge? I was disappointed it wasn't thinner. Not saying its horrible but I wanted something a little better at slicing.

      Great suggestion, they look great.

    • @whostolemyuserID
      @whostolemyuserID 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BenoJ3000 interesting, nope I didn't have that problem with the fastpak, it was super sharp and slicey out of the box. Maybe we have slighlty different expectations but the whole blade is only .75" tall, so there has to be some meat there somewhere or it wouldn't be robust enough to be the light weight backpackers knife was designed to be.

    I really like that 🙂 Personally I would make a small leather sheath with a slim Ulticlip for it. For EDC, if I want a small knife I want it to take as little space as possible. Sure Kydex or boltaron looks cool and all that, but I don't want a hard bulky sheath for a small knife. But that just personal preference. I would still buy the knife even if Kydex was the only option, and make or oder a aftermarket leather sheath. It's a cute little knife

    I am a fixed blade EDC person. There are many small type of fixed blades that are comfy to carry. You just need the right pocket sheaf. My setup all you really see is a clip like a folder. But all and all nice little pocket knife. Cheers !

    The only time I tolerate (or even like) a lanyard is on a smaller fixed blade. eg: The CRKT Folts Minimalist wharncliffe, which is probably my favorite EDC fixed blade.
    Having that extra little rope-y thing at the end makes it fill the hand a little better. It also makes it easier to grab/unsheath.

      That FM steel tho is…barely acceptable.

    • @matthuck378
      @matthuck378 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@allemander True, it does have to be sharpened a lot. I wish CRKT would just re-release all of them with D2, 14c28n, or 154cm. If they went to s30v or better, they'd charge too much, IMO.

    I happen to love fixed blades. I also happen to hate carrying them lol. I’m sure the fact that I have to open carry in my state reduces the convenience/enjoyment as does the absolute horror on people’s faces when I use it. Folders needn’t be open carried nor do they (usually) inspire fear in others. Either way, dig the review dude! I’d love to see a Half Face Blades review on your channel someday. In fact, I have a Crow, Jr. should you want me to send it your way.

    I have a little MKM Mikro I love that appears to be a similar size. I put a small little lanyard on mine to extend the grip slightly. I’m not usually a lanyard fan but it helps with the handle being so small. I know this doesn’t have a lanyard hole but still love the look of this little dude.

    Kidding, I don't carry fixed blades either, but have looked at this one in consideration, which is why I already had his site bookmarked when I went to it today.
    There's so many makes and sizes out there, I'd stay in the niche with this one the way it is, he can always just make another model with another name.
    Maybe some day, I know there's a ton of us in the want for this baby.
    Side note, I haven't seen one in this circle of tuberz, but think it would be a very interesting video showing people how to carry something like this or larger.
    Like everything in this genre, whether I already know it or not, do Love to watch how-to's to see how others do it.
    Just an idea if you're looking for any.
    Thanks for showcasing this.
    Be safe.
