    However, the information you have mentioned at 6:20 regarding the final approach fix is not precise. The final approach fix for this approach is at 6.3 DME IAV at 2700 feet AMSL as indicated on the PROFILE view of this chart. To be more specific, at the Maltese Cross symbol. The second point is that on the PLAN view of the chart, that bold holding race course shape is called a COURSE REVERSAL. because it is bold, it has to be flown as charted. It is used to position the aircraft on the intermediate/final approach segment if the aircraft is commencing the approach from overhead the VOR. So its not for circling.

    6:20 , is it Final Approach Fix ? I thought it’s Glide slope check altitude .
    Referring to Plan view , FAF will be whenever , at 2700’ , the GS is intercepted for ILS ( And MALTESE CROSS will be FAF for LOC only approach)

    6:20 is where you intercept the glide slope, 4.0 DME from IAV. FAF is 6.3 DME from IAV.

    Am I hearing correctly at 7:59 "for the localizer approach we don't need the DME"? DME is absolutely required.

    • @stamtso
      @stamtso 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What he meant is that because the aircraft is RNAV equipped, it is above the DME minima and therefore this is restriction is not needed for his approach.

    Than you very much for these videos, can you please give a general explanation about the left hand bottom of the sheet (Changes), do the modify anything of the chart? , is it important to note them during the briefing?

    The outbound from the VOR vno of 174 degrees- u said it's a heading, but shouldn't that be radial 174 not a heading to distance 9.9 before turning to intercept the localiser ?

      Many systems allow GPS in lieu of DME. So you don't need traditional DME.

  • @MrJetra
    @MrJetra 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Grrrrr. I soon realized the meaning of VNO. But IAV...
    I suppose it means "international Airport of Vilnius". Am I right?
    Well, I'm a glider student, not a CPL student.
    It's nice-to-know for me, not need-to-know.

    • @xcboy22
      @xcboy22 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrJetra IAV just stands for the Localizer DME instead of the VORTAC DME

    • @lcmortensen
      @lcmortensen 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      IAV is the identity code for the ILS/DME and the LOC/DME. At Christchurch International Airport in New Zealand (CH/NZCH), the identity code for runway 02 is ICH (CH= Christchurch) and for runway 20 is IHW (HW= Harewood, the suburb the airport is located in).
