You're a nice writer with a nice sounding voice, a good combo. After watching many videos of and about the Beatles, both official and nonofficial narratives, my conclusion worded simply is the Beatles' story is much larger, more complex and included many more people than the 4 nice, cute, funny, middle class, talented guys in the band, their manager, producer, engineers and faithful roadies, the ones you hear about the most. They had the same producer as their nemesis the Rolling Stones, but they went to the top first and fast, as the greatest, most beloved pop rock band of that era. Interestingly, more guys in the Rolling Stones outlived them into old age. So much for drugs, sex and rock and roll being a sure death knell, we were warned in the 70s. Did the nice guy's band become victims of their own success? It will always be an interesting topic as well as a bit of an enigma.
So much is not included in the official narratives about the Beatles. For example, one of the maybe smaller, but obvious things to those paying attention, would be to try and count the John doubles used during the Yoko years. Is it just me or does anyone else think the John in the thumbnail and the picture at 13:41 are most likely doubles? And, there are many others.
Yoko even said herself that there were many Johns, but the last one was the nicest. Watch one of the age progression videos of John and the last John shown in the age progression, has a pinched nose that comes almost to his chin. He does actually look like a nice guy who is less stressed than the original, but he doesn't look that much like the original. I think John was nice as well, just more complex, complicated and more stressed.
So, just the different people being presented as John Lennon, easy to notice, is one thing that would add difference to the official narrative. If all these doubles were coming and going, where was John, and what was he doing and thinking? Did he finally escape the trap of his marriage, but still performed on albums as a couple? Did he finally escape the constant surveillance by the government, the hassles with the establishment, the constant threats of deportation, and all the rest?
There are tons more questions, and there are people who know many of the answers, but they are quickly aging out, going to the big concert in the sky. So, we will likely never know the full story or have all our questions answered. We will always be left wondering, about these four nice young lads from Liverpool, and also left wondering about the "rest of the story," in the words of Paul Harvey.
