- *Welcome to the Johnny HDZ Invitational - Jiu Jitsu Tournament!*
Get ready for an exhilarating display of skill and strategy in this unique 16-man bracket tournament. Competing in the -80kg weight class, these elite fighters will battle it out under the exciting EBI ruleset, ensuring non-stop action and high stakes throughout the event.
*What Makes This Tournament Unique?*
1. **Unusual Attire**: Unlike typical jiu jitsu competitions, our fighters will wear gi pants and a rash guard, adding a unique twist to the visual and technical aspects of each match.
2. **EBI Ruleset**: Our tournament uses the EBI (Eddie Bravo Invitational) ruleset, focusing on submissions with no points scored. If necessary, matches will go into overtime, where competitors must secure the fastest submission or escape time to win.
3. **$2000 USD Cash Prize**: The champion will walk away with a grand prize of $2000 in cash, on top of any cryptocurrency earnings from the tournament.
4. **Crypto Prizes - Flying Avocado Cat (FAC)**: Sponsored by the cryptocurrency Flying Avocado Cat (FAC), competitors have the chance to win additional prizes in crypto. Each fighter starts with $500 in FAC tokens, which they can steal from their opponents throughout the matches. Special moves and match outcomes offer opportunities to earn extra tokens:
- Victory by submission: $300 FAC
- Overtime submission victory: $200 FAC
- Fastest escape in overtime: $100 FAC
- Takedowns leading to dominant positions: $50 FAC
- Various submissions from different positions: $50-$200 FAC
- Escaping a submission attempt: $50 FAC
**Tournament Structure**:
- **Rounds Duration**:
- First Round: 6 minutes + Overtime
- Quarterfinals: 8 minutes + Overtime
- Semifinals: 10 minutes + Overtime
- Finals: 10 minutes + Overtime
**Special Rules**:
- No slams or flying kani basami (scissors takedown) allowed.
- If both competitors are standing for more than a minute, they will be instructed to "Get Down" and resume in a sitting guard position.
**Overtime Format**:
- Competitors alternate between offense and defense.
- The offensive player chooses between back control or armbar to start.
- Victory is determined by the fastest submission or escape.
