    It’s great to see being difficult to submit and sound patient defense getting some recognition. Tough to get recognized this way.

      100% truth. The defensive approach is the game I play, and my favorite comment is when a young, super athletic guy complains that he can't submit me, as though it was an accident, or he just didn't eat enough breakfast, lol. Attack is awesome, but when you are outgunned, defense is all you have left.

    When I first started JJ, getting out of side control (especially in the gi) using the traditional frames and inserting the leg, never worked for me. I was always fascinated with the way Eduardo Telles rolled but couldn't figure out why. Everyone thought I was crazy. Pritt's Globetrotter videos explained that to me. I baby bridge, running man, Hawkins and turtle all the time and it works like a charm. I do it exactly the way he explains it and it just works. Now, I almost always get out of side control (by turning my back to my partner).and turtling out. I also roll a lot more relaxed cause I don't care if a guy jumps on my back. I just work my way to turtle and get out. If you watch the current no gi matches like B teams rolling footage, turtling has become the new META in JJ. Thank you Pritt for changing my entire conceptual understanding about JJ!

    The technicality between both of you is so awesome. His turtle defense looks top notch, he’s not even worried about the choke when he’s reaching to clear hooks.
    It’s good to know even at black belt you get rolled over from good positions sometimes. That makes me feel better. 😂

    This is great! I train at a globetrotters gym, so a lot of what Priit is showing here is familiar. A lot of people give it shit because it doesn't win ADCC's or Worlds, but it's great to see a high-level BJJ practitioner show off this stuff in action.

    • @JordanTeachesJiujitsu
      @JordanTeachesJiujitsu  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks man! A lot of people don't understand the point of it imo. It's great defence, and not a substitute for offence. It's great to put yourself in these situations/positions in training, but a match you're trying to win, for sure you only use it when you need to.

    Hello, Jordan. Thank you very much for your videos. I am 30. I did Muay Thai for a while and recently moved to MMA as my main direction. Tbh, I was frustrated at the beginning during sparrings since I had a feeling that i have to accelerate my progress in takedown/ground game. Now after, 3 month of training and watching your videos, I roll way better then when I started. I always compare myself now to my yesterday self. If you are better than your yesterday self, you are on a good grind. Thanks

  • @TyHatfield
    @TyHatfield 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What’s funny Jordan is that’s exactly the way I coach and stuff. I’m very defensive to offensive, but the thing is you need to know how to do Jujitsu you need to know all of the techniques because the more ways you do it the more way you can master that movement, and I just think it’s really really good. I have a lot more offensive than he is, though I still do everything that he does. I am believing in that because I want to teach defensive Jujitsu not the offense of Jujitsu.

  • @markusbarth1

    I may be wrong but I strongly believe that defensive styles such as panda require a certain body type. With lighter people it is not such a big thing to get a NorthSouth choke going... That being said there is nothing wrong with playing bored panda if your body type supports it.

    Ultra heavy brown belt here, Priit changed my game because I finally found someone who rolled in a way that fit my personality. Chill, listening, energy when you need to, etc. A lot of my submission game is inspired by catch wrestling scenarios created from my defensive game. Love seeing him on your channel, bring him back for some more!

    • @eschelar
      @eschelar 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Another voice to that, although I'm just a 4 stripe white belt that is super annoying to roll with for the exact same reasons. Hee hee.
      Currently 250lb on the nose and just a hair off a six pack. I just close my eyes, offer them to take my back and chill for 6 minutes as I look for ways to work my way to top position. I usually fail with anyone half decent and spend a lot of my time just chilling in bottom making them tired by being "Priity annoying". Haha
      It's a really good way to deal with much smaller opponents though who maybe be very nervous rolling with a big guy. Just let them start gentle and build confidence that I can be gentle too. Then everyone finishes the round with a smile on their face... And no injuries! :)
