Small critique but we didn't get to see much gameplay of the actual games, we just mainly got shots of you playing but no actual footage of the games 😅
I don't disagree with you, I get so excited at these things. I do have a lot more gameplay footage. I might publish it as shorts for each of the games...
I'm actually impressed with a handful of the arcades you showed off and hope to see it locally in AZ at some point. Godzilla VR sounds like the coolest VR arcade since VR Agent. I want that Skittles machine That MegaShot shooting range looks badass, the recoil sounds SO SATISFYING Sniper Strike, its about time we have a spiritual successor to Silent Scope "The Rumor is, John Wick pinball is next" WAIT WHAT?!?!
Dude, the Godzilla VR game is crazy cool, I'm sure we will get a few of them here in the Valley. I couldn't agree more on all your points, gotta get me an at home skittles machine.. haha. John Wick is what I heard but it's still in "rumor" status.
arcades have always been better than what's at home - at least during their golden times... it's cool to see that same experience being brought back to modern times, even though it's way more complex and challenging to design something that's pick up and play, yet more advanced than what we have at home. awesome video man.
Evolving...well more like adapting to a contemporary market.😉 About what I expected to see, amusement park variations of games and home market retro. Speaking of filtered pixels, it has gotten better but such companies really need to stick to the cutting edge like pixel interpolation filtering and CRT mask simulations rather than generic filtering solutions Ie. no excuses anymore for doing a bad job with LCDs. Those modern arcade cabinets are pretty nice, the more shallow profile fits in better with modern furniture standards, could see that fitting into a living room well. Pinball definitely has an element of future proof insulation in that the experience can't be simulated or approximated well, modernisms can't dull its unique quality Ie. the electro-mechanical experience.😁 I do think VR has an incentive for arcade use with the gear involved being so large and expensive still. Whether modern light guns, advanced force feedback systems, or the large open space requirement VR dovetails well to the old arcade model the most, economically speaking. Those interactive wall screens were pretty neat, don't see that getting into most homes any time soon so the kind of thing you would rent a space for, good mall revival style business.🙂
You didn't bore me at all, it was so awesome to meet you bud! I hope you were able to get everything packed up quickly. The booth was awesome, great work setting everything up and keeping it running for all of us to enjoy during the show!
I like the pixel bash cabinet but it's so expensive. I don't think it's for consumer, I think it's for retro commercial use. I only ever see them at places like Dave n Busters
I think they're for both but I agree that the price is a little high. But in the same token, people pay $10,000 to put pinball machines in their home so... and with 30+ games, it's actually a decent value for what you get IMO. I wish they sold upgrade kits for them though like raw thrills does for some of their games. I guess it would be limited to their licenses but it would still be cool.
Man, I need to get my production on this level. What a great looking video. You did a great job on this one, man! I miss Vegas. I'd love to go back soon.
Great seeing you there Ralph! You gotta get down to IAAPA one of these years ;) If money weren't tight right now, getting a Mega Shot would be at the top of my list.
@@RetroRalph awwww shit we gotta ball son. I grew up in the hood playing football and basketball. I could chuck a football 50 yards on then run with little effort. How tall are ya? I’m 6ft.
On a modern day galaga the no shoot cheat does not work. An original class of 81 it works. One other thing they fixed, at level 256 instead of crashing it restarts at level 1. I spent 3 hours on one quarter doing this.
Looks like you had a great time. I'd have to rinse my brain of 80s games like jungle king donkey kong and gun.smoke before I entered that place. But it looks fun. What u think that jaws pin retails for. Pin prices get outrageous fast! Gotta luv skittles man!!
The Namco booth kinda made me sad. The Pixel Bash cabs would be more appealing without the filter, but what's really sad is that it's just a booth of Dave & Busters Pac-Man games. Tekken 8 just came out, but they stopped caring about new arcade games.
namco have a lot of new arcade games under development and in testing that they just didn't bother to show off here yet - e.g. goldstorm pirates (deadstorm pirates sequel), bike dash delivery (new crazy taxi-esque food delivery pedalling game), and the USA edition of taiko no tatsujin
It’s a filter you can apply that gives the pixels a smoother look. It’s doesn’t look great when applied to an LCD on retro games. So you end up with a smoothing look vs crisp pixels. The effect with artificial scanlines can sometimes look ok if done properly.
Omen of Sorrow but slightly modified for the Exa-Arcadia arcade hardware. I believe it was originally a PS4 game. It's actually a really cool game, I want to get an Exa for home but the price is a little high for home use.
Godzilla is da one I’m mostly excited about trying out. I’m disappointed but not surprised. No announcements on any sports games. Would love a modern NBA JAM , blitz type of game. 😢
WTF dont u show any of the games???? Literally 80% of the camera time is pointing at you or something useless... you LITERALLY say.. "THEY HAVE 2 HUGE 65 inch TV'S" And while youre playing the game the camera is either on you.. or that childs gun u were firing.. this has to be the WORST coverage of any video games ive seen to date on youtube!!!! sorry.. dont mean to sound mean.. just ... i really wanted to see a lot more footage of that JAWS and GODZILLA!!!
It's freaking epic dude, especially if you like the series, it's next level man! I wonder if they will ever port thr VR version for home at some point...
Maybe it was just the one I used at the Galleria Mall in Cambridge, MA, but those Skittles vending machines are the biggest rip off of all time! I paid $5 for it to dribble out about a regular pack's worth of Skittles into a "🌈Collectable Skittles Travel Cup". _(More like a potato-salad container with no lid)_ The menu screen clearly claimed that the $5 option is a pint of candy. 😮💨It barely covered the bottom of a lidless 'travel' pint container for $5. Don't waste your money. If you want Skittles or any candy that badly, just hold out until the day after Halloween and then go clear out a 50-75% off holiday candy sale from any grocery store.
I like all of it, I think the new stuff gets a bad rap because people don't actually try these games. Same thing happens in pinball, a new game comes out and everyone says it sucks but like 80% of them haven't played it... LOL. I'm with you man, a lot of the new stuff is really fun, different but fun!
@@RetroRalph I’m big on the better graphics. Like when we were younger and it went from NES to SNES we loved the graphics then from SNES to N64 we went for the graphics. Then onto the game cube and so on.
You can go, you just need to pay for the ticket, it's a bit pricey but it's worth it IMO. The event is all week with lot's of presentations geared towards arcade owner , operators... but the show floor is open for two of the days to highlight and showcase the latest games. A lot of these are featured at IAAPA earlier in the year in Florida but this is a great show as well...
@RetroRalph sweet thank for the reply. I may try to do this next year instead of trying Comic Con and getting disappointed in not getting those tickets
Love the videos (great editing and presentation) but different in this case is truly terrible. I was expecting very little but these new arcades are so bad. Cheap vr, and truly lacking in innovation - remember when arcades actually meant something? They were truly a taste of the future but right in front of you for a price. Raw thrills - good thing they got into pinball with Pulp bc they really are so out of touch. It’s ok Ralph to be disappointed.
I can appreciate all the technical advancements these companies are bringing to arcades, and it's definitely better than arcades just dying out, but I dunno man it's just not the same. #oldguythoughts
Really?!? I gotta disagree with you on that one, as someone that loves skittles, I think it's really cool. I know at the show adults and kids alike loved it so you might be in the minority with this opinion but I respect it... just don't agree with it. Thanks so much for watching man!

Those light-gun rifles look really advanced! That's the kind of innovation that would make me seek out going to an arcade, you can't get that at home.
The Retro Shooter is pretty damn good for home arcades though, check it out
Yeah man, they're really pushing the tech to offer something different, pretty cool!
always cool to see the latest and greatest at these arcade shows! some of those gun games seemed pretty sick.
A good lineup of new stuff!

Hmmmm....I think you're crossing the streams on your Retro Ralph deep tracks. LOL
Bilinear filter?
It basically smooths out the image. So your old school graphics will probably look a bit fuzzy.
What he said, it basically smooths out the pixels and on LCDs it makes them look a bit blurry instead of sharp.
