Thankyou for the helpfull video I had rang the shop $59 replacement I was just going out to buy another thought I give you tube ago I had to block off the vaccunm hose at the carbee the mower now runs fine now regards Simon Brisbane

I only loaded this video to update a friend of mine on what I was up to - so it's pretty rubbish as a general 'tutorial' but I'm pleased it helped. You make a good point about the need to seal up the vacuum take-off that is normally connected to the decompressor valve diaphragm via the tube. I put a blob of silicone sealant on mine and let it set. Simple, effective and easy to remove if necessary.
Paul McDonnell Glad that it worked for you too. The only reason for the decompressor does seem to be to reduce the pull required to start the Victa. The difference is pretty minimal from what I can tell. The Victa is such an elegantly simple design in all other ways it's a shame they added a decompressor
