It's about time they start using the Gregorian Calendar, first adopted in 1582 to mark Christmas. It took the Greek government until 1923 to adopt the "New" calendar for civil use. Ukraine needs to adopt English as their official language and the Latin alphabet, as it will make them Rich and make them a more valuable member of the Western and Wider World.

But under the Julian calendar, 25 December got later and later after the solstice: it is now about 11 days after its original day. Russia adopted it too, but the Rus Orthodox church did not adopt its dates for their festivals. Another few generations and Rus xmas will be 12 days after its original day.

The Church that gave us the Christmas holiday moved on to the improved calendar. @@alexpanagiotis4706 I'm aware of that. pope Celestine I was who set the date in the 300's for Christmas. Those still on the old Julian calendar are off. The Church that gave us the Christmas holiday moved on to the improved calendar. Most Ukrainians will start celebrating Christmas on December 25th like the rest of the Church and not on the ROC's calendar.
So protest is to change the original Christmas date to a pagan Dec 25th ….. sad day.
Good initiative, nobody would want to follow a congregations where Kirill is the patriarch - if such a place as hell exists, Kirill is heading straight there.

@@Ellecram Get rid of religious nonsense? They already tried that once. Communism tried purging all religion and replacing it with atheism. When Soviet Union collapsed, everybody went back to church. The same thing happened in China. Christians multiplied like crazy after the prohibitions ended.
