The next Total Solar Eclipse in the USA is August 21 2017. I am booking my roon in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. A few miles up the road is the spot of the greatest eclipse!

At 2:25 pm august 21, 2017 for a long-ish solar eclipse. The next is at may 20, 2012 for a SHORT Partial eclipse. But for the TOTAL solar eclipse go to, Lincoln, or Nashville on the 20th, rent a room prior of course. To see the eclipse on august 21, 2017 at 2:25 pm.

Next one even in the continental United States is August 21, 2017. The best place to see it will be the middle of Wyoming. So head to Yellowstone summer of 2017.

I was there too, staying at the Melia. I was 21 and drove down from socal with my friends. It was the greatest natural thing I have ever witnessed. Very erie, dogs barking, temperature droping, it was AWESOME!!!

I agree that the best place is Wyoming, but the place where totality is the longest is going to be near Hopkinsville, KY. But no one should go because I want the place to myself.

I love how people cheer the eclipse on. What's it supposed to do? Thank you for being so supportive?

I saw this eclipse on the Big Island when I was 4 years old. We had a perfect vantage point onto a small hill by the ocean. You could see the shadow of the moon come across the ocean as a massive shadow. It was so amazing I remember people were tearing up when in went into totality.
I just happen to be lucky because it went right over where I live. I'm going to chase one in the future so I can see it again. I was 4 but I remember it perfectly.

Very nice video. I enjoyed seeing darkness set in, the 360 sunset and the nice diamond ring effect. I would have liked to see the corona appear a few seconds after totality. I've never witnessed it in real life, but in every eclipse video, this is the most exciting part : watching the last bit of the sun disappear, a few seconds of nothingness, and then the corona appears out of nowhere. Magical.

From anything I ever experienced in my whole life, a total solar eclipse was the MOST fascinating experience! Believe me, you have to see one, once in your life. Then you'll understand me ... And don't go for a partial one ; only a total eclipse.

Awesome video! I saw that eclipse north of Cabo, but unlike you saw it coming in and out of clouds caused by the cooler temperature of the eclipse. Since then I've seen 3 more, 2 of which were in completely clear skies. For anyone who has never seen a total eclipse but likes to see an interesting and spectacular natural occurence, I highly recommend seeing one. The next one is August 1, 2008 in Russia and China.

@drdale1 In my Astronomy class, we were told that Michigan, and many other states around it, will never get see a solar eclipse in many years. We were shown a chart of 14 total and 13 annular eclipses between 2001-2020. But as I looked back at the chart, there may be an annular eclipse in Illinois. Thanks.

to anyone who has personally witnessed a total eclipse, does it get dark enough to see stars if you are in the path of totality? if so, what is roughly the faintest magnitude you can see?
