@@LexyBradford You should see that entertainment TV show when they were walking with the host in the countryside and Dami starts those bird sounds... The host went on a small speech about how nice it was in the countryside, with the sun shining and all those bird songs.... the girls were all laughing and the host didn't understand why... he was shocked when he realized it was Dami, he was convinced there were actual birds around, like in a Disney movie (no, sorry, I don't remember the name of the show... I'm sure some fine Insomnia will remember thpough).

Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉
Great analysis! Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt and a burning at the stake. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme. I really enjoy the music, it's rock mixed with EDM. Dreamcatcher are always very creative, and they are in their own genre by this point.
With Pink Fantasy existing, you can't really say Dreamcatcher are the only ones who consistently incorporate rock and metal. They were the first ones to do so, though.
@@davidfrischknecht8261 nah, both DC and PF is Dark..but their music direction actually different...if you listen to all Pink Fantasy title tracks since their debut till now, you probably realize that Pink Fantasy title track actually diverse, which mean they didn't consistently incorporate Rock & Metal like DreamCatcher do...as far as I know, only 2 title track of Pink Fantasy that have Rock/ Metal element..which is Fantasy & Poison...even their debut title track 'Iriwa' back in 2018 is not even Rock nor Metal...

the male voice in the background is the voice of their music producer; LEEZ..he's actually sing/ rap along in the background to create that haunting feel; for almost the entire song...

The scream was done by Ollounder, one of their two songwriter/producers, and LEEZ, their other composer, did the background vocals in the chorus along with Siyeon. Ollounder played the guitar tracks and LEEZ played the piano tracks. The rest was midi.

Scream talks about cyber bullying and hate comments.
Boca addresses the consequences of hate comments, keyboard warriors.
Odd Eye talks about living in a lie (social media doesn't reflect real life).

As others have suggested you should continue on with the Dystopia Trilogy and check out Boca, and Odd Eye. All three songs address online hate, persecution, how people lose their selves to that hate, and the eventual realization that social media is just a sweet lie covering up darker truths.
If you enjoyed the scary movie aspect of their music, then you should also check out their Nightmare series which leans into that aesthetic and sound even more. The songs in that series are

Dreamcatcher is literally different from the rest of Kpop kinda type music. They bringing rock-metal element to their music. I hope you can check out their debut song called "Chase me" and one of my favourite track "BEcause"

The bird whistle from the beginning of the song was from Dami the main rapper (one of her many talents lol...). You guys should react to Dreamcatcher more. Their songs are legendary either from title tracks or b-sides. Try You & I, Good night, Chase Me, Wind Blows, Black or White, Red sun, BEcause, Sahara, Tension, Mayday, Break the wall, Boca, Vision, Fairytale, Curse of the spider etc etc. Too many too list!

Fun fact, the rapper of this group can imitate bird sound really well and they put a recording of that at the opening of this MV. That opening is included only in the MV, but not in the song.
Scream is not my favorite track by DC but just because their other tracks are so awesome. By itself, the song was really well-produced.

Responses to Dreamcatcher are challenging. I think it's best - as difficult as it will be - to listen to the song first without any acoustic commentary. Because - too much audio, acoustics, content and visuals. If you've gotten over the first listen, I think you'll get the right reaction the second time you listen.
Although - you both really nailed it (just the constant pauses were a bit annoying).
DC will have some surprises for you (nearly 100 songs - SONGS (without different videos). Enjoy.
