My Dad was a 30 year "Lifer" in The USAF...14 of those years as a Pilot. He started out in jets as a young Stallion and finished up fly The C-130 Hercules in Vietnam during Two one year tours. His last Tour of duty was at The Depot in Columbus, Ohio known as D.C.S.C. which was short for The Defense Construction Supply Center. He was in chare of storage and transportation. Since there was no commissary on base, Mom would go to Lockbourne AFB, which was later named Rickenbacker AFB. Back then there was no Air Show as it was usually held at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton. But FO SHO it was worth the hour drive from Columbus! Great share with this Awesome Video! Sorry i am not paying $55 to get in and another fee or parking so your looking at at least 60 to get.. i have been to many airshows.. this price was outrageous and limited parking and limited tickets due to the parking situation....i did get a kick out of folks maybe this 1st time seeing an air show...Cloud deck did not look good. If you want to see a military aerobatic team you all have to check out the Red Arrows....But given the location of the airfield, less FAA Restrictions to their performance. Im glad to see everyone had a Great time there
$55 bucks to get in even before the concession , or T shirts. That's crazy, and remember we paid for those airplanes ,and pilots who fly em ,and the jet fuel to fill em with our taxes .Awful admittance fee. Won't ever see me there, and I've been to a helluva lot of air shows.
The reason the tickets were on the expensive side is because the air show organizers didn't want too many people and to end up with the disaster that was the Dayton Airshow the last couple of years. So they knew what they were doing, they just didn't want it to be insanely crowded. They sold out, but you weren't elbow to elbow. It was actually pretty great, parking wasn't terrible, lots of buses to catch, you could actually walk around the grounds without having to fight through the crowd, and like I said they were sold out. Pretty massive success.
Like I hadn't seen enough of my taxpayers money to Afghanistan for equality, this is public property, every penny paid for them Jets came from us. But you must know the law on your rights or they will not grant them to you
