So chuffed I found your channel Stu! Such informative videos, delivered in a way anyone can understand and to such a great standard. Keep them coming!!
I’m a renderer/plasterer full time and it’s the 3rd video I’ve watched Stu. Very good work especially as it’s not the main trade of yours but I will say ffs get a proper mixer lad your murdering that poor makita ha ha
Love the videos - just a film-maker's tip - when you transition the sequence from one day to the next (or other jump in time) fade out to black and fade back in - after years of watching TV from an early age, people don't even notice it but subconsciously know what it means.
i was thinking of doing this trade myself but after watching this video it looks like there could be lots of fkups if you are not well versed at this. messy work but done by the right people made look easy. thanks for vid.
The insulation should come right through to the end of the cavity and then closed with insulated cavity closers , to avoid cold spots on the door jam .
Hi great video thanks. I currently need to k rend my brick/block mixed wall and K rend CS told me to use different basecoats to different thickness on the same wall which is crazy! Do you always just use Sikabond SBR+ on surfaces and then HP12 undercoat + mesh+ topcoat? Will do that, if you say so. Thanks heaps!
Stu you are so talented!! you can do builder stuff, make videos and no homo but you are sooooo handsome as well hahaha. keep it up man i love these videos
Ger wkm from Ron Georginas husband..setting block exactly on d.p.c.level always surprised me as in kitchen areas as specially it leaves the chance for leak on washer e.t.c...on my jobs we often cut the frog out of flettins so ...tight bed then d.p.c. then the cut flettins .now bed tight bed for second d.p.c....it gives a bit leeway against water wicking . Particular when walls are only dog and can ..bit contentious this ... interested to see on here what you think ..
if this was a new build or extension it would require ties on every course on the door cheek and windows aswell. for building regulations. looking good
hi stu great video, surprised you didn't talk about k rend scratch time I render an outbuilding about 20 m2 the render I did in afternoon scratched perfect the next day but the walls I did in the morning and left to scratch next day were shocking I resorted to scratching late evening if done in morning you have same prob !?🖒
+Andrew Pinder it's hard to cover everything mate, if you think what's involved working filming time I'm going to miss lots but as long as I do my best.
Top job there Stu, if you get anymore work there you'll be putting on weight, did i miss somut, did you mention the step, mine your ankle comin out love!!
Hi Stu, Another nice job. I'm learning a lot, maybe one day I will get up the nerve to get some bricks, knock up a training mix and have a practice myself. One observation though. Why didn't you move the step over? It looks a little out of place where it is. Regards, Bill.
Hi Stu, Just a comment on laying the first course of brick or block. Most vids I have watched on this start off with a level foundation. What if your foundation is not level. IE on an old wall where there has been subsidence. How would you start to lay the first course to make sure that all following courses are level and to gauge? Regards, Bill.
Thanks for the previous reply stu. Can I ask your general opinion on these plastering courses available. Do you think it’s possible to learn to plaster in 3-4 weeks and then board and skim and house afterwards?
Hello Stu! Enjoying your videos. :) I want to get into the construction trade, but I am bit confused. Is there an important difference in an apprenticeship/training skill wise as Brick layer and BLOCK layer? Some say there is but I can not find anything really about it and feel unsure now to get into brick laying. Any advice would be much appreciated. Best greeting from Cork, Ireland.
@@James-yy4vl Thanks for the reply. I used something called stick like sh** after lots of searching for the right one And it worked a treat with the trims.
hiya stu was just wondering how much you charge for the supply and fitting of a window roughly because my parents still have wooden windows and there looking for a decent price and someone that does a proper job only need a rough estimate cheers pal
Thanks for the excellent and informative video , Im looking to k rend the side of my garage , its solid brick apart from where I've blocked up a window and a doorway . What type of k rend are you using ? I only ask as there seems to be variants and im confused as to which one to get .
peter fido I would call k-rend customer services, they’ll tell you the system u require. Peace of mind- don’t just sand cement render it, it’ll just crack
Hey stu love your vids there awesome!! Can you give me some advice on beads for Krend do you recommend 15mm or 11mm for angle stop and bell beads? Thanks pal
The hardware stores parking is heaps different to Perth, Australian. Everyone has utes. Over there it seems small trucks and vans Quick question. Why use gyprock on the internal walls? How come you didn't sand render then white set it? Just trying to understand the difference in country's
Excellent work fellas but What happened to the front step?.. this question to the customer why didn't you want the new door centered to meet with your front door step??? Handsome Stu and surgeon KC, what happened there mate?
I thought it likely that steps would be taken to rectify that! Lol Good video by the way, I'm working my way through all of your others gradually! I used to be a brick layer years ago and still interested! :)
Hi Stu, cracking job from you both once again. Was wondering about rendering over a painted brick wall. Is it ok to render over most painted walls. If so any precautions to take beforehand?
Thanks so much for this i really appreciate this i'm 16 and hoping to do brick laying at college. Could I ask do you live in Wigan? and how long have you studied brick laying for?
I’m confused 🤷♂️ isn’t this cold bridging? Lovely finish though mate. How thick do you put the last coat on? You naughty boy though wheres your mask when scratching 😂
Mighty stuff love watching this Channel from Ireland 🇮🇪 fellow DIYers 👍 best wishes.

Usual high standard finish Stu. Top man!
+MMG - Moon Man Guitar thanks I appreciate that 👍
The entrance was better before allowing more light into hallway don’t know why they blocked it up each to their own tho
Security
Plus: the old door matched the front window in colour and structure
Nah... That was one pretentious door before.
always use an sds on chisel to remove old render. does it in quarter of the time. Great job.
i did in the video if you caught it :)
@@Stucrompton1 I use my 100 euro kango from lidls which seems to be bullet proof
quality work as normal from you both, great video Stu.

haha Cannot agree more. These guys need to set those sandwiches aside and get one of those dedicated Dewalt Mixers.
Great work as usual Stu.
you boys need more subscribers... love your stuff
cheers andrew pal
I love your work Stu, but the before door looks better than the after door! Of course rendering is PERFECT
That makitas bin put through its paces haha
Still going to this day mate. 👍😁
I would treat yourself and get a small refina mixer,,, perfect for the amount of plastering you do and only £200 and will last for years!
been watching your videos for a while now Stu really enjoy them..... wish you were up here in Scotland I would use you all the time. good work fella 👍
+Jamie Hood thanks jamie buddy
Stu crompton No. 1.
Another cracking video and job Stu. Informative as always and really well edited. I look forward to catching up and binge watching every so often. :D
What a video mate. Good work
+Mjeee 1234 ah thanks mate
Cracking job guys 👍👍
Good work, Stu
I didn't realise you could fit the door the same day. I would have thought the brickwork wouldn't be stable enough to fix the door to.
You can temporarily put a few in then do more the day after 👍
Another fine job. And great clean up done after each day.
Cheers Stu it’s raining in Perth Western Australia keep the videos coming cheers
Cheers Trevor, hope to visit soon 👍
Yet another good render job. I'm impressed. Ps you can get a tidy mixing drill for render for 100 quid or less

Another good piece of work , well done all. KC, is K-Rend good to work with?
i was thinking of doing this trade myself but after watching this video it looks like there could be lots of fkups if you are not well versed at this. messy work but done by the right people made look easy. thanks for vid.
KC loves a bit of floating, doesn't he ...

@@Stucrompton1 great videos Stu! With krend do you just flatten it with towel & when you add mesh in have you got to scratch it for top?
very good job bro
great video again stu 👍👍
+IAN Knight cheers ian nice one mae
Great video
awesome vid stu
+Dope Gaming thanks budy
Good job. You didn’t show what you did with the door reveals, did you just use plastic trim, or render them?
Looks good should have done under the bay window as well
You master your work hard
if this was a new build or extension it would require ties on every course on the door cheek and windows aswell. for building regulations. looking good
What under coat is used for the k rend? Must of the under coat I have seen is dark, I have noticed yours is light? Cheers
Is the scrim/mesh just another way of doing a scratch coat? Great work as usual.

Is there a cost difference or building regs against using rigid foam installation instead?

+billsbasementworkshop it was moved a few days later bill
Parabéns pelo ótimo trabalho. Aqui no Brasil temos outros métodos construtivos.
I was told by Krend rep that the only way to get a guarantee on brickwork was by using hp12 base coat 🤔
Stu! How could you not shift that doorstep over??! 😂
Great video 👍🔨

Hi Stu have you been back to put the step in the right place he he
We left it like that cos we thought it would be funny lol. It was changed few days after 👍

Well, the threshold of what was not brought down, it is not semeterichno doors?
Just wondered what adhesive did u use for the beading .any recommendations please?
Great video
Looks like standard gripfill

What happened to those wires (TV antenna/telephone) that were crossing diagonally on the wall? Did they get plastered over?
hiya stu was just wondering how much you charge for the supply and fitting of a window roughly because my parents still have wooden windows and there looking for a decent price and someone that does a proper job only need a rough estimate cheers pal
Do you not scratch the base coat to give key like you would with a sand/cement render coat?
Très beau travail, mais pourquoi ne pas avoir élargi la marche? Elle n'est plus au centre..
you should of offered to relay the step in line with the new door for all the grub silvia made for you!!!!!
What do you fix the beads on with?
Hi Stu what is the tool called that you do the scratching with? Thanks
Scratch float

+Seb_the_builder everyone has a different way of doing things bro no two countries the same.
Seb_the_builder you not supposed to skim on render on the same day- u dot and dab, u can skim on it within a couple of hours, it’s a lot quicker,
Excellent work fellas but What happened to the front step?.. this question to the customer why didn't you want the new door centered to meet with your front door step??? Handsome Stu and surgeon KC, what happened there mate?
Step was moved a couple of days after we finished Nahla
I thought it likely that steps would be taken to rectify that! Lol Good video by the way, I'm working my way through all of your others gradually! I used to be a brick layer years ago and still interested! :)
Hi, what product is this youvuses to render? And what tool did you scratch with?
nice work but what about the step... why it was in the side path?
It was adjusted 1 week after
Stu fitting the plasterboard you stuck adhesive on board not wall any reason
Did you use cement & sand or you use cement only?what kind of cement used?
Hi Stu, cracking job from you both once again. Was wondering about rendering over a painted brick wall. Is it ok to render over most painted walls. If so any precautions to take beforehand?
Brother you have wet blocks first before strat work????
What about the step out the new door? The way it is, is an ankle breaker,,LOL
Superb job. But I don't know why you don't wear a mask when you are mixing up and scratching K Rend surely the dust ain't healthy!
Why didn't she want her outside step moved??great content Stu
I think I would have done a brick rowlock at the bottom of the stucco that would look nice
Nice but why did you apply the dry wall adhesive to the plasterboard directly rather than the wall?
Because it’s hard to judge where the edges are unless you use tape measure every time which could be hard work
Hi Stu, I was wondering if the waterproofer is permeable and so how it affects the breathability of the wall? cheers : )
Why trim the reveals rather than render and why does the full have overhang on the left only?
nice job tha
Thanks so much for this i really appreciate this i'm 16 and hoping to do brick laying at college. Could I ask do you live in Wigan? and how long have you studied brick laying for?
+FunnyFlames Studios thanks buddy yes I live in wigan
With an accent like that you wouldn’t be allowed to live anywhere else but Wigin 😉
what are those behind the block work? white blocks?
Really nice job stu! What undercoat is used for k rend as I’ve seen online there is like 5 different undercoats, what one do you use/ recommend?
How much did you charge for materials and labor?
watching him bolster and club hammer no gloves made me squirm a bit - but he had ear plugs!!!!!! so ok :)
I’m confused 🤷♂️ isn’t this cold bridging? Lovely finish though mate. How thick do you put the last coat on? You naughty boy though wheres your mask when scratching 😂
Real nice
Propa job 👍
Would of used hp12 base coat, left it a bit to long scraping that back
Lovely job as always you make a good team. That k rend stuff looks good but seem bit labour intensively?
+Zed Man cheers zen yeah time consuming because of during times ambit worth it
