The police should have confined the search to that pocket alone, if they suspected the offensive weapon was in that pocket a full body search should not be warranted. Home office guidelines state " If they are based on information that the person has hidden a stolen item in their pocket, the search should be limited to the pocket, unless there are additional grounds or the person has had an opportunity to move the item."

Given the circumstances, I don't think it all that unreasonable to search you. If you show up at an event like this, it's the risk you take. Too many knife crimes at the moment.
There are parallels between this and a recent case in America where a partially blind man was stopped and arrested for possession of a white collapsible blind cane, that police suspected was a gun. These officers suspected that you may have had a weapon and the matter could have been resolved through a consensual conversation. You were detained and handcuffed for officer safety or really officer cowardice. They are prepared to subject innocent members of the public to pain and stress because they are cowards. Perhaps the most important part of the video was that once you had proved the suspicious object to be a harmless camera tripod they continued searching you. They had reasonable suspicion that the tripod was a weapon but they had no reasonable suspicion that you were carrying and tripod and a weapon. These cops broke the law and need to be dismissed. They gave you a card to present to other officers to prove that you had been searched and were clean, this card was a serious breach of security, if you could improvise a weapon you were now free to access the people supposed to be protected. A very poor show by TVP.

The police should have confined the search to that pocket alone, if they suspected the offensive weapon was in that pocket a full body search should not be warranted.

There are parallels between this and a recent case in America where a partially blind man was stopped and arrested for possession of a white collapsible blind cane, that police suspected was a gun.
These officers suspected that you may have had a weapon and the matter could have been resolved through a consensual conversation. You were detained and handcuffed for officer safety or really officer cowardice. They are prepared to subject innocent members of the public to pain and stress because they are cowards.
Perhaps the most important part of the video was that once you had proved the suspicious object to be a harmless camera tripod they continued searching you. They had reasonable suspicion that the tripod was a weapon but they had no reasonable suspicion that you were carrying and tripod and a weapon. These cops broke the law and need to be dismissed.
They gave you a card to present to other officers to prove that you had been searched and were clean, this card was a serious breach of security, if you could improvise a weapon you were now free to access the people supposed to be protected.

That case in America went tits-up for the police. They were hit with a massive lawsuit, and lost.
