1.Take 5 minutes every day to be quiet and still. Breathe deeply and remind yourself of what you are grateful for. 2.Cut back to one meal a day. Have morning coffee or tea, make your main meal a late lunch, and then enjoy a light evening snack. 3.Clean one thing every day. Do laundry, clean a bathroom, organize a drawer or wash the car. Cleaning something makes it feel new.
You should allow your bed to air for a minimum of 30-40 minutes before making it to allow the moisture from your body which your mattress has absorbed during the night to evaporate. If it’s not too cold, open the windows and let fresh air in.
Finding gratitude is a great way to start a day. Yes and routine. My mum taught me to always make my bed from an early age and I always have. I like your list.
Over the years your video like this remind us of how much we share in kind with your choices, lifestyle and approaches! Kindred spirits! I was Air force flyboy fella but spent a couple of years as a naval officer ! I know that speech too! Amazingly motivational! I spent 2 years eating one meal a day! lost 66 lbs .Now its Fitness, light meal and early supper! Fish 2-3 times per week. No red meat for 6 years or more.Chicken, turkey, veg and fruit daily! No processed sugars at all. A few glasses of wine yearly! BTW Join us on a River Cruise Rhome River France (25 May 2025 - 1st June 2025) Uniworld Costco travel has an amazing deal! Be the reason somebody smiles is my daily motto!
Ooooo :) Number # 3 on the comments :) Hi Tina and Norm:) Your fan Mary from Toronto, ON CANADA ! Snowy day here in the GTA LOL! Great 7 habits to master in 2025 ... Loved it! Anyway :) thank you for your content today! Have a best day ever EVERYONE :) PS!!!! Almost 100,000 subscribers!
Thanks for the support Mary, it means a lot! We are so close to 100k! need about 700 more subscribers thanks for noticing have a great evening Cheers ☕️🙂
Good solid advice guys - most of which we do. Totally a make the bed in the morning person, but I throw open the window and air everything out first - no matter the weather. Nix on the sardines - too many awful English school dinner memories of those and glutinous bowls of semolina. Avocado toast with an egg on top is my fave. Salmon with a sprinkle of dill and slice of lemon in the air fryer beats the cheesy mayo Tina :) Food, family, friends and travel is where it's at!
I agree with most of your suggestions, especially eating wild salmon regularly! The bonus there is you get omega 3 from it. Brushing teeth first thing though? No, wait until after breakfast. Re keeping an open mind, I agree and aim for it...escept when it comes to sardines. :) Another aspect of keeping an open mind is giving people the benefit of the doubt and accepting that it is not just ok but desirable for other people to have views that differ from yours. And that you can still remain connected within that heterodoxy. I will add one different piece of advice: shower or bathe before bed, so you are not taking the sweat and grime of the day to bed with you. Going to bed with your body cleansed keeps your bedding fresher for longer, too.
Hi Norm and Tina: I do these things. I need to do more. Happy 2025. I have different routines now due to medical issues. I fast in between meals... Exercise. Almost 1 million subscribers!! We love you guys! Cheers
Being open to new ideas - the best advice ever. Sometimes the new ideas help you solve a problem - like more limited mobility. But sometimes the new ideas just inject joy into your day. I'd also suggest not waiting passively for new ideas to find you - seek them out and explore them actively. I've found that to be one of the best parts of retirement. On the first few habits for the first 10 minutes of the day, that would be a bit of a struggle for me - have never been a morning person. But I get the point. I always define 2-3 things I will accomplish in a day and feel really good when I do. Cool video, thanks.
Thanks for your video! Great items. Another is to plan your meals for the week or even for the day. Every morning my husband and I discuss our meal plan for the day and often do a weekly meal plan. Makes shopping and cooking easier.
Oh my goodness. I’m so glad I found you and wish I knew you 15 years ago so I could make that retirement decision. But happily retired now for 9 years. And 12 years ago I did what you did. I downsized! Best thing I ever did. Keep saying that! It is so true. It’s like the weight of the world lifted when I got rid of stuff! Sold my house and living in a 60+ apt. Best decision ever!! I’m trying to catch up on your videos but love your channel. ❤❤
Hi Tina and Norm 🤗 I'm loving Tina in that small print top! very chic and also Norm in the pastel shirt!! Looking good 🤩 I agree with all of these habits. The glasses - OMG! How do they manage to get so filthy right? The water first thing is the morning is a game changer :) I'm like Tina - I'm an eating machine but I'm super active so I need it.
I try to eat fish once a week. Salmon fillets done in the air fryer are magical and a game changer. I tried sardines once, but just can't acquire the taste for it. Great video as always.
I have kippered salmon for breakfast most days. Cold smoked salmon is another good breakfast option. I also get finnan haddie and salt cod from a Scottish immigrant who is based in Maine. Ortiz tuna is a great lunch item.
First thing out of bed for me is brush my teeth then go for a walk. I rarely skip the walk, it gets the blood flowing and gets in some movement early. It's hard to make the bed if someone is still sleeping in it (my wife 😄)!
I eat when I’m hungry, sleep when I’m tired no routine same as a kid and I’m 69 however your correct to get organized before you go to bed or when you wake up, it helps set your day up
Fish, 😋 we love all kinds of fish! We are Portuguese, after all! lol How about those Portuguese grilled sardines?! Yum, 😝 you gotta get those omega 3’s in, right?! You look great in pink Norm! My son loves wearing that colour! Hi Tina! 😊 Great tips! Take care and keep safe!
We’re glad you like the pink, thanks for the great advice on sardines, we’ll be sure to add them to the next grocery list! They are one of our favourites for lunches keep warm Sam 🙂☕️
Thank you!!! Great list!! I’m de cluttering daily as one of my New Year’s resolutions! You downsized and de cluttered and you often mention it as a very freeing activity and I appreciate the suggestion. I’m still only about 1/2 way through the process and whew it’s a lot of work but I’m excited about the future results!! 😊😊😊😊😊
You've got some great tips there. On the fasting one, though, physiologically that's going to work differently for Tina as a woman, and a woman "of a certain age", than for Norm. There's some research, for e.g. indicating that exercising in a fasted state doesn't do much good in terms of strength and fitness. (If you're curious, Stacy Sims is a clear, well informed source on this topic. I'm not affiliated with her at all, just someone learning from her knowledge.)
I have listened to your video about selling your house and it has given me food for thought. I am in my 70s and looking to downsize in the near future. At first I was seriously looking into buying a condo but that has maintenance also. So I am looking to rent now instead as long as I find something really interesting as you guys have. Great video by the way. Lucky you Tina getting tea served to you in bed. Keep up thé good wormienne Norm😊❤❤🇨🇦
I love fish. I do like sardines but I struggle with what to do with them. Lol. How do you eat them on toast? I use mayo. Is that good or do you just do them plain? Thanks for all the great suggestions.
Try to make your first attempt at trying sushi at a good quality restaurant, First shot probably shouldn't be drive thru mcsushi or gas station versions. Then hunt around from there.
Drinking large amounts of water first thing doesn’t work for people like me who leave the house for a couple of hours for the morning and afternoon shifts working outside with no washrooms.
I like your new set up and background. Tina, you look lovely in that blouse. Norm, missing your classic rock t shirts, but you look dashing just the same. Thank you for your videos.
You lost me at eating fish. LOL. If only. I know it's supposedly good for you, but not if you are intolerant to it unfortunately. I'm in that 50% of your audience that you just alienated. LOL. Still love you guys. We do a wicked chickpea and sweet potato curry as our meat-free meal.
Making the bed first thing after waking up is the best mini exercise starting the day. Actually it's the 2nd thing, 1st thing is checking my cell phone for the latest Trump made disasters happened during early morning hours (I live in California, 3hrs behind East Coast). I'm limiting my meals to 2 a day: late breakfast/lunch (noon) + late dinner (around 8pm). I'm so busy between noon and 6pm I totally forget about food. Since I'm naturally an owl, 12 hrs fasting comes naturally to me, as it would be weird to eat after 10pm, or before noon 😃
Prayer in the first 10 minutes after waking up. At least say thank you for your blessings.
We like that idea! It's a great way to start the day. ☕️🙂
Exactly!
Amen ❤
Money first s their priority
My morning meditation & prayer time with my coffee is vital.
You should allow your bed to air for a minimum of 30-40 minutes before making it to allow the moisture from your body which your mattress has absorbed during the night to evaporate. If it’s not too cold, open the windows and let fresh air in.
I tried that for a while, and it made me crazy. I would go back into my bedroom thinking it was neatened up, but nooo. 😅
Thanks 🙂☕️
I make my bed every morning, but not until after my coffee & prayer time
All these things seem so trivial but are so important and often overlooked when you retire.
Yes they are have a great day ☕️🙂
Finding gratitude is a great way to start a day. Yes and routine. My mum taught me to always make my bed from an early age and I always have. I like your list.

Nice outfits for both of you!!! Happy new year 2025!
Thank you, and Happy New Year to you as well! 😊🥳
All great points. And good to have some routine. Thanks as always!

We love avocado toast too! Sounds delicious.🙂☕️
Love these tips, prayer early in the morning
Thanks for sharing 🙂☕️
I love #4. My late husband especially, and I, did things for each other often. Giving and doing for others is very good for your soul!
Sounds like you have lovely memories 🇺🇸🌺☕️🇨🇦
Yes. Keeping an open mind is so important! Cheers from Nova Scotia!
Cheers ☕️🙂

We are so happy to hear that you're doing better Paul yes nearly at 100K very exciting thanks for yours and Helen’s support 🙂☕️
I totally agree making your bed is the first thing I do and it is the best thing to crawl into at night. All good ideas.
We totally agree with you too! It makes a big difference 🙂☕️

Very positive video!! Excellent advice Norm and Tina! Have a super great day! 🇨🇦🙏🏼🇨🇦
Thank you! We hope you have a super day too Lynda 😊☕
I do it all….except the fish, I detest the sight, smell and taste! Lifting weights, walking and yoga are also a priority.
I try to eat fish once a week. Salmon fillets done in the air fryer are magical and a game changer. I tried sardines once, but just can't acquire the taste for it. Great video as always.
Sounds great we love salmon too! 🐟🙂
My hubby and I love fishing and especially eating it!! It’s so good for you!🎣
It's definitely one of our favorite things to eat! fish 🎣🙂
Hey guys, loved all your ideas . Having an open mind is important. Have a very Blessed New Year 🎉

I eat when I’m hungry, sleep when I’m tired no routine same as a kid and I’m 69 however your correct to get organized before you go to bed or when you wake up, it helps set your day up
Thank you
I never make my bed. There's always some guy or other in it, asleep, who doubtless would be miffed to be tossed out for the sake of tidiness.
Sportsfishing filled my freezer with salmon last fall and am still eating it several times a week! CHEERS from HERE!
Sounds great! we love Salmon Darryl Cheers 🍻🎣
Fish, 😋 we love all kinds of fish! We are Portuguese, after all! lol

Good advice..Norm sounds like cold coming on…
Thanks Mom and Dad....LOL
Your very welcome 😂😂
Sorry, 1 and 2 not happening until I've had my coffee. ;)
That's okay, we totally get it! ☕️😂
You can easily fast twelve hours every day. Stop eating by 8:00pm and do t start til after 8:00 am. Not unreasonable at all.
I would love to make my bed in the morning, but then I would just unmake it for my nap. lol.
Wash your face, brush your teeth......Norm you forgot to add "comb your hair". 😂. Couldn't resist.
Cheers 😂😂
LOL

Hope you’re doing well. Haven’t seen a video in a while.
Welcome back!
My naturopath recommends fish 2 to 3x per week. Our family loves fish so it is easy to add to the menu.
We’re so glad that it’s easy to make fish a part of your family’s meals! 🐟🙂 ☕️
I liked too air mine first then make it up for when l go to bed 🤣
Sounds great 🙂☕️
Fish and Chips once a week!!
Delicious 😋
Try to make your first attempt at trying sushi at a good quality restaurant, First shot probably shouldn't be drive thru mcsushi or gas station versions. Then hunt around from there.
That's a great point! It's best to have a good experience with sushi , recently our grocery stores and Costco are
doing some great Sushi 🍣 🙂☕️🍻
FILL- A ! 😎😁 vs FILL-it

I eat fish almost everyday❤
That’s awesome Jackie 🙂🍷🎣
Or not shave and grow a sexy beard.😉😉😉
I’ve gotten into the habit of drinking lemon water, not just water, first thing.
Oily fish? YES! And kippers!!!
I can't eat fish but I take omega3 supplements.
Thanks for sharing Celia 🙂☕️🌺

Me too, mainly for eye health. ( But I do eat fish regularly as well.)
