Walked into a random bar in southern Spain with mates in 2006. Place was empty aside for Warnie sitting at the bar. I won't say more except that it was one of the best evenings of my life. What a legend.
I was at the last day at the 2005 Test at the Oval. The crowd might have got on the backs of Warnie and Glen McGrath but they also sang “We wish you had been Poms”. Great cricketers. RIP Shane.
I'm not usually sentimental but I'll miss Warnie. Many hours of my life watching this guy and the team bowling and batting. Something is now missing... RIP mate!
Yeah. I said on another post I'd never forgive him for dying on us. Then I thought, I lied. Now I realise, not even. Like always, there was never anything to forgive Shane Warne for. Even his mistakes were honest! Such a genius of the game. Such a great person. Such a tragedy that we have to live without him, already. I've had my heart broken before, I'll happen again, but if you'd have told me Warnie would break my heart this week when it started I'd laughed my ass off. You may as well say the moon would explode in fireworks or something. Yet again, Warnie did the impossible right before my eyes.
Coming from an Englishman, which has just traveled to Brisbane, Adelaide & Melbourne for this year's Ashes, Shane Warne is, and will always be a legend, he is loved in England, even though he destroyed us with his bowling.
Cannot believe he is not here anymore Shane will always be remembered as one of the best such a shame still felt he had more to give to cricket even in retirement thanks for the memories RIP Shane Warne
Watched the Warne documentary this week. Very, very good. It showed that even though his personal life was falling apart at times, he still played absolutely brilliant on the field. No wonder he’s one of the best players of all time. As an England fan I hated him when he was playing. As he was so good and was the difference in us winning or losing so many times.
You have to have a good soul and be a decent human being to be so candid and own up to your frailties. All cricketing fans around the world will miss you greatly Warnie. Deepest condolences to family and your legions of fellow cricketing mates. RIP my man.
Oh my,life is so fragile Warnie was much more than a legend of the game,he was someone who truly adored the game RIP Warne, there will probably never be someone like you, nobody is gonna turn the ball the way you used to

As a Kiwi I used to "love to hate" Warnie as he had the power to rip a win away in just a few balls.! Being of the usual Aussie cricketer mould, he seemed arrogant and aggressive. Probably was at times. What really makes me love the guy is his contribution and growth as a person after the game. (But no doubt he was the best spinner to play the game, he just played for Australia haha) The guy was an amazing commentator, he clearly lived and breathed the game and his insights were the best of any commentator imo. After the game, you could really see how he grew as a person and this interview hints at that (he said he went through a lot in a short lifetime). I guess he was really just a kid when he started playing and rocketed to fame. Ultimately his honestly and humanity shone through. I read an article where someone had said Warnie would talk to the cleaner just the same as the CEO, I respect that immensely. Geez, I'm gonna miss him on the telly 😭😭😭 Go easy mate.
Possibly the most real interview with Warnie; thoroughly recommend howie’s podcast as he manages to extract reality from so many amazing sports and arts people.
I’ve seen Warnie a few times off the field. Once was at an Elton John gig in Werribee just after he retired from test cricket. Second time he was with his son at a fast food restaurant, presumably on the way back from media duties at the cricket and lastly he came into a business in Brighton, I used to work for to buy some dvds or something. I never approached him because I wouldn’t know what to say, firstly, and because he just seemed like a regular bloke who is actually really humble, despite being the best bowler ever to play the game, and secondly because he was with his kids and trying to enjoy himself. He had people coming up to him during the Elton gig asking for autographs or photos and also at the fast food restaurant; I was ordering a hamburger and the guy behind the counter was completely ignoring me, staring at him (he was a young Indian lad, studying in Melbourne). I asked him if he had heard my order and he apologised to me and explained witnessing Shane in person was the best moment of his life because he is huge in India, on par with Tendulkar. When I saw him with his kids I got the same impression I got from his social media and interviews like this: he’s a great dad and humble bloke. And one hell of a cricketer.
Absolute bona fide legend. And I think a way better and more intelligent human than he has ever gotten credit for. Competitive to a fault for sure, but at the same time incredibly humble, open and honest. Speaking as a Kiwi, we absolutely loved Warney.
Thank God we have TH-cam as Warney will never ever die. I was lucky enough to meet Shane one on one, afterwards I couldn't believe I had talked with him for so long. The guy is and will always be a Legend. Rest in peace Warney 😢
Was never a big fan until I met him. One of the nicest celebrities you could hope to meet and so sad that he is gone at such a young age, R.I.P. Shane. Condolences to your family, you’ll never be forgotten.
A legend who left a great mark in Cricket. I'd like to share one thing, in here you can see at one point Warnie is a bit disappointed with the negative responses he received from some fans and media. it's natural to everyone and obviously anyone will not be happy . However by developing a perspective of "Momento Mori"- Stoic, know that you are gonna die, "Marana nussati"-Buddhism - Be death conscious; will be a great mental tool where you can easily ditch the trivial negative responses when it trouble you. It also redirect your focus on your core - in his case being a spinner with magical skills bring inspiration and entertainment to millions! Now to you who are reading this, apply that to your life too :)
Great discussion & such a down to earth guy. God bless his dear soul & my condolences to his dear children & family through this difficult time in their life 🙏
I'm English and Warnie was the Aussie Botham in personality and enthusiasm for everything in life. We will miss out on many years of top class punditry.
Botham is Sun in Sagittarius and Warnie Sun in the 9th house (the Sagittarian house), so there is an overlap there including the optimism to look for a win in any situation.
My heart is so heavy day after day. The world lost such a beautiful and loved gentle man the day you died Shane Warne. Rest in Eternal Peace you legend. 🙏 So much love to your family. ❤❤❤
He was the greatest because he never sat on the fence and happy to be comfortable. He always took risks, which made him the greatest. Will be missed for a long long time.
The best thing about Warnie is that there was never any pretense or fakeness with him - what you saw was what you got, and even in this interview you can see how he has no fear whatsoever of seeming vulnerable. RIP Warnie, the most genuine of characters, makes me proud to be a Melburnian.
Rest in Peace Shane Warne. Best cricketer of all time, a showman, entertainer and someone who clearly cared so much for his family and friends. Thank you for your crucial role in bringing me to my fervent love of cricket which will last a life time. You will never be forgotten
The world has lost a very very special human being. One of a kind and an Australian icon. Can’t believe I am writing this now! Shane you were taken from us much too soon. RIP legend
I am starting to like Warne because I have done some things I wish I didn't but I am truly envy envious of his guts and honesty to face it and live as he is.

It’s good that he got that documentary done as we would never had known those private family moments that gave a more rounded view of the man…he wasn’t just a great player and a hell raiser but a family man trying to keep it all together…and for the most part he did a great job all round
Warnie is an ambassador of the great game. Having lived in the uk for 20yrs as an Aussie he’s very respected. Even in the greatest Ashes series in modern day cricket in 2005, he was respected by the English fans and continues to be. It’s a shame he never skippered 🇦🇺 or made a ton in test cricket 🤦🏼♂️ aside from the 708 wickets 👍👍👍 he set a standard, learnt the hard way and remains honest and loves the game but continues to want the best for the future. Having had a beer with him in London after the 2005 defeat back in the day he wore his heart on his sleeve then and continues to.
The guy never pretended to be anything he wasn't and was always brutally honest about his own failings. How many of the people hating on Shane could say the same? If you were watching cricket back in the 80's and early 90's, you will know that he changed the game completely. Every team was fast bowler dominated in that era and then along came Warnie in the early 90's. He is probably the greatest bowler of all time - certainly the greatest spinner. He bowled the hardest variety in the game and whilst spinning it prodigiously, he rarely bowled a bad ball. Every average spinner or batsman/part timer will bowl 'offies in the nets....no-one bowls leggies. There is a reason for that.... Shane was extremely tough on the field, but look at how many of his opponents have come out saying that he was always the first one to congratulate them on an innings well-played, or come and have a beer with them after the match. He was an old-school cricketer and just an all-round good bloke. He was incredibly famous for 30 years and had his life under a microscope. How many others would come out of that smelling like roses?? He was fallible, as we all are. But if you saw him play, as I was lucky to do many times....well that was something to remember and feel lucky for...
Though I understand how Warnies behaviour off the field push a lot of people away from him, one thing he's been good at is keeping connections with critical people, staying relevant, up to date and adaptable to commentating cricket. Is he the most liked commentator? No. But is one of the most qualified to critique and comment on the play? Definitely.
Hate the guys commentary but am in awe of the guys dedication to the game and his outstanding honesty. The guy is one of the best thing in cricket. Hes willing and eager to teach the next generations whether its how to bowl ot how to be open and honest off the field. The guy made some mistakes, but as we see here, hes a great guy. Massive respect
i nearly buckled over on my walk when the wife said do you no someone called shane warne well hes died still in a bit of a daze at the moment a true legend my heart is broken rip shane
I really like Warne as a player more as a person. He is having tremendous knowledge of the game and his inputs always improve the game. He is truly an inspiring personality for everyone.
Good Bye King! I will miss you and remember you till the day I die. You were a true Champion and one of the GREATEST! Thank you for the wonderful cricket memories. I grew up in the 90’s and watched legends play in their PRIME. You were part of a special group. RIP brother. God bless your children.. your family.
I'll always remember that dreaded sinking feeling any time England would occasionally drag themselves into a semi-reasonable position in an ashes test and the ball was tossed to Warnie. What an unbelievable player and character, a true one off. And like the crowd sang at the Oval in 2005... "We only wished you were English"
That feeling is probably similar to how Aussie cricket fans felt whenever Australia got three West Indies wickets for cheap and then in walked Viv Richards (always pausing 30 seconds for the tv ad break so you were forced to watch him walk all the way to the crease.)
S.K. Warne, what an absolute legend. Thanks mate. Mark Howard, what a wonderful presenter. Mate, you should commentate at the IPL too. Thanks for this clip @foxcricket
Still in shock. Rip Warnie . You left your mark mate. Your legacy is sealed in history . One of the greatest players of all time . A superb coach /man manager and a brilliant commentator. Just can't believe it . Rip
Bloody love you Warnie for your honesty and transparency. For your competitive never say die attitude. For your on and off field entertainment. For your love for your family. You could have been selected to play for Australia as a tactician alone and bowling something to do just for fun. If you keep at it Warnie, you'll be pencilled in alongside McGilvray, Arlott, Chapelli, Tony, Bull, Richie and Birmingham as the best of all cricket commentators. For my money, the most gifted all round cricketer, competitor and tactician the game has known. Ball in hand, there will never be a cricketer so compulsive and intoxicating to watch. 👍👍👍
Well said. I shouldn't like him being English...can't help but love the guy though. Not just for his skill but the whole package with his personality. He's compelling in the comms box too as you say.
@@mcfch9625 Yeah! Cheers specially from a Pommie. Seriously, I would have said it anyway even if he came from the moon or England. The cricketing world was blessed when he arrived and immensely saddened when he left the paddock. He is such a laugh and generous spirit though, we'll never get rid of him.
In 2005 shane warne was literally a one man army....it was England against warne...warne's performance in that series was absolutely breathtaking...the best I've ever seen a bowler bowl...not just a spin bowler but any bowler
Warne is so unique and a one-off a leg-spinner as good as he was will never be seen again. To watch him bowl was like watching poetry in motion he was so fascinating and spun a web that the batsman had no answer to. Enjoy your retirement m8 as a Pom I hated you at the time when you bowled because you were the biggest threat but looking back you were truly sensational and a proven match winner. 👌
This is a very good documentary. It shows the real Warne. I haven't been able to come to terms that he has passed away. I miss following him on social media. I won't be watching cricket this season. I can't imagine not having Warnie commentating 😪

The Michael Jordan of Cricket. RIP Warnie #23
That's why I like Warne n his voice. He is different n unique. As long as Cricket exists his name will shine.
Warney you were a legend! Will be missed
Awesome honest interview by the GOAT!🏴
I admire you so much shane
Rip you great man. Very sad day. Way too young to leave us. I am devastated 😭
Loved watching him play in 90s, cricket was best time watch
So much respect for the king of spin. Can thank you for an amazing childhood sir
R u sad
Your awesome Warnie. A legend. I enjoyed watching you play back in the day and enjoy your commentary now.
He is gone man
@@muhammadhusnain9183 have a look at the date
@@colinevans3285 I know you did the comment when Warnie was alive, i just did this comment in sorrow mate
@@muhammadhusnain9183 he will be missed 😢
Very true would be great if hired by BCCI as well
No he would talk about fishing rather than kohlis century lol
Shane Warne is a gem in what we saw how he handles the junior players in IPL. He comes out as a genuine human being! 🧡
Still in shock. Rip Warnie . You left your mark mate. Your legacy is sealed in history . One of the greatest players of all time . A superb coach /man manager and a brilliant commentator. Just can't believe it . Rip
I loved the way he spoke 💔
You’re absolutely right. Unbelievable performance.
What a man
RIP Sir Shane Warne
He will be missed dearly.
