Pabanka Monastery - One of the Sky Burial Sites Near Lhasa

Pabanka Monastery is where King Songtsen Gampo did meditation in the 7th century and currently it's the place to do the sky burial after people die. Sky burial means cutting the body into pieces and feeding the vultures, but the scenario is forbidden to take photos. On Thursday and Friday, it takes place at this monastery. Today it's Monday, it's an empty date so we can make this video for you. In this video, you can see the people giving food to those spiritual. In Tibetan Buddhism, we call it soul. Because once people die, they leave their bodies and the spirituals keep going for reincarnation. Between death and reincarnation, the spirituals stay around us so Tibetans believe once they burn the Zampa food for those spirituals, they can go to the reincarnation and will not be reborn to the hungry ghosts. Taking this chance, you can also see the panoramic view of Lhasa city, as well as the beautiful scenery of Pabanka Monastery.
