agree -------- i am 97 years old & still listening john mayall & neil young & willie nelson ......... too old to rock and roll too young to die ......... hahaha
I didn't see him, but I'm that old, too, and still rockin'! I'm 82 today. For Jimi, I don't think it was his voice or his guitar playing only, but the fact that he could hear that inner sound, and try to bring it forward so we could all hear it. A very unusual man. His imitators can capture the voice and guitar, but don't seem to have the inner voice.
Jimi Hendrix was not from around this part of the galaxy. You could tell just by the way he talked and carried himself. Such an aura of peace and wisdom encompased his presence that everyone could tell that he we something special, even before he picked up his guitar. When he did he changed the world, he left the best of the best flabbergasted. Every guitarist of the time wanted a piece of his inspiration. He could paint pictures of a place, for those that have eyes to see it, so detailed and strange that no painting could do it justice. Not everyone gets hendrix but for those of us that do, there has never been nor ever will be a person so able to convey his vision the psychedelic experience.
Travis Bessonette I mean he is an amazing person but he was just like you and me and he had issues and did heroin he is a great person and inspired many but please don’t make him sound like that
Not many people can take a classic and turn it into something new while remaining faithful to the classic but Jimi Hendrix did just that not just on this but countless blues and classics everytime I hear Jimi I'll always think of my Father he was a huge fan of Jimi's Rest In Peace Dad love you forever
I listen to this every morning, and every time jimi says ''everything is gonna be alright this morning'', just makes the start of the day that much better

Amazing how this was recorded nearly 50 yeas ago and it sounds more relevant that music recorded today! People are still crying themselves to sleep trying to get close to Jimi’s sound! Pure genius!
His music was Basic Blues, but with his own, astonishing twist on guitar. Most popular music today sucks, because it is controlled by corporate groups, who know their audience--vapid young teens, etc. So Jimi's music is not in fashion, and is not relevant to whatever is going down in our idiotic culture now.
Was a kid of 14 when I saw him live in England, so glad I did. For me, no guitar player will ever get close. He's rocking up there, now I'm sure , fly high Jimi mitch and noel x
We must teach and reach the younger generation to never ever forget this beautiful man given to us. I absolutely love hearing kids rave about this wild guitarist ..and say this is FUCKING INCREDIBLE..
It’s literally some of the best music I’ve heard, I can’t explain the feeling I have listening to this new album! It’s a wonderful proud feeling, he is STILL outplaying all of us, absofucknlutely incredible Jimi.
Jimi could cover any song at all,put his inimitable interpretation on it and call it his own, nobody could touch him.I was blessed enough to have met Willie Dixon the year before he died and asked him what he thought of Jimi's covers of his songs and he told me he really really liked them. When I asked him if he ever met Jimi he simply said "Man,he was one strange cat...but he was cool!!!"
Its puzzle piece all fits snugly into the Hendrix lexicon though, where I would suppose that, this little ditties main groove eventually re-devoloped into A Room Full of Mirrors? Then we heard some Band of Gypsy Buddy Miles like "WOoo WHoo's" vocalizations emanating out of Hendrix on this track...LoL...8)
this is one of he best covers of a song, jimi manages to keep most of it the same, while still improving upon it and making it his own. muddy waters was done justice
Listening to “Band of Gypsies”-era Jimi recordings has always been such a double-edged sword, bittersweet experience. Instantly-even simultaneously-inspirational and heartbreaking; breathtaking and tragic. He was barely into the evolutionary phase that would unbind his creativity from the limitations of commercial categorization, arbitrary genre boundaries, as well as sociocultural and racial separation, expectations, determinations, etc. Phenomenal as BoG-era Jimi’s (relatively) meager amount of rehearsed, studio and (largely) improvised live recordings are, they were merely “rough drafts” and “warm-ups”; a brief glance of his burgeoning new vision on which he was only starting to fully focus. There was a time I spent the better part of a year endlessly, and obsessively listening to every recording and reading every interview I could find of BoG-era Jimi. It was such an engrossing, phenomenal, otherworldly, enthralling, bewitching, and enchanting experience. One that had such a substantial transporting effect on my mind that I genuinely started thinking, theorizing, and daydreaming about; worse yet, I sincerely began HOPING and WAITING for the next, NEW BoG Jimi album and performances. Jimi’s potential had only just begun to journey into an unfathomable future expanse of promised potentialities and impossible possibilities. My heart melted with an uncanny sort of excitement thinking about what sort of incredible new worlds of sound, sight, feeling, and experience Jimi would find on his new journey. Reaching the zenith of anticipation for what Jimi would share with us from the journey into his singular future…and then I remembered
When I feel gutted about not winning the national lottery...or being single...or anything that's dragging me down....this creation of God....lifts me to comfort and joy@!!!
The thing you have to love about Hendrix is he always makes any song he plays his own. This doesn't sound anything like the original version, which I think is a good thing, because we don't need another exact copy of a Blues song.
Yes! That was cool, never heard it before.... I like that era and the way his groove worked with Billy Cox was something else. This was around the time he was recording the tracks for "Cry Of Love" or what was later released as "First Rays of The New Rising Sun", and of course the Band of Gypsys live record at the Fillmore East. It's always nice to hear things like this -- especially with a decent recording it sounds so... contemporary. Like he's still here, and still making music. Jimi's one of those guys that you can always hear something in his music you didn't notice before, like someone already posted, it's a little bit supernatural. :)
When I was a kid and wanted to learn how to play guitar, I asked someone "What kind of guitar does Jimi Hendrix use?". When told he plays a Fender Stratocaster I knew what I was going to play. I'm now almost 65 and still play Stratocasters, I own two, A 1970 CBS strat and a 1995 Custom Shop strat. '70 rosewood fretboard, Custom Shop one is maple fretboard, all because of Jimi.
Johnny Kos they’ll slowly release it to extend their power to make money of someone who probably wouldn’t want his name used in a way to leach fans for dosh

‘if I don't meet you no more in this world, I'll meet you in the next one
