My favorite CURE 'song ! Such a mastepiece. One on my favorite version of A Forest too. Magistral. Ambiance, performance, atmosphère. Robert Smith and Simon Gallup are genius. Greatest more than ever. Love The Cure. Friendly from France 🖤💋🖤💋🎼🎶🎸
saw them here in new zealand about 1980. It was about $8 a ticket. They played A Forest and the audience was blinded by blue light, could barely see a dam thing, Brilliant
I agree. This song is very sensual. Robert is a pure poet. His voice is so sublime and mersmerizing! I love this version the best! The lryics! The instrumentals! Damn! It's awesome! My 26 yr. old GF didn't even know who the cure was until I starting playing earlier videos like this (and from the 80's). Now, she is in love w/RS. LOL. I am only 33 yrs. old, and cultured in all classic's and international music. I'm spanish. But The Cure is the best contemporary music ever!
and again and again and again - its fantastic... saw them live in Munich 1992 - will never forget that version of A Forest - unbelievable but it was still better than this here... and this is already fantastic...
This my favorite verison of this song. The lyrics he adds at the end are haunting but fit the song so beautifully. Boris was and always will be the offical Cure drummer. He is the forgotten key to the band as since he left the band hasnt really hit the mark they did with him. Nothing agaisnt Jason but he just isnt the imaginative.. Dear Robert, Please come back with another album (that isnt mixed like u did it in ur garage) thanks, all of us Cure-fans
To me this song could go on and on...through a whole night without getting any second broing by listen to it. It´s just Perfect !!! Thank You for put in here !!!
great, impressive, awesome performance. The dialogue between Robert's voice and the bass contrappunto is so perfectly focused to wildly wrap itself to the top. And beyond. Ecstatic climax
Breathtaking, mind-blowing interpretation!!!!! There are no words to describe what I feel while listening to this! One of the most powerful songs ever. Masterpiece. Thank you.
That's exactly how I feel when I hear and see. The Cure perform! Robert Smith is just so a damn talented, hell, he's a musical icon and genius. His performances are mind blowing ! SO INCREDIBLE #TheCure.
I have this song on cassette tape from 1981 and I didn't knew who's band is this. In 1984 or 1985 I discover that this is The Cure's song and I was so happy to know that. I still have the tape....
I only saw them once back in about 91 and they ended the show with this song. It was SIIICK. They took the song down at the end to just the bass hitting the notes at half time. You thought they were winding the song down then they would build it back up and just start raging again. They did that about 3 times. Damn that was unbelievable. On top of that this was my favorite tune of theirs then and its still one of their all time best.
i could get insane, when i hear this song. and i (could) get insane!!!!!! hey, the cure, hey, robert, thank you so much. thanks from a little country, austria for THIS song! turn ur speakers up to the max., people and enjoy it, people all over the world!!!!!!!!!!!
This is The Cure at their best. The Wish Tour was the last time they did this epic live version of A Forest. It's been pretty much put into retirement these days. Such a pity. Magnificent version!!
Those were GREAT days for epic concerts. The Cure on their Wish tour and Depeche Mode on their Devotional tour. I think I fried most of my brain on those two shows alone lol. Good stuff. =)
probably one of the most underrated pieces in music history/pop music And live pieces/much better than the masterpiece made in the studio. If you listen very carefully you can hear the rustling and wind in the leaves of the trees yourself
what a fucking fantastic version. I remember seeing them on The Wish tour (in Manchester) - OMG was that really nearly 20 years ago?!! scary. After The Cure I'm alive and well. Thank you, Robert, Simon, Porl, Lawrence... (I still have my signed Faith poster from circa 1980)
Thanks for pointing that out to me english teacher. No matter how hard I tried on my papers in school, you were always there to point out everything that was wrong with them.
This is just awesome... As to why no one makes music like this...there's a few out there whom still feel the freedom we used to enjoy. And yeah it would be really nice if they would produce a remastered DVD or something. I wore the VHS tape out lol.
The opening 20 seconds of this song make my hairs stand on end, incredible. Some bands are able to create a mood but not many are able to create an atmosphere.
This is a band at the peak of their powers. Their finest hour! What a performance. The build up near the end is so powerful.....nails me to the wall every time
God this fucking song rocks!! It lasted for 20 minutes at the Arlene Schnitzer concert Hall on Broadway in Portland, OR back in 1997. 'Wild Mood Swings' tour. Greatest Show ever!
It's extremely rare that the longer a song gets, the better it is. A Forest is easily a contender for the top of that list. Great post.
This has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever, I love it so much
This song is great no matter what.-- every live version is good!
Loving This Song ... again and again and again...
Best version,best song,best band.
Now this is one of the true creative geniuses in music.
My favorite CURE 'song ! Such a mastepiece. One on my favorite version of A Forest too. Magistral. Ambiance, performance, atmosphère. Robert Smith and Simon Gallup are genius. Greatest more than ever. Love The Cure. Friendly from France 🖤💋🖤💋🎼🎶🎸

So much more before their time. Growing up in the 80s was hard enough, this band just made it easier.
