There are still a lot of us who believe him to be the second coming of Benedict Arnold...and didn't need to come back a second time as a player...let alone having that jersey retired and becoming GM...
For my kings mount Rushmore. It would include Marcel Dionne Anne Kopitar Drew Daughty J . Quick Dave Taylor. No Gretzky for me either. I know the trade was great for the nhl. Easy to acknowledge that. But he came from in my opinion the biggest bunch of arrogant jerks I ever seen assembled on a nhl team, with Gretzky being at the top of the list with Sather, Anderson et al. I watch a lot of different sports mostly as a los angeles fan. And I can honestly say the one and only team that I truly can't stand even now is the oilers. I think part of the reason that listener believes you are being negative is due to the Fire Blake chants being brought up as often as they are on the show due to so many Kings fans being unhappy with him. I'm of the belief that this is the case though because of this being the off season, there really isn't that much to talk about at this point. That being said, I can't imagine Luc will make the same mistake Blake did (when he renewed Todd's contract) and re-up Blake for another season (or longer?) only for the Kings to not meet expectations and then let him go after the fact as well but who knows with this organization anymore?
Some fans are just too optimistic as well it's clear this isn't a winning team it's a mid range maybe debatable if they are middle upper or middle lower league quality
If a team continually takes steps backwards after winning 2 Stanley Cups, and hasn't moved past the first round of the playoffs since 2014, the fans are expected to be "happy" and "positive"? I left the LAKI after Hammond left because Rosen and whoever the new guy is are just shills for the current Kings administration. Blake has never had a plan. He is making it up as he goes. It's almost like what we used to do with hockey trading cards as kids, looking at stats on the back of the cards. Blake and Luc have returned the Kings back to a west coast beach club team....come to LA, get a comfy contract, play a few minutes with 3/4 effort, then go back to your beach condo. Your show is not negative, it is objective and actually reporting what all of us are seeing. Blake and Luc get an F for their leadership and management moves. I know we can't bring back DL, but we can find a GM who did what DL did - develop a 5 year plan, develop a team building strategy (build from the goalie out), then draft and trade to meet the needs of that plan while developing a management team that can judge talent and manage the salary cap.
I like your commentary most of the time I think our current team if they don't get the performances we hope the young guys we've been waiting for like Byfield stepped up I don't see the King's doing much this season they let too many good players leave and not really fill those holes maybe improved the goaltending but that's it I don't have any confidence in this coach especially if he doesn't change the system we didn't change it when it stopped working and we paid the price a lot plus lack of offense and effort in the playoffs could have won that serious if they had tried more also tired of losing good players to other teams with lousy trades like Dubois we have up great players for that lazy slob why you think his old teams fans were laughing at us I would have taken even one of our guys we have up over him why our team doesn't learn from our mistakes just keep repeating them King's always need a discipline coach we have winning seasons when we do because these guys are lazy maybe because they live at the beach not sure but you ever notice our explayers always play better after they leave the King's
Nobody should let McClellan off the hook for screwing over the team chemistry and lack of leadership and discipline. Blake built a team that will wind up ranked about 12-18 in total points after 82 games. The team on paper has a 66 % chance to make the playoffs. It has a 20% chance to advance to round two. Blake has built a mediocre team and a soft team that can’t really dominate on the game control. The team at times is too discombobulated on the ice.
