I love this! I love that you had a book club bbq… that sounds so fun. I just finished Emma and I loved it. From her main novels I still need to read Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey and Sense and Sensibility. I have been eyeing that biography and The Other Bennet Sister for a while now!
@@tiffgooge9206 thank you! I couldn’t recommend Jane Austen at Home and The Other Bennet Sister enough! I’m reading Emma next month and Northanger Abbey in October. It’s been a fun reading year.
As a Charlotte Mason homeschooler who found your videos because this was also my first Jane Austen July, thank you for sharing all of the books! I love your videos thus far.
@@humblyhaley I read Sense and Sensibility, Sandition, and Venetia which was set in the same time period. I had The Other Bennet Sister on my list but could not get a chance to read it. After hearing your description of it, I would like to revisitPride and Prejudice since it has been at least ten years since I’ve read the book.
@@migdalahb I re-read Pride and Prejudice for the first time in years this year and it was so worth it. I hope to get to Sanditon in September but I haven’t heard of Venetia. Did you enjoy it?
@@humblyhaley It was okay but not one I would bother to reread. For me, there was too much slang from the time it was written (1920’s) and it was not as good as what I expected. Far from the language that I expected of a Regency era book.
I also enjoyed my first Jane Austen July. I read The Other Bennet Sister as well and loved it! I absolutely agree that certain characteristics of Mrs. Bennet and Charlotte were a little over exaggerated, but Mary's story was amazing. The other books I read were great as well. I cant wait to hear what you think of Northanger Abbey.
@@humblyhaley I had quite a bit more time in July to myself than usual, so I read a few more books than I originally anticipated I would. The other books I read were Sense & Sensibility, Northanger Abbey, Persuasion, Mansfield Park, Sanditon, & The Watsons by Jane Austen, Miniatures & Morals (non-fic) by Peter Leithart, The Perils of Lady Catherine de Bourgh (retelling) by Claudia Gray, and Praying With Jane (devotional) by Rachel Dodge.
@@humblyhaley Oh man, that's hard to choose. Probably a tie between Mansfield Park and Northanger Abbey? I really enjoyed reading each of those this year, but for completely different reasons. I feel like Mansfield Park is such a deep book that is so underrated, but Northanger Abbey is so funny and an enjoyable read. I really hope that you enjoy it when you get to it.

Loved hearing your thoughts on Jane Austen. Northanger Abbey is my favorite of her books. She was so good.
