    I recently bought a 2023 Gibson ES335 and don't regret it. I got tired of comparing everything to a Gibson so I just bought one.

      That's the way to go, when you can do it. If you can't afford the Gibson right away, though, it helps to find a quality option until you can. I'm there now, but, for the first 20 years of playing I was not. Plenty of Yamaha's, Squires, Epi's , etc over the years.

      If possible buy both Gibson and Epiphone or other types. I have both Gibson and Epiphone and I cannot say which one is better especially after replacing the pickups. The issue with Gibson is that if you are playing it in public and it gets stolen, it’s more expensive to replace.

      You’re so right. I am the same with motorcycles, just buy the one you want and stop wasting time and money with imitations.

    Just got this today. Out the box, it’s amazing. The pickups sound great and the neck is fast despite being on the bigger side. In person, it’s gorgeous. This might be my last guitar - it’s really good.

    "When something is cool, it's cool". You've said it, Dylan! This week I got one of their 1959 Les Paul Standard. Have you tried those? Same electronics as this DG-335, very well put together instrument. I'm a long time fan of Epiphone and I'm just glad to see them getting better and better!

    Just got an Epiphone Marty Schwartz 335, and am very impressed with the quality and sound of the guitar. Came perfectly set up from Sweetwater. All I needed to do was change the strings.

    I was up early on the day of release here in the UK, and still didn't manage to get hold of one as they sold out within seconds. I ended up paying a bit over the odds to get one on eBay from a seller in Japan.
    Brilliant guitar, although I'm going to darken the indian laurel fingerboard with some Montypresso wax from Monty's.

    There's something weird going on with the tone of this guitar. When you did the wind cries marry thing around 6:20, there's a harsh buzzing sound that doesn't sound good.

    Agree that this (and Trini) is just a cool, unique guitar. Love the diamond f-holes and Thunderbird headstock. Beautiful color. Pickups sound great. QC was perfect except for needing fret polishing. It’s a keeper.

    That guitar makes Dylan look tiny. One thing I have observed is that Chinese factories having been making excellent semi-hollow guitars for years. The Epi dot 335 is a legend unto itself. I also have a Eastwood Classic 6 which was cheap and the best Eastwood I have by a considerable margin. $650 for an Epi or Gretsch or Eastwood? And now for a (massive) upcharge you can get premium specs? Burstbucker 2/3 set is one of the finest Gibson makes. Objectively, $1300 makes sense if you ignore the Epi and Made in China sticker and focus on the spec sheet. (Eastwood is also making a Trini Lopez version of their Classic 6, but don't tell anyone...shhhhhhh)

    Love the color of DG335. I'm trying to decide between an Epiphone 1962 ES335 Bonamassa vs. DG335. What are your thoughts between the two?

    • @rocktorrocks
      @rocktorrocks 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I own the Bonamassa and it’s fantastic. Specs are comparable with both having same wiring, pickups, one piece neck and case. I’d say it mainly comes down to aesthetics. Not sure if neck profile is different on the DG335 but I love the neck on my Bonamassa. The Bonamassa is supposed to be limited and has a COA which the DG335 doesn’t have as far as I know.

      It might be slightly better than a Gibson because the neck might feel a little more comfortable depending on your hands. The plasticy poly finish on the neck can be reduced if you just buff it with a wet dish sponge or something slightly abrasive

    Looks absolutely beautiful. I owned an Epi Riviera but those body styles are just a little too big for my taste and I guess I prefer the more hard rock style of the Les Paul build. Of course, there's nothing stopping you from playing hard rock on a semi hollow because that's exactly what Grohl does

  • @castnoshadow82lr48
    @castnoshadow82lr48 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I’ve heard a lot of people complain about the price but if Gibson are putting their pick ups in that thing that’s already practically the price difference.
    I love Dave I love epiphones but to be honest I love my epi 339 with p90s in and my supernova I don’t need another semi hollow.
    I want a korina sg they’re tough to get over here in the uk.
    Also I’d prefer a Japanese casino or vintage Wiltshire or something if you’re patient I’ve seen them sell for like £2500-£3000 I’ve here for a vintage guitar basically made in the same plant as Gibson they are just value for money.
    I’m not a wealthy man so I have to be mindful where my big money goes on guitars 😂

Dave is not a good guitarist anyway, and the guitar looks weird in many aspects. And hey, my reply to the below comment, that had nothing but kind nice words from me, was deleted, so I won't be watching and wasting my precious time over this guy's videos, he just wants to sell his stuff, and I don't find he has a sense of the variety of good guitar music, to decide what is good tone for what kinf of music and player, so nothing more from me.
