Unbelievable response to this video & guitar!! Congratulations to Epiphone, Gibson & Dave Grohl. The DG-335 is officially our most pre ordered guitar of the last 12 months!!! Thanks to everyone that’s ordered one - we’ll be doing our best to get the guitars delivered as soon as possible as we can. 👍👍👍
Well its a pretty f*cking awesome guitar 😂
The specs and looks for that price are simply amazing.
By amazing response, you mean the main thread is complaining overwhelmingly about the absurd price.
@@sillysausage4549listen I’m probably in the same boat of never wanting to spend the money on their upper end stuff but, an absurd price is really an individual kind of thing. To some people this is pocket change and to others a month of rent or something similar. I would never buy one of these but, epiphone hasn’t stopped their lower end products, so there are always those options and not just expensive Epiphones now..
Unbelievable response? You mean all of the normies out here ripping Gibiphone a new asshole for price fuckeries?
Sucker born every minute.
Were gonna need an affordable brand for Epiphone now
Need to get me an EpiLOAN at these prices.
They didn’t stop making cheap models. Some d bag has to complain about every guitar that gets released.
Some Harley Benton Guitars are brilliant value for the money.
They’re still cheap models. These are part of the Epiphone inspired by Gibson Custom. This price point makes sense.
@@TheRealDavidFarmer So I suppose you are the complain police. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Even you friend.
These new Epiphone prices really make Reverend guitars look even better. The Reverend’s were always a huge bang for the buck. Comparing their lineup to Epiphone’s new higher prices makes the Reverend a steal.
A lot of guitar makes are now looking more attractive than epiphone.
I don't understand what epiphone are doing with their pricing lately, I know a lot of guitars that I would buy for £1.250 than that.
I have a Reverend that’s 5 or 6 years old now. Back then I thought they were a good deal even though they don’t even give you a gig bag like similar priced Fender, PRS and Epiphone does. Heck you can spend $1700 on a new signature Reverend and still not even get a case. In my opinion from an owners standpoint, I don’t think the new Reverends are worth it. I have an Inspired By Gibson 59 Epiphone Les Paul and that guitar is absolutely great. The neck and frets were perfect out of the case. I get compliments on the sound of that guitar at every gig. I guess each to their own, that’s why there are so many brands out there. The higher end Epiphone’s have come a long way.
I agree that Epiphones have come a long way, but they are not nearly as good as Reverends for the same price. I bought a brand new Warhawk DAW two months ago for $1,100. It's very well made, has locking tuners, and came with a hardshell case.
Each to their own, but I'll take a Reverend over an Epiphone any day.
@@CycloneJackI remember when I bought one of the first Reverend imports (a Warhawk no less) to the UK for £330. Perhaps I shouldn’t of let it go.. seems they are worth a little bit more now!
Reverends are a better value for sure. So are Yamahas. You can get a Pacifica 612 for $450 less than this Epiphone. And it's made better and is more versatile.
I can't wait for the day i see a the captain meets Dave Grohl video.
My first concert was Foo Fighters with Supergrass as the opener in 1997 in a small venue for $12 a ticket .
Id say that was a great gig! And 12 quid?! That wouldn't even get you a beer at a gig now 😐
That's like 2% of what it costs now 😢
You should have asked for your money back.
It wasn't my first concert, but the only time I saw Foo Fighters was at a festival where they were between Creed and Green Day.
I saw them for "free" at Expo 98 in Lisbon. The Expo was meh but I felt my $30ish bucks was well spent to spend the day there because of the show. Dave was hilarious. The only Portuguese word he seemed to know was obrigado (thank you) and they busted out My Sharona with obrigado as the lyrics to start the show.
Hey guys been watching for years and I enjoyed this video as much or maybe more than most y’all make. Love foo fighters and their music. Keep it going man one day I’m going to your store and hopefully meet you and Pete and see your wonderful store. Love y’all keep rocking
I always love how even afters so many years everyone in music rates Dave Grohl so highly. Probably one of the last active true rockers!
Wake up, he stinks on ice.

Only to ❄️❄️❄️
If you’re not aware of the younger generation you’re not paying attention. Some great younger musicians now.
@@sub-jec-tivit's too bad they can't write a classic song.
Yes. You even brought out the Vox AC30!!!
Got mine pre-ordered in New Zealand. Only 4 coming into the country initially apparently. So expensive here too.
The Dave call killed me. 😂😂😂😂 Well done.
me too... :D that was hilarious 😂
Got it!!!
The Dave Grohl phone call. 10/10. 😂
I NEED this guitar! Ever since I toured the old Gibson factory in Memphis, TN, I've had my eyes on this thing. They had the Gibson model on the "collection wall," and all dudes my age that walked by it were, almost visibly, salivating. Such a sexy axe. Great vid, gents!
The AC30 is probably bang on for what was used in the studio on a bunch of recordings. His main rig is an original Fender Tonemaster head, along with a Custom Audio head, and he now uses Friedman cabinets. In the studio, it can be a variety of anything. Dave and Chris stopped using Boogies live around 2010/2011, and switched to different amps around Wasting Light.
Did you actually listen to it? The tones were awful here lol
Makes sense since studio owners / producers love the AC30
There’s photos from like 1995/96 where Dave is using a Marshall.
That Everlong was magnificent!
I think I enjoyed your playing more than the actual guitar review :). Well done on the review and especially the synchronized Foo riffs.
1250😢 oh my days
I agree more like a £695 guitar
I'm kinda suprised that these are cheaper than the new Firebirds/other Signatures. Nice guitar, but paying more than a grand on a Epiphone is just crazy.
I don't know how crazy it is. That's just a name on a headstock. I don't think I'll buy one but not because of the the price tag and brand.
@@itsjohnnymillion "thats just a name on a headstock...I dont think Ill buy one due to the brand" what? lol
Johnny Million
@itsjohnnymillion It doesn't make sense if you alter what they said, naturally. They said they don't think they will buy one but NOT because of the price tag and brand. In other words, they areN,t going to buy it , but the pricing and brand are not part of that decision. As opposed to not buying it on account of the brand, which is what you're Lolling about.
@@itsjohnnymillion
To clarify, its not about the name on the headstock, its about the brands sub par materials and build quality.
Depends. I think the Dave Grohl is priced high but fairly when you consider it comes with a hard case and Gibson pickups. But most of the other premium Epi’s seem overpriced.
Wow! Great playing Pete!!! Cool axe! I can't wait to see the Foo Fighters this summer in California!!!
Great editing job
The DG-335 isn't bad, but that Trini Lopez is a seriously beautiful instrument - even at £6k+.
That Trini sounded freaking incredible.
@@adamimberti6948 It didnt sound 6k+ incredible
I’ve been waiting for one of these so it’s definitely awesome to see it finally come out, they look awesome and sound fantastic as well
Aweosme playing guys great episode!
FINALLY
love the playing of Foo songs you guys did. That made the video for me. Well done lads
opening jam sounded very authentic to me, loved it!
Only gibson is authentic. Play authentic.
@@johnelcanrab2114 LOL
@@johnelcanrab2114It has "authentic" Gibson pickups.. I suppose you could blind fold them both and distinguish the same pickups??
@@murdock8068 I think he is just joking about that Agnesi video 😅
@@Lalairu I see says the blind man! Haha
Thanks for your great Demo. Love Epiphone and i have the tommy thayer Explorer and the matt heafy orgins les paul but the prices for epiphones are amazing high😮
Need boogie rectifier for the low end... That's what Dave use, right?
5:32 I’ve been there too. Going to tune the E but the tuners are 6 in line lol.
How is the Foo Fighters almost 30 years old?! That is insane. Great looking guitars.
It means we’re getting old! 🤣😂
@@kerbyfabhow is that possible?! I was 12 the other day. Now my son is 12.
@@freitopolis Tell me about it… my son is in his 2nd year of college, and I feel like he as just born a couple years ago. Time freaking flies man.
Looks great
Really nice playing boys, really enjoyed it
They played those Foo Fighters songs like they just listened to them once right before shooting the video. 😂
Get an Epiphone 339 Pro in Pelham Blue instead, it's a great guitar
The DG phone call, hilarious..!! 🤣😂😂🤣😂
I really want one. These are going to appreciate in price.
Lee and Pete doing Everlong at the end is so good. Guitars great. Bit expensive to say it’s made in China but it looks a great and gives us mere mortals a chance to
Love seeing you guys making videos together again!!!!
Lee, what was your signal chain and settings? Sounds killer!
More of a Trini fan myself, would like to see the red or the burst on this one instead. AND a bigsby on it.
Been playing an original Trini in red with the bigsby since 1993. My dad’s first new guitar when he was a young musician. I do love the Pelham blue but think the LP in that color would be better for the collection here than the sig Dave model
Are those limited in supply?
Waited all the years with the hope that they’d some day do an affordable lefty DG-335. It’s my holy grail guitar. Devastated😔
It's the same shape oh both sides. Why can't you just turn it upside down. Turn the nut the other way. Sure, the knobs and cable will be on the wrong side but surely that is a small price to pay.
@@skum73 YEA SO SIMPLE! lol they could also just mirror their CNC program at the factory and offer a lefty.
That last jam guys, was magic
So cool of Dave to call!!!
Yo guys got the tones right for the Foo Fighters jams. Nice job!
Actually cheaper than I thought after seeing the new releases from Epiphone haha!
That is what I thought, but epiphone has been hitting my wallet this year
so hyped.
Excactly my thought too, still a bit shocked after the Epi Firebird 63 release lol Shame I have already bought 3 guitars in 2024..... This is a must as well.
That's how the marketing and pricing scheme gets people. Inflate the prices so ridiculously that the lower, but still ridiculous, prices look more appealing compared to the higher price.
Indeed. I thought for sure it was going to be their most expensive yet. They probably could have charged 2000 thousand at least and they'd have sold just the same.
Line 6 Pod Express is out, can you guys do a review for it?
$2,800 AUD it is here in Australia. I’m a huge foo fighters fan and of Dave’s but very expensive Epiphone along with the Adam jones models
You absolutely nailed the tone. Of course you did! Great video guys. My favorite channel for gear, music, and just hanging with the guys.
@@epektasis242 LOl. perfect example of how chasing tone is such a personal experience
Captains downpicking on the pretender is great, it's like watching ur dad learn guitar throughout the years. Cheers boys
What is Pete playing at 8:13 I don't know about FF songs but that sounds so fun to play
Beautiful guitar
After the early days of 100w heads & 4x12s and FF became a 3 guitarist band, Dave switched to using Fender Supersonics (which is why the amp sounds in this vid aren't quite cutting it)... IMHO it was a decision based on providing different tonal pallets as a way to fit all the guitars properly into a mix.
Very pretty guitar!
Honest shop talk question: Is there a difference with Dave Grohl in relation to TH-cam copywrite? In other videos, only snippits of riffs or "in the style of" riffs could be played. Today, full riffs/songs were played.
How does the Emily wolf signature compare to the dg335 sound wise?
All the riffs sound good!
my dream guitar. might not be dave's gibson but epi will do
Waiting for mine to get to the house. Already have the Trini, so the epiphone has big shoe to fill.
I ordered one literally the second I saw Epiphone released it..... super excited!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
YOU MUST BE A MILLINAIRE BRO!!
dunno how you managed to dial in that everlong sound but it sounds amazing
I'm glad I got the Epi Jim James 335; US $400 less, same level of craft/build quality, ideal neck shape.
But epi pups vs Gibson pups, no mother of pearl inlays and depends on how much you value pelham blue over walnut and the Trini Lopez styling. I can see why they've priced it this way.
@@pepmasters-999 I get that. I already replaced the pickups, swapped in Lollar Imperials from a dog LP I got at auction. Improvement!
Re: the middle position discussion. I've always heard he plays a lot in the neck position with the volume rolled off. That's what's worked for me, anyway.
Love to see Sire do the 335 semi hollow with a similar neck and tuning set up. Would bring the price down ad make it truely affordable
Is the Trini a semi hollow or a full hollow. I realise as I type it's a stupid question with the 335 big clue, it'd be 330 but I associate trapeze tails with no center blocks to mount a stop tail. I know I've answered my own question but I'll leave it up so that no one else has to make a fool of themselves and hopefully I'll get some funny take downs.
I saw the Dave Grohl Gibson version being made at the Nashville factory during a tour in Oct 2008.
Those things are huge.
That made me happy to see the captain bust out his Trini😊
I wanna buy a Epiphone Firebird but I know those things will depreciate in value ridiculously fast. I'm probably one of many who will be waiting for the used market offerings of these new Epiphones. They are sick tho.
Are the horns different sizes? The black one doesn’t look like 335 horns.
Andertons made my shitty day at least a bit better, you guys are the best!
I like blue too.
Opening jam was fire! Wowzer!
That’s just the Foo Fighters?!
definitely sounds about right
Is it true a lot of these sunk with the container ship in the Red Sea the other week?
How much does the Trini Lopez estate get???
Ive worked out that the Foo sound is pretty much:
Chris- suped up sl plexi
Dave- sl plexi with a fender logo
Pat- suped up suped up sl plexi(aka jcm800)
Friedman BE100
Fender Tonemaster
Wizard W800
Just get a Marshall valve amp and a drive pedal.
It is SO COOL when a Rock Star like Dave Grohl comes out with an affordable Signature guitar. I seriously have way more guitars than I can possibly need, but damn, I want one of those!!!!
Enjoyed that!
Very cool, completely slept on this, selling like hotcakes apparently (and predictably). Not sure I could justify it as I have a first run olive Chris Cornell model, but it does have enough different features to distinguish it, right? RIGHT? ;)
I want want want!
Patterned after the Trini Lopez model. Cool.
FRESH POTS!!!
Haha, when you know, you know
Lol!!
I figured it would be clocking in at the $1500/$1600 range with a rosewood board (at least) and a hard case. At least it's got Gibson pickups. Still, $1300 for MIC regular Epi? Nice guitar though.
From what I remember seeing the Foo Fighters live several times in the late-90s/ early 2000s, and reading guitar magazines, Dave Grohl did use Dual/ Triple Recs, with a Vox for cleans. Then supposedly he changed to Mesa Road Kings and dropped the AC 30.
But I’m sure his live rig from around 25 years ago is not what he used in the studio, especially for the later albums when he was actually playing the Trini Lopez/ his signature model.
Pete looked a bit more at home in the intro than Lee did 😂
Id prefer my split coil es 335 for everything
How do I get the tone for everlong ? Preferably the lead but I don't mind ethier
That headstock looks great.
The comments about price seems fair considering a standard Epi 335 is Les than half the price, meaning diamond shaped f-holes, and a signature is worth a quite a lot, considering the rest of the specs don’t differ that much, and the price of a burstbucker, and Grover minis, are not enough of a price difference, even at retail prices, to make up the 60% premium.
Where are these made now?
china
Compared to a Fender Tom Delong Mexistrat, this seems like a good price - especially with a hard case.
Yeah….but it doesn’t say squire on the headstock though dose it. I get your point though.
Can we get a blindfolded amp comparison between budget and expensive run through the same 212 cab?
Sounds amazing but that price is a bit much especially considering I picked my Vintage Pretender guitar for £300. Yeah that was about 8 years ago but still.
KKR private equity firm, which is the owner of Gibson, is going to be very happy with the returns from this one. I couldn't resist pre-ordering one myself.
Man I'd love one of these but 1200 sheets for an Epi!? That's not much less than I paid for my AM pro 2 tele.
Interesting to know DG's Red Trini Lopez guitar actually has BB 1&2 in them and so does the Gibson signature version, the Epi has 2&3.
My Reverb review: I have owned three ES-335s, two Gibsons and one Epiphone Pro. Not only is this guitar better than them, it is better than my Les Paul. I always plek my guitars, this one doesn't seem to need it. I always replace the tuners with lockers, but these tuners are so good - I may not. I can't find a flaw in this guitar and I gave it the Trogly look over. Now make an SG with this headstock and fit and finish !
Beautiful guitar.
The head stock looks like its a foot long?
I have no problem buying Epiphone. The brand name has so much heritage in the music industry it's a no brainer...!
