One of the easiest exercises would be to enable subtitles for the video so that people who don't speak perfect English can have what is said translated! Please keep this in mind in the future - thank you!

Problem is, if you read the subtitles, you will not watch what they are doing, and it would still be difficult to follow. I experienced this with a german video ☹

Hey! That's my project in the first position of Popular this Month on Shaper Hub! 😃 Sorry I missed the session last night. Great job as usual!

That knob is a *super* example of how Shaper can work with other tools extremely well, too, as an augmentation to your conventional shop. If you want to really take that up a notch for comfort of use, a palm router in a clamp-on-bench router table (easily made with Shaper!) and a bearing-ended chamfer bit makes it lightning quick to toss a beveled edge around that thing on both sides after it's cut, or generally clean up your finished cuts!

      For sure!

On the first example, around 18:00, I would leave the nut on the exterior, so the more you tighten, the more the nut is pushed inside the wood. And then you do not need to glue it.

Great Session. I’ve started at 001 and have worked my way up to about #27 at the moment so I wanted to jump ahead and watch a current video. I can see the machine progressing through updates and advances as I get closer to the top of the playlist. 1. What I have yet to see is what type of plywood do you use? 3/4” Birch? 2. What is going on at 12’07” in the video at the top of the first knob cut in the plywood? There seems to be a little bit of a bump out towards the top and I noticed that Jake slowed down on each consecutive approach. Thanks, have a good day. I enjoy the videos a lot.

Likely ran the tool a little too fast into that corner causing a bit of a deviation. This does happen, and with novel geometries can in some cases be a little tricky, but we recommend using Auto around corners and big movements to account for the movement of the tool vs. the movement of the motors to avoid overshooting. This is really more necessary on inside corners where you might run into your cut as opposed to outside it. It won't usually be significant, typically only slight, but it's the 'best practice.'
We use a few different types of plywood in the shop. I believe this was cabinet grade birch!

My largest challenge is deciding on bit use -what size and type. I’d like to try my hand at one of the modern chair patterns but it would be a first ‘big’ shaper build for me and I’m not quite sure how to choose an appropriate bit.

When will studio get a line tool?

That was really helpful and your new strategy for the session really works well. Very many thanks. Do you have plans to bring the Masterclasses to the UK?

Thank you! And we are planning our Masterclasses to several spots all over, so definitely stay tuned! If you have a specific spot in the UK you'd recommend, let us know.

Why wouldn’t you use auto pass?

    • @5280Woodworking

They used autopass on the cutout for the second knob. I like that they sometimes use it and sometimes don’t, illustrating it’s not required but a nice feature sometimes.

@@5280Woodworking thank you. Thank you. Yes, I saw that. I wrote and sent my comment before I watched the entire video. I try to use autopass as much as I can. Cheers, Brian
