7 years what a joke after what those women went through and the work the police put in.
Oh I agree. It seems near impossible to get a Life Sentence there. Here in the United States we usually take violent crime quite seriously. And are judged harshly for it.
Listen, there are several very good reasons to have the Death Penalty as well. One major reason is to at least have a bargaining chip for when killers refuse to turn over the bodies of their victims. Just about ALL these bums will balk at the Death Penalty. Regardless of what liberals might say.
Watch more True Crime and you'll see that those criminals want to keep THEIR crumbie lives!
What reasons have they got to help the families of the dead??!!??!!?? These are horrible people and will continue the suffering. Since we're not allowed to beat them, and if they're is nothing to offer or bargain with, then loved ones will continue to rot where they are.
I guess these things have to hit home before anyone cares.

7 years for 2 rapes and 2 kidnappings???!!! Wth!! I bet he didn’t even serve 4 years!! All that work the police did and the pain the women went through for basically a slap on the wrist! Unbelievable!!!
It gets worse. Colin Kelly ran over a woman he mistook for a prostitute in Edinburgh after she refused to have sex with him and stated she wasnt a prostitute. She was permenently disabled as a result. He was given a life tarriff in Feb 2003 after being extradited from Dublin |Ireland where he ran to avoid answering for the charges.
We know which country Dublin is in, thanks.

What an incredibly strong young woman. I hope she's living a good life. She deserves it
most ladies that have been sexually assaulted suffer a life sentence due to the horrendous crimes committed against them,the attackers should get a minimum 20 year sentence and serve everyday

No scummy rapist's should get life in prison with absolutely no possibility of parole and no possibility of being let out to do it again.
Plus they shouldn't be put on special wings in prison and be protected from the rest of the prison.

So he was actually jailed again for running over a woman who rejected his advances and got a life sentence in 2003 with a minimum 7 years.
it is the same one then? i found a newspaper article about a man with the same name who raped a woman in her flat (glasgow i think), tied her up and took photos of her naked and threatened to send them to her family. how does he keep getting out of prison?
The likes of this vile excuse for a man and human being should have just been hung for his crimes no sentence is long enough to be honest. I remember watching this as a kid on tv and thinking "The world can be a terrrible place sometimes".
He is evil, and evil will never change their ways. Hope the women are okay and doing well in their lives i wish them all the very best.

The fact Colin was trying to appeal against his convictions is a disgrace what he put those women through was horrific I hope they’re happier now Xx

Great to see these old retro crimewatch uk appeals, and the culprits being caught and imprisoned......
Quite astonishing that a couple of years after he was released Kelly tried to run over a woman and her boyfriend after she refused his sexual advances. He was jailed for attempted murder. Kelly has three kids - imagine what they make of their father.
Precious little consideration given to this poor girl compared with that given to this sleazebag, what a sick society we live in, the victim is to blame. More women should be involved in law-making. Who’d be a policeman, time, money and effort wasted in many cases. God bless this young woman and her courage!

I lived in Ealing from 2003 to 2008 and there was another Irish man who was very creepy and always stalking ladies.
Kelly is not a credit to his country
Lenient sentence and he went on to attack again. Should have been a 25 yr sentence followed by the strictest monitoring conditions imaginable.
Wish I could edit video there's so many crimewatch appeals that are of the same criminal Peter tobin for instance was on crimewatch probably 10 times over the years

Rape is one of the most under-prosecuted, under-sentenced and under-reported crimes. It's vile how even today nothing has improved.

It wasn't normal. In fact in this very case two fellow prisoners both volunteered to testify against him when he bragged to them.

Where I grew up (Germany/80s), monthly girls were raped when hitchhiking back home from a disco visit. There were serial rapist on the hunt (Cuxhaven/Görenmorde/Favoriten Discomorde). I may be wrong, but this happend anymore that often fortunately.

There's science behind it. Research shows that if a potential victim can humanize themselves - a shared ethnicity might do it - the attacker may reconsider.
