So, I have been trying to watch these in order from the first one in 1984. This is the first time I have made a comment. I think it's cool that they admit to the frustration of not really finding out what happens after. Even when an arrest is made the information is not given that much of who got arrested and any following information. Also I love how Nick mentioned Sue's changing hairstyles which seem different every month and a personal view of mine that Sue looks at her hottest in this hairstyle in this ep in 1990. But the earlier episodes from the 80s are my favourite ones. The theme tune is superb and Nick Ross is such a great presenter. And don't work for Securicor in the late 80s early 90s.
Sue is just as good, her clarity and pace is excellent.
When Sue left they did a montage of her over the years. She said afterwards she didn’t realise she’d had so many different hair styles!

i remember watching these episodes and loved it until the end when he said dont have nightmares then at that point i thought of all the nutcases on the loose and crapped my pants lol
Slight but of car geek pedantry, the Cortina is a Mark V (1979-82) not mark IV (1976-79) as police and Sue Cook said. The two marks were essentially the same car with the MkV being a facelift of the MkIV also known as the Cortina80. Both the MkIV and MkV were still incredibly common cars in 1990 despite the passage of 8 years since production ceased. It was perhaps unsurprising as during the MkV’s production run, 20% of all new cars sold in Britain was a Cortina and they had become a byword for an ordinary car driven by people of modest means. They were incredibly cheap to buy second hand for decades afterwards but recently with cars of the 70s and 80s becoming regarded as classics, a good condition MkIV or MkV Cortina will change hands for £5000-£7000 nowadays.

Michael Benson was never re-captured and died in 2011. In 2020, he was put forward as a possible suspect in the unsolved murder of Ann Heron (that featured in the October 1990 edition).
That's not true. He was captured in 1999, after 10 years on the run.

Which year was it? I’m watching a episode from December 1990
Hardly anyone has a moustache these days in Britain do they. It's either clean shaven, beard or stubble. It'll probably come back into fashion eventually. When I went to America a couple of years ago there were still plenty of middle-aged men with moustaches, so it's only in Britain that it's fallen out of fashion.
Andy JS taches certainly were “de rigeur” in the 80s! Particularly in Liverpool, if pop cultural references are accurate... #calmdown 😂
I see loads of people with ludicrous moustaches. It's the popular way of the hipster. So many 'gentlemen's grooming parlours' for hipsters with handlebar moustaches and designer beards.

Cookie and Saint Nick need to differentiate between arrests, custody, actual guilty convictions and subsequent sentences. They try desperately to convince us that Crimewatch is an amazing force for good by announcing the number of arrests ‘as a direct result of the programme’.

They might be found not guilty.
The defence could argue it prejudiced their client's trial, if jurors were to have watched it, and could even be considered Contempt of Court
