- This is my personal M550i with a resonator delete. Only other mod is the baffles are unplugged for sport air flow at al times. Car comes with 2 resonators and both are deleted.
Just bought a 2023 M550i and plan to do a resonator delete, sounds much more aggressive without being in your face. Thanks for sharing your video!

Barry Singh No drone whatsoever. Any more than the resonators and I would be worried about drone. I went with just straight pipe and am very happy with the sound

If only the M5 sounded this way...never did understand. Even in Europe with the opf filters the 550i sounds better than the M5

Both resonators, left mufflers alone. Straight exhaust to replace resonators.

The M adaptive suspension comes standard on the M550 - the handling package adds four-wheel steer and body roll control.

Did you get this done through bmw service or somewhere else? And does this void the warranty?? Sounds amazing man!
I used a muffler shop that many people use with BMW’s in my area, it’s a very simple cut and they give you the resonators afterwards. Does not void warranty, but always keep original parts so that you can always bring the car back to stock

Hey Matt, I just picked up my 550, took your advice instead of paying 6-7K on aftermarket Exhaust I deleted both resonators.. I have 2 questions mate. 1. When I unplugged my valves on the rear pipes the things just closed, they did the opposite to what they did for you, they stayed shut. So I plugged them back in, I have loud and quiet now so I suppose that’s ok. 2. Do you think you lost much down low boost though this mod? I reckon off the bottom she’s lost a bit, it doesn’t spool up as quickly?? Is that what you felt mate??

Hi Marcus, congrats on the car. When I unplugged my baffles I made sure the car was in sport plus, blip the throttle, and unplug the cables while the car is running. Then they won't shut again. I didn't notice any power lost as the car always opens the baffles once you give it throttle. This mod is mainly to give the car a louder cold start. Hope this helps! feel free to ask any questions.

Hi Matt, I just ordered my M550i this month and my dealer is also PACIFIC BMW! Im hoping it will arrive in September. For the resonator delete, is it reversable? And do you get drones when you are driving it at a constant speed? Thanks
Peter Shi congrats! Yes is it’s reversible, you just have to keep the parts. And no, there is no drone. A muffler delete would give some drone but not this resonator delete.
BMW Genius Matt Hi Matt, im thinking about doing it right now. So if you are only cutting the mid pipes, do you have to WELD them back for stock? Or it is able to dissemble without any cut on the pipe?
Have any issues with drone while driving it for a while?
@ Matt- I just got a 21” M550 and was considering the Dinan Mid-pipe with stock exhaust, but it’s pricey so I wonder if the resonator delete will accomplish the same sound for $1k less. Any thoughts here? Also any droning when you drive it? Thanks!
The resonator delete will save you money for sure, $150 for a muffler shop. No drone, the sound is still very refined.
The mid pipe would eliminate all resonators. This is the same thing as a resonator delete, more cost effective.

The M550i has 2 catalytic converters, 2 resonators, then mufflers. I deleted 2 resonators, if you would like to remove one you can.

i have one thats stock that i want to do aswell. the exhaust is good but it needs that extra oush, how is your gas mileage ?

Is it louder in sport mode , if I do this mod and keep the valves does it quiet down when in regular mode
It does not quiet down in comfort mode after this mod as sport mode simply opens the baffles and pumps engine noise through the speakers.

Under the car on each exhaust there is a black plug. Only wire on the pipe.
2 questions, 1: do you unplug while the valve is open? Or it doesn't matter? And 2: will it throw a light / check engine/ some type of error?

The wheels on the M550i in the US aren't nearly as nice as what they're supposed to have. Kinda sucks

BMW needs to put as much distance between this M550i and the M5 as possible. In what seem like many minor details is how they are accomplishing this. M550i is an incredible value.

igor vargun no. The resonators don’t have any plus like a cat. They just reduce flow and noise.
